    New store and factory

The new Buffets is open on Academy just east of San Mateo. I'm a longtime buffets supporter. I have been going to the popcorn cannery since I was a kid in the N/S valley and of course the location on Lomas with the big candy cane out front. The new location is huge. Big windows inside do you can see the magic happening while workers are diligently making chocolates. You can also get the popcorn (a bit expensive) but everything is these days. Lots of variety, bright and everyone was super helpful.

The second location of the famous Buffett's Candies is now open! The place is spectacular. We were immediately greeted by a friendly staff member. She gave us a tour of the production area. I have to go back when it's running. This building is done so well. Spacious, modern and playful. I'm so impressed! There's a lot of chocolate choices, some I'd never seen before. We a bar of milk chocolate. Absolutely delicious! You should go!

Albuquerque's iconic gourmet handcrafted candy store has sweetened our lives with a second location. The Academy location is retro-themed and even has a viewing window in the kitchen, so you can watch the Confectioners create their magic--it's like Willy Wonka, but without the Oompa Loompas. The employees are friendly and helpful. This gigantic store has so many displays that it's like a candy labyrinth. I make it a point to stop at Buffett's Candies for holidays and special occasions. Their gourmet popcorn is an absolute must-try; it's light, puffy, and has a perfectly crunchy candy coating. With so many flavors, I frequently pop in--pun totally intended. One of my personal indulgences at Buffett's Candies are the chocolate-covered piñons and the piñon turtles. These treats are so delicious, they should come with a warning label: highly addictive. I highly recommend visiting the second location of this store; it's a guaranteed delight and might just become your new happy place.

As you walk further in the shop the transitions to a dedicated spot to all things tea with variety of teas, teacups, tea containers, teapots along with everything needed for a tea experience. They also sell locally made chocolates. Tucked in toward the back of the store is the cozy tea restaurant. They offer high tea service, though reservations are required, and that will be for a future visit. I ordered a chai tea latte with half and half and it was absolutely delish, satisfying my craving for something cinnamony and spicy. For my meal I had a bowl of the green chile stew which was decent, but the highlight for me was their flaky buttery croissant.

Throughout the course, you are served 3 different teas alongside scones, a small salad, and 3 tiers of finger foods. This season's menu includes blueberry scones/muffins, beef wellington, spanakopita, quiche, cucumber sandwiches with homemade cream cheese, egg salad sandwich, chicken salad sandwich, cheesecake, beignet, cream puff, and chocolate. They tasted like something you'd be served at your grandma's house (in a good way). The teas that they served went well with the courses. They started with a strong black tea, then a beautiful butterflypea tea, and ended with a blooming green tea (the tea leaves bloomed into a flower in the glass teapot). Service: 5 Our server was excellent. She was very pleasant and did a good job of checking in on us without being annoying. The website mentions a 90 minute limit, but the waitress never rushed us. Ambiance: 4.5 The restaurant is within a tea and chocolate shop. The front is filled with antique knickknacks that are part of an estate sale and add to the grandma core vibes of the restaurant.
