I have loved Buffet's Candies for a long time. Their chocolate is always delicious and there is a huge variety of different candies to choose from. My husband's favorite has always been their peanut brittle. I gave him a monthly delivery of his favorite treat and he has enjoyed it tremendously this year! It's easy to schedule a subscription or to get one of your favorites sent to you. You don't have to live in Albuquerque to enjoy a true hometown treat! read more

They sell the best milk chocolate I have ever eaten. Highly recommend. Very yummy. It's been around for a long time.

Wonderful. The BEST. I've gone there since I was about 9-I'm 67 now. Very disappointed that they no longer sell the divinity though! Thus, 4 stars. Pretty sure Mr. Buffet would be too. read more

We went to the cannery location last week on 7th street and we were in Popcorn heaven! We picked up bags which included green apple, red chili, caramel with almonds, rainbow and a green chili mix. The lady welcomed us to the store and asked what brought us in. We mentioned that we were at the cannery location on 7th street and saw some of their candy displayed. The store is in a gated parking lot and clean. She gave us descriptions first of each candy and how they are made daily. Gave us a free sample. We spent a good hour in the shop and really enjoyed the offerings and made both popcorn and chocolate purchase between myself and my two adult kids. Thank you for the warm welcoming. min read more

My wife & I have never been disappointed with a visit to Buffett's Candies. The staff is always friendly and ready to make great recommendations. We often buy gifts to ship to friends and family, all to rave reviews. This year I bought the Bour-bons and they were excellent! read more

This "little" spot is pretty big. I saw them on either Food Network or the Cooking Channel. They featured their piñon nut roll. They don't sell them individually anymore. You have to buy a candy pack to try them. The shopping area is kinda small but you can see everything they offer right up close. I bought a couple of pecan rolls, a white chocolate covered graham cracker, and a praline... Hard pass! The praline tasted nothing like one from Savannah or Charleston! It had like an aftertaste. That praline made me skeptical of eating anything else. The graham cracker was ok and I still haven't tried the pecan roll (a month later). read more

Hello Albuquerque! When was the last time you went to Buffett's Candies? They have been around since 1956 as a local family-owned business. I have received Buffett's candy as a gift, and I have seen the giant candy cane that leans on the building on Lomas and Louisana. But, I'll be honest I had never been to the candy shop until last week, and I shopped there again today. Their candy is the best! Al, the confectioner who assisted me both times, is an extraordinary individual and one reason to return. Al greeted my sister and me with a big smile and happy greetings even though we walked into the establishment 5 minutes before closing on Friday. He was over the top helpful and genuinely friendly. I may not be back every week, but I will visit often. My favorite candy is the Zia, which has a few variations, dark chocolate, pinions, and caramel; yum! You don't have to wait for a special occasion, but their candy is exceptional! read more

It's been many years since i ventured into Buffet's. I was at the one on Central, or Menaul. The candy was very good, but a little expensive. I only wanted to try samples but ended up spending almost thirty dollars. Lots of temptations for everyone. Recommended to me is the popcorn with caramel and nuts. But now I'm cutting back so I will try the new location on Academy for gifts ! I want to see the Chocolate Factory! read more

This is a great spot for tradition American confections. What sets them apart from other similar shops is their focus on piñon chocolates/candies. They have many varieties of piñon with chocolate. I also really enjoyed their chocolate covered peanut butter squares. You can't miss the large candy cane out front! The service is friendly and attentive. read more

This is a long time place in Albuquerque. They have candies made with local pinon which make for unique local taste. The staff is friendly and helpful. Prices are slightly higher than other candy places but worth the money. read more

I've been driving by this spot for years and finally stopped in to check it out. I discover that Buffett's Candies is wonderful. This locally owned shop has been here since the fifties. They ship to you or you can go into their store. Employees were sweet. The lady that helped me went above and beyond. There's lots of pinion candies. They have Lobo themed candy--great for the graduates. There's yummy popcorn flavors. I loved the Butter Rum Candy popcorn, but if you want a taste of local flavor you may want to grab the red and green chile (Christmas) popcorn. They have chocolate covered popcorn--yes! And KetoDiet diet be damned, I tried the cherry gummy rings which was another winner. There's colorful giant lollipops, flower shaped chocolates, chocolate with chile, chocolate and caramel covered marshmallows, and much more. I absolutely plan to return. The only thing that would be a nice addition would be a small table and coffee. I would totally bring the hubby here for a yummy treat and a cup o joe. read more

My friend said she was going to Albuquerque, NM and asked me if I wanted anything...no thanks on a souvenir mug, magnet or hanging hot air balloon chotski...as I KNOW exactly what I want AND it's edible (and not cheap). After seeing an episode of Andrew Zimmern featuring Buffets Candies' piñon nut roll I had to get as my mom loves pine nuts and the thought of caramel makes it even better! Handmade candies of brown sugar center, wrapped in caramel and pressed with pine nuts (no preservatives) is all one needs to be a happy camper...and of course I don't think of the calories, but the protein content! Yeah they're good for you! So if you know someone traveling to Albuquerque have them bring you a box of these decadent treats...shipping avgs about $12 if you order online and it's delivered fast! Definitely have to try! read more

How can you go wrong? It's chocolate. And a wagon load of other candies. I even found the chocolate covered sunflower seeds that I adore - in Spring colors! Buffett Candies was started here in New Mexico in 1956 by George Buffett soon after he graduated from college. He started it at his Mother's suggestion because she thought it would be an inexpensive way for him to start a business. It didn't take much equipment. And it has been going strong and successfully for 63 years. This wonderful candy store is a local New Mexico tradition that has been around for three generations. Three generations of candy makers. Three generations of filling the community with great chocolate. All chocolates are handmade with no preservatives. Hence their motto: "Made to Eat - Not to Keep!" They have a large selection of New Mexican piñon chocolates/candies. The chocolates come in every flavor under the sun that you have heard of . . . and a few that you probably haven't! Decisions? Decisions? Just be sure to eat lunch before you go . . . . read more

Buffett's is just iconic! It's by far the best local chocolate and my husband can't get enough of the "turtles" - chocolate covered caramel with nuts! They always have a sample of their chocolates so be sure to try something new when you go in! They also have sugar free treats so it is your new favorite place if you are Keto, low carb, or diabetic! It is the perfect place for Valentine's Day gifts as the prices are fair and the quality is AMAZING! Your gift recipient will be wowed without blowing the bank. They are more than just chocolate too! They also have fantastic nuts such as piñon. read more

Buffett's Candies , for me, has been a true constant In my life. Walking into their little store packs a huge punch. The delightful scents of milk chocolate and dark, the pastel colors of Jordan almonds and caramel corn, jujubes & more. I can't help but feel like I am time capsuled in some kind of time warp ship when I am inside. Like Charlie in the chocolate factory. Cliche, I know. Literally eye candy in every sense of the word and I never leave without horny toads. The absolute very best homemade candy in New Mexico. Hands down. If you are chocolate connoisseur and appreciate inviting aesthetic and nostalgic ambience, you'll fall in love with Buffett's. NM's finest. read more

I was so disappointed in the new store off San Mateo. I've shopped at the old Lomas store for years and love the delicious candy. Everything is pre-made and individually wrapped. We bought four pieces for $20! That would be ok if the candy was really good. But our gila monsers (like a large turtle) were hard as rocks with little flavor. The show room feels cold and artificial; I don't smell any chocolate. We won't be going back to this location. read more

I'm not a sweets person. Salty, crunchy, fried fatty junk is my weakness, not the sweets, because I was raised by a Candy Nazi. So, it's no surprise that I've been in ABQ for two years and hadn't heard of it until now. But wow, the piñon rolls. Watch the YouTube video that features Patty spotlighting them. She's George's daughter. The piñon is like a pine nut, but not as crunchy, and with a more muted flavor. The roll is sweet, but mildly so. Just enough crunch mixed with smooth caramel. It's expensive, but you'll be glad you did. You'll be hard pressed to find this anywhere else. After all, piñon nuts grow in only the Southwest and take 7 years to mature. Remember, this is being said by someone who doesn't enjoy most sweets and has a huge disdain for the cheap convenience store candies. Even my Candy Nazi mom picked up a few things. No wonder this place has been around for 60 years! read more

Andrew Zimmern featured their piñon nuts logs on his show, so we had to go and try. They were definitely worth it. Nougat covered in a perfectly soft caramel, then rolled in piñon nuts. So good. Awesome customer service. So patient & so friendly. The lady who works there is so sweet. A cute little grandma giving samples of their yummy chocolates. We also love their green chili popcorn. read more

You know what they say about a fat kid in a candy store? It's all true! Where does one even begin in a place like this? Well to clarify, I think this time of year (the week before Christmas) might not be the best time to judge them overall. Obviously it's Go-Time for a place like this, however, they seemed to be handling it just fine! I didn't have the foggiest idea what I wanted, other than a few stocking stuffers. So when looking around I was lost... so much to choose from, and I believe they'll customize just about anything you want, as well. I opted for some easy premade stuff, but noticed some really unique items, as well. They have pinon nut brittle, and pretty much every other kind of brittle. They have various candy corn of every imaginable concoction. Just endless arrays of sweet goodness to behold! I really think you'll want to check these guys out. read more

This little local store is great. To me it is comparable to See's Candies but local. I love everything chocolate specifically dark chocolate. These are super good and the employees in the store are always friendly and helpful. My boyfriend is in love with their salted caramels and I love their peanut butter truffles/chocolates. Would recommend to every chocolate lover! read more

Having tons of family from ABQ has had me out here more times than I have fingers. For as long I can remember from all those years is my favorite candy in the world, the piñon rolls from Buffett's. While they don't offer the rolls on their website except in the assortment pack you can buy them individually at the store. Years ago a local relative of mine was successful in calling them up directly and asked for them to ship the rolls in a box but the price varied per box as each roll is priced by weight. Buffett's has been around over 50 years and has been a staple of my family longer than I've been alive. The store is made a local landmark for selling candy made from piñon nuts. The piñon nut or "pine nut" from the New Mexico area of the US is a different type of piñon than anywhere in the world and different than most sold around the country (our grandpa made sure to explain this every time we ate piñon from NM). The shop doesn't use any preservatives and proudly display a sign inside stating "Our Candy is made to eat - Not to keep!" which is definitely holds true as the chocolate discolors within a few days (it usually never makes it that long anyway). A final note for online ordering is that they will not ship chocolates after Easter because it gets too warm in NM during the summer/Autumn months. read more

What's not to love about this Albuqueruqe tradition. We stop by before Christmas to load up on gift boxes of pinon chocolate to send to friends far and wide. Thank you Buffett's for keeping the tradition alive. read more

I am very particular about chocolate. I don't like godiva, or hershey's. I like it very smooth without sugary taste. This place is an old-fashioned yet their chocolate is excellent.
