So i went to el zipote several times in the past... I always say I got to give them a second chance but today ‍... I order 3 pupusas for my lunch (I work across the street from them) and it took them 45min to get them out.. I look around and see if they had any customers wait for their food or barely getting there, a couple had ordered already and two others were finishing up and no other orders ahead of mine. Besides taking ages I said for them to toast the pupusas as much as possible( that's how I like them) cook gave it to me as raw as possible. I ended up tossing them away as pupusas are masa which require a fare amount of cooking. Never again will I visit this place. And talk about rude waitress she shhhh me like you would do it to an animal. No napkins no fork.. oh and they were wrapped in plastic wrap! Unbelievable but true. read more

Just had one of worst experiences. I made a phone order to go because one of my friends suggested this place after our Target run. I ordered 6 reueveltas pupusas with chicarron and cheese. Girl repeated my order in spanish and I confirmed. Spanish speaking only! When I went up to pick up my order they had 6 Rojas with beans. The girl who took my order via phone started to argue with the cashier and shot me dirty looks (young girl with curly hair and light skin). Instead of apologizing for the confusion they attempted to force me to pay for something I DID not order. I told them I was just going to leave and the young girl laughed as the cashier was trying to explain more non sense to me. I felt so uncomfortable and would not suggest this place to non native Spanish speakers. Side note the place smells like dirty mop so maybe it was a blessing I disguise. read more

Just got back home from ordering take out...we have ordered/eaten from here many times & it did not disappoint. However, lately the food has been lacking! We USED to love the pupusas but now the red sauce they serve is like water with no flavor,the cheese pupusa is not Salvadoran cheese but a cheap mozzarella or something! It's not Italian food & does not taste good! We ordered a chicken soup & the broth had no flavor & tasted like hot water, the chicken was dry & w.no seasoning..we tried to season it so it can taste better but no luck, we ordered platanos fritos & wow the beans! Which used to be tasty & thick came in a cup that looked like alot of water mixed with beans!! I literally had to make my own black beans on the side to enjoy the platanos! Food was bad...My friend and I ordered $24.99 plate, which had fried chicken, grilled beef, pork, shrimp and rice. This is the worst $24.99 I every paid! I love the pupusas here! The service is great, unless it gets busy. We went around 4:30 or so on a Thursday. (They have .99 pupusas on Tuesdays and Thursday, and only sell canned soda.) We ordered 6 pupusas and it took 20 minutes. By 5:30 most tables were occupied. She also came by and checked on us a couple times. Luckily I speak Spanish so it made everything easier. We're definitely coming back. The reason they only got 4 stars was because the music and the 5 o'clock news were both blaring and it was annoying. I loooove the pupusas here!!! I get revueltas and con queso. When I go to restaurants where you are seated I expect very good service. That's not the case here. I do feel like they are a little bit rude, and they make me feel weird sometimes. But other than that I can't complain! The pupusas were fantastic. The huevos rancheros were also great. The ratings for this are probably a little off because it really caters to Spanish speaking community. I really like the pupusas and a majority of the food here. There's a good vive to this place and the service is quick. For a faster service make sure you call in your order. I normally don't go out of my way to go eat pupusas but the last time that I went will likely be my last at this location. Ever since the young waitress greeted us I got an uncomfortable vibe from her. Since we're not Salvadorian, we are unfamiliar with some of the food/drinks that they have. My aunt asked the waitress what one of the drinks they had on the menu was and the waitress had no idea how to explain it to her. She didn't even offer a sample of it so my aunt could try it. The drinks took a while to be brought to us even though there were only two other busy tables. Once we got our food the waitress never came over to ask if we needed anything else. She never brought the bill to us/told us that we had to pay at the register. We tried getting her attention but she wouldn't look our way. Called in to order my pupusas, I arrived shortly; they where already ready. The women that work there are friendly and courteous. The cheese and mixed pupusas where not that great. The cheese ones tasted as if the cheese was rancid not to mention they skimp out on the cheese and chicharrón. All the pupusa had was a bunch of Maseca flour. Lesson learned believe the yelpers and I believe my homemade attempt of making pupusas was more fresh and successful at home than these. Just finished eating... food was amazing service on the other hand wasn't so great. I don't speak a single word in Spanish and the waitress only spoke Spanish. Even after talking to her in English she only spoke Spanish to us. It took her awhile to come to us for drinks, it took her forever to bring the drinks to us. Now they have the menu above the cashier and you order your meal and pay for it before it's like a fast food restaurant; this takes away from the family friendly restaurant it was once.
