Asada Quesadilla. Warm. Tasty. Soft.
Carl N.

El Borrego de Oro offers good food and service. Its interior is very simple yet clean, organized and well lit; very typical Mexican restaurant. We came here on a Sunday brunch. I ordered Asada Quesadilla y cafe con leche. The quesadilla was warm, soft, and tasty. Coffee was surprisingly good. Prices are very affordable. Staff were competent and professional. Service was moderately fast. Overall, I had a good brunch experience.

Lots of drinks to chose from.

We when in on a Saturday morning, when they had just opened. 8:15 to be exact. They took a while for them to serve the food and I ordered quesadillas and my hubby ordered Menudo. They were ok, they lack flavor and I wouldn't order them again. My hubby's Menudo was ok as well. We had to take his Menudo home because they took long to serve his food and I ate mostly by myself, we had to ask for ice since it was too hot when it came in. I don't think I would come back, many other places to chose from. Gave them 3 stars because server was nice and attentive.

What we had to sit next to after cleaning up our own table to eat

***reply to comment. I address my concerns to you about the service and all you can say is that you were busy. And if your going to insult someone calling them to faced you have to check your grammar it's "two" not "to"*** Dirty tables after people have left and when we asked where we can sit they said anywhere. Where where? All tables were dirty we had to clean our own tables. When we ordered our drinks and food at the same time. Our drinks seem to have gotten forgotten and brought after our food. Come on everyone was already served. The pansita was more chili than meat. We ordered regular coffee that seem watered down. Came on recommendation but will never return. Have caution

Barbacoa taco :)

delicious place to come try out authentic Mexican food. The speciality of the house is the Barbacoa (lamb) wich is steamed and goes well with the consome. I've tried different plates everytime I go and all have been really good.

Under Seasoned and dry.

Food was good, but priced a bit high for standard Mexican fare. Specially with so many Mexican restaurants in the area.

Barbacoa is delicious and very well cooked. Quesadillas are big and they have a great variety of fillings.

They went all out for her birthday and they also worked with us to make sure that her birthday cake was brought out during the happy birthday song! Our server cracked jokes the entire night and made sure we got sauces and water whenever we needed. As for the food, we started with the Kala Sampler, which has asada nacho bites, chicken buffalo wings, potato and chicken tinga, and taquito dorados. The Kala Sampler is good for four people so order accordingly if you have a bigger party. My hubby and I shared the parillada, which had multiple meats that can be put into either a corn or flour tortilla along with rice and beans. For meat, we had marinated steak, chicken breast, seasoned shrimp, cactus, and chorizo. My favorite was the seasoned shrimp. The steak felt dry to me but everything was still good and flavorful with the molcajete salsa, which tasted like sweet tomato. We were not able to finish and had to take most of this home because the portions are just that generous! All this for the price of $55 for the parillada. They also offer this service where they take a complimentary group photo and they print other individual and couple photos for sale. I never understood the business model of these services but at least you get a complimentary photo with the Kalaveras logo!

El Cremita is cheesy yet surprisingly light, never greasy. The chicken is soft and juicy, and the pops of pomegranate add a bright contrast that lifts every bite. Whiskil Taco is a dream for veggie lovers -- sweet, tender squash wrapped in a creamy, nutty sauce that feels both comforting and fresh at the same time. Mixta Taco stands out with its sausage and avocado combo -- rich, savory, and satisfyingly balanced. Taco de Chicharrón brings a fun textural contrast: crunchy, savory chicharrón paired with fresh, vibrant pico de gallo that keeps it lively. And the Pork Belly Cochinita Pibil? A showstopper. The generous slab of pork belly is smoky, buttery-tender, and practically melts into each bite -- deeply flavorful and indulgent in the best way. If you're looking to try a spread that hits creamy, crunchy, fresh, smoky, and sweet all in one sitting, this lineup absolutely delivers.

The idea was to enjoy my coffee while getting organized--paying bills, planning calendar events, and having the opportunity to focus without any distractions from my usual surroundings. In search of the perfect spot, I turned to Yelp, a reliable resource for uncovering hidden gems nearby. Upon stepping into the coffee shop, I was immediately greeted with warm hospitality, setting the tone for a delightful experience. The ambiance of the place was truly captivating--it was bright and welcoming, infused with an aesthetic charm that instantly put me at ease. I couldn't help but be intrigued by the design elements throughout the shop, which added an inviting touch to its overall atmosphere. Before I settled in, I asked the staff if I could snap a few photos to capture the essence of this delightful space. They graciously welcomed my request, and I was shown to my table, which, quite uniquely, was designated by a number--a small detail that I found charming. As I browsed the menu, I encountered a small conundrum: I wasn't entirely sure what to order. I wanted to break the mold and try something out of the ordinary. My curiosity was piqued by their exclusive offering of Café de la Olla--a traditional hot drink that piqued my interest right away. I ultimately settled on a hearty plate that included rice, beans, and enticing potato tostones, accompanied by two beautifully cooked sunny-side-up eggs. As I waited for my order, I noticed the café was filled with the sweet sounds of old-school music from the '60s and '70s, which only enhanced the cozy ambiance while I sipped my drink. Now, let's talk about the food! I must say, I rated the café itself a solid 4 out of 5 for its overall charm, while the rice earned a respectable 4 out of 5. The beans were rich in flavor and received a fair 3.9 out of 5. The potato tostones, delicately bathed in a savory red sauce, stood out with an impressive score of 4.3 out of 5--these are a must-try if you visit! And as for the sunny-side-up eggs, they were good, but hey, eggs are eggs, right? Overall, the entire experience was quite enjoyable, from the delightful food to the warm atmosphere. A special shout-out goes to Ana, whose exceptional customer service made my visit even more memorable. The combination of fantastic service, inviting aesthetics, and satisfying food truly made for a perfect morning retreat. I can't recommend this spot enough for anyone looking for a relaxing place to unwind and focus on what matters.

I'd say Exclusive Cocina Mexicana is kind of hit or miss…read more The first time I went, I ordered Mexican rice and waited about 25 minutes--but it actually turned out really good. The second time, I got tacos (which are a great price), but again the wait was around 25 minutes. They also forgot my agua fresca, and I had to follow up twice just to get a refund. I gave it another shot and ordered rice again, but this time it wasn't fully cooked, which was disappointing. Honestly, I keep going back because it's affordable and super close to home, but the customer service and food quality just aren't consistent. Hoping they can improve because the potential is definitely there.

My family and I are in Montebello every weekend & crave tacos. But most street taco stands don't open till 3pm. We were drawn in by their instagram posts & how they open at 11am. They have $1 tacos EVERY DAY (carne asada is the only meat that is $2, but that's still a great deal). Sometimes when I go to other taco spots their meat is chewy/fatty. But this spot did not have the chewy meat. It was well done! We did the 8 tacos + 1 drink for $10. We ordered all meats except chorizo and can say they were all delicious - chicken was my personal favorite. Can't wait to come back
