My wife have been to the La Cenaduria with her dad for breakfast this is my first time coming to the restaurant and try out the food. My wife was telling me the food is really good. We arrive at the restaurant it was a cozy restaurant with the interior have a theme nice. We got seated right away and the waitess hand us the menu got our drink order my wife order agua fresca de sandia aka watermelon and cafe de la Hoya coffee from the pot. Then we order my wife order the chorizo with eggs and I order machaca with eggs it comes with freshly made tortillas. The waitess brought us our drink my wife took a taste of her drink she enjoy it the Agua fresca de Sandia made fresh. The coffee tasted really good it have a hint of cinnamon in the coffee like they do it in Mexico. Thev waitess brought our food the food looks really including my wife meal. I took a bite of my machaca and eggs really good lots of flavors in the machaca and shredded beef was very tender delicious. The rice and bean were very good also especially the rice haves amazing flavor and bean were good I enjoy and the potatoes were very good. My wife enjoy her chorizo and eggs. We need to come back again to the restaurant try different items. We also enjoy the service they were fast serving us.

Complimentary "sopita de semillitas"

This place survived through COVID closures unlike other of our favorite local restaurants. We have been there twice and so far it has been a pleasant experience. It is a small Mexican for restaurant. The food tastes like home made Mexican food my mom makes. We ordered from the breakfast menu two plates or chilaquiles rojos with meat one of their pancakes, egg, and sausage order. Everything was delicious. I also tried their tasty champurrado. On our second visit we ordered a carne asada green chili wet burrito. My father said it was huge and good. My mom ordered the green chili chilaquiles with rice, beans and scrambled eggs. I tried them and thought they were ok. Red chili wet we also had the red chili enchiladas with beef that were delicious. Overall we are happy and satisfied with the food and the service. Oh, the prices are also affordable.

If you love sopa aguada, this is the right place to get it, no other place in LA has sopa de letras o estrellas, highly recommended.

Jonathan Silver Food Critic X.

Eating in a restaurant that has hundreds of Yelp reviews, feels a bit like going on a date with a slutty woman. Like sticking my fork where many have been before. Clocking at a modest 22 Yelp reviews at the time of writing, La Cenaduria is different... chaste, innocent and blushing. So I am thinking that - if the food is OK - maybe we can go steady. You know me, right? A true romantic at heart! With amorous thoughts in mind, Jonathan Silver takes to the road, like a lone Samurai wandering the land, armed with his legendary tastebuds. The City of Commerce looks like a post-apocalyptic world: miles of gigantic commercial storages surrounded by barbed wire and security cameras. The traffic noise spilling from the 5 freeway is trapped and amplified between the endless walls, bouncing around like an angry pinball, before escaping upwards with a dying howl. La Cenaduria sits at a busy intersection on Garfield avenue, wrapped around the rounded corner of a low building. It looks nice and recently remodeled. I park in the back and walk through the front door. Ding! It's pretty warm inside and no customers in sight. The bright yellow tables and white booths with red trim have a definite Pollos Hermanos vibe, so I look around for Gus Frings to show up and take my order. Luckily only Blancanieves and Estelfa are at the counter, behind the colorful Aguas Frescas containers. Blanca walks me to a table with a menu, while Sergeant Estelfa stands at attention by the cooking range. This is literally the first time I've ever been waited on by someone named Snow White (Blancanieves, in Spanish). I glance at the menu and inquire about the specials; today is Bistec Ranchero. I say "bring it on Snow White", even though that wouldn't have been my first choice. Mexicans are not known for steak, but that's the special today, so fuck it. Bistec Ranchero reminds me a little bit of Italy's carne all' uccelletto or straccetti, little pieces of flattened beef sauteed with garlic, bay leaf, olive oil, salt and pepper. Typical from the region around Genoa, it's a simple and tasty dish but it requires a bit of skillful cooking or the meat may turn out tough. Of course, this being a Mexican dish, I expect it to be spicy! The Bistec, in fact, arrives doused in hot sauce, laid out in a large plate adorned with refried beans, Spanish rice, sliced avocado, green salad, fresh sliced tomatoes and grilled Chile Anaheim topped with melted cheese. Three nachos are surgically implanted into the beans, forming a miniature Mexican Stonehenge. Bubbly, handmade tortillas and the obligatory chips with sauce accompany this dish to its fateful date with Señor Silverado's salivating trap. As I expected, the meat is not exactly melt-in-your mouth. It tastes very good, but it does require a spirited molar-party. Maybe Estelfa should talk to Señor Guisados... that man can turn any meat into mush! It tastes good, however, so I dig in without bitching. All the sides are fresh and tasty, but the show-stopper is the grilled Anaheim peppers with cheese. What a pleasant surprise! Jonathan Gold would describe them as "glistening with oil, pungent with capsicin americana and with a smoky flavor reminiscent of dry-aged Chaparral". Goldie knows dozens of different ways to say "tasty"! The food goes down the very smoothly, abetted by coffee spiked with canela and the people here are very very nice. Mid-meal I am introduced to Marko Mendoza, the owner, who tells me a little bit about the history of the joint, his past as a screenwriter, then gifts me a nice coffee mug with the logo of La Cenaduria. I already feel at home here! Full-bellied, I leave the cafe' right before Marko and I become Carnales through blood-pact and I am invited to his niece's Quinceañera. However I am only allowed to leave after I promise to be back for 50-cent Taco Tuesday (Wednesdays too!) And trust me, those tacos are worth the drive! This joint is definitely not the place you go for neo-Mexican, Oaxaca-Fusion or Michoacan-Paleo, it's robust and classic Mexican food that fills you up. La Cenaduria may not be the hottest date you've ever had, but she treats you well!

Pozole!!!

We kicked things off with the queso fundido, and wow, it was absolutely delicious! Rich, melty, and packed with flavor, it was the perfect way to start the evening. For my entrée, I ordered the cochinita pibil, which was incredibly tender and saucy in the best way. My husband ordered the short rib, and it was perfectly cooked and full of flavor. On the side, we shared the papas bravas and esquite, both of which complemented our dishes perfectly. The drinks truly elevated the night. My husband and I both love mezcal, and Kateen delivered. I ordered the Valentine's Day "Zona Romántica," which featured mezcal and wine almost like a sangria, but completely unique and beautifully balanced. My husband had the "Gypsy Fever," also mezcal-based, and it was smoky, smooth, and refreshing. Between the food, cocktails, and ambiance, it made for such a romantic and memorable evening. We'll absolutely be back!!

However, the reason I'm giving 2 stars is because of the valet parking experience. First, I was charged $25 even though the sign clearly stated that valet parking is $17 for the first 3 hours, and $25 after 3 hours. Our reservation was at 6:30 PM, we arrived on time, and we left before 9 PM, so the charge did not make sense. When I asked the valet attendant, he kept saying, "because you dined there," without giving any clear explanation. If it is actually a flat rate for restaurant guests, then that should be clearly stated upfront to customers. Second, when I got into my car, I noticed that someone had touched the navigation settings because the compass direction and display were different from what I normally use. I do not understand why there was any need to adjust or touch my navigation system at all. I really think the restaurant needs to improve and better manage its valet parking system. Honestly, it felt like I was being charged a random price just because I was told, "you dined there." If there is a flat valet rate for restaurant guests, that information should be clearly communicated upfront instead of leaving customers confused at the end.

Now when you pull up originally you might think, "am I in the right place" but once you park and get into the courtyard, it is LOVELY! Amazing ambience! There is a bocce set up, string lights. It is a little slice of oasis in the middle of the fashion district. The restaurant itself - beautiful. I couldn't ask for more. Absolutely perfect in my book. Beautiful plants hanging, perfect Spanish music in the background (any place playing Natalia LaFourcade is a win). The drinks were great! I had the jungle bird which was fun. Food was so good too. The whipped beans are the star! We had the guacamole which was tasty, great tostadas with it. The arepas were good but the pork belly was a little too fatty (I know pork belly is always fatty) to the point the fat muted the flavored for the arepa a bit, but still delicious. The empanadas were great and as someone who lived in South America and ate empanadas every day, these really took me back to my Paraguay days. The squash blossoms were light and perfectly fried. Unfortunately my friends had gone to Funke the night before so they were comparing the squash blossoms and Funke won out, but they still liked Dama's! Small plates were enough for the 3 of us. The service was quick and attentive. Parking was easy for us. I will definitely be back!

They offer a "Mini" version which would be satisfactory for one person. My favorite thing about these burritos is how "home-made" they are, the salsas and meats are fresh and taste like they came out of an abuelitas kitchen. I still need to try the crunchy tacos and nachos which look great, I recommend trying this classic establishment at least once if you're in the area.
