I gotta give it them, I've been impressed. I first tried them out several months ago. I ordered hard tacos and I wasn't aware of how long it takes to order food, and then wait around for it to be served. I think I was there nearly an hour. I was very annoyed because I just thought it was going to be a quick turn around for some tacos! I almost left without the food because I had things to do! Lol luckily I stuck it out and when I tried the tacos I was very pleased. The meat was moist and flavorful. The lettuce and tomato were fresh. The salsa was good. I thought, I need to come back try other things. Fast forward to tonight - I finally returned. Again, the line was long and ordering took nearly 30 minutes before it was my turn. I ordered sopes de asada and tacos suaves de cabeza, lengua and pastor. It took over 30 mins to get the food but when it came it looked delicious and I thought all the items were very good. I ESPECIALLY loved the taco de pastor. It had great flavor and was so juicy! The lengua was very tender and had a good flavor. The cabeza was also tender with good flavor. They definitely season and cook their meats well. Too may places have very bland meats, and/or it's very chewy or dry or whatever else goes wrong. The asada on the sope was very tasty and it also was tender. I would definitely return. Do not come here if you're in a rush. This place is good if you have a lot of free time lol. It really is one cashier. There are no waiters. You have to ask the cashier for things you want like salsa or lemon or refills. I don't know why they don't get another person to help with the front, or another cook. So, just come, be chill, and expect to wait. read more

This place is a really good mom and pop restaurant. Service is good.... Walk up, place your order and wait for you number to be called. Prices are reasonable, portions are hearty, and food tastes great. The tables, floors and restrooms were clean as well. I am not a fan of tacos, but the carne asada tacos are so delicious! It's the only place that I crave them from. Taco Boy is a small restaurant and the wait times can last up to an hour. Tucked away in a small shopping strip next to a veterinary clinic and a Oaxaca Bakery sits Taco Boy. In a time when everything costs $15 and up Taco Boy has you covered because almost everything is around $6-$12 and the food is as if a loved one from a long time ago cooked it. We ordered a dinner special plate called Tampiquena which consist of pan fried skirt steak perfectly seasoned with two enchiladas made with in house red sauce, beans, rice and a side salad. All this costs $13.50 which honestly was a great value because it's very tasty. Also ordered the two Sopes special plate with asada which came with all the typical fixings. What we really liked about the Sopes is that it's freshly made Sopes made with masa. I highly recommend this place because of the quality, price and generous portions. I was a little concerned with the quality since the prices were so affordable but apparently this establishment still values the community so much they're keeping their prices low. I've been coming to Taco Boy on Slauson for their taco special that comes with a soda. The prices are very reasonable, especially compared to other Mexican restaurants, and the food has always been good. I haven't tried much of the menu yet, but I also haven't heard anyone complain about the quality. One thing to keep in mind is the wait time. Even if you call your order in ahead of time, expect about a 20-minute wait. I'd recommend ordering ahead with that in mind if you're in a hurry. My only real criticism is the staffing. The young man working the front is expected to do way too much by himself. He's taking orders, handling payments, answering the phone, and bringing hot food out to customers dining in. That's a lot for one person, and it's not fair to him or to the customers waiting. This isn't a complaint about the employee--he works hard. It's a suggestion for management. Hiring one more person to help at the front would make a huge difference. Service would be faster, the phone could actually be answered more consistently, and the employee wouldn't have to juggle so many responsibilities at once. Overall, I'd still recommend Taco Boy for the good food, generous portions, and fair prices. I just hope management gives their hardworking front counter employee the support he deserves. read more

I am writing this review in regards to their 5 dollar breakfast burritos only as I have not tried anything else yet. My coworker brings me one from time to time when he goes there, he does say that is gets very packed but it is worth the wait. The flour tortilla tastes homemade which is always a plus in my book. It includes scrambled egg, refried beans, and whatever meat you want like bacon or sausage. I always get bacon, this burrito is so freaking good and it is not too big but it fills you up. I could eat two back to back, they are that satisfying in taste and quality. Also, the red sauce you add on top is delicious! It reminds me of the red sauce from Chipotle's but it is better. We look at the menu and decide to order my wife order the three potatoe enchilada and I order the three chicken hard tacos. They call our number then I pick up our meal it looks so good. My chicken hard tacos were very crispy and chicken was season good with great flavors top with shredded cabbage and Mexican cheese with spicy sauce on top the tacos. My wife potato enchiladas were very good I got a taste it's really good it have a good flavor but also little bit spicy if you love spicy food this is the place.
