Great service and quality! I come often for their lunch specials. It's very quick and healthy

Surf & Turf Burrito. Huge!!

First time trying this place! Had a steady crowd so why not? Walked in and was immediately greeted by friendly staff. Love the open kitchen so I can see what they're making. I ordered the Surf & Turf Burrito, Baja style. Was a little worried about how many shrimp they'd give me, but I was pleasantly surprised by the plump shrimp! Carne asado was solid and they have a salsa bar! Burrito was huge and tasty!! And they have daily specials too. I'm definitely coming back soon!

They were fresh, crunchy, with ample green tomatillo salsa that was flavorful, making for a very authentic bite. The beans were very good and complemented the chilaquiles perfectly. Authentic Mexican flavors showcased well. Service: The waitress was friendly, attentive, and joyfully answered my questions about the menu. I also asked about the traditional colorful head piece located behind glass next to the register and learned that it is a Chinelo, a traditional iconic carnival character from Morelos, Mexico. It is clear, the restaurant owners are proud of their heritage and are sharing it with everyone. Ambiance: The small but cozy restaurant features an incredibly vibrant, maximalist indoor garden vibe that immediately makes you feel like you are dining inside an enchanted greenhouse. Dense artificial greenery blankets the walls and ceiling. The cozy, casual neighborhood layout is packed with personality, featuring playful multicolored floral tablecloths, festive flags, and unique lived-in accents. This restaurant is in such an obscure location, I can't believe I was going to a Burrito Track across the street for so many years not knowing this place existed. Friendly staff and prompt service. The unfortunate negative is it's location and I'm referring to parking. There must be 8 business crammed into this lot. With a bar to the right and a laudermat on its left finding a parking spot is like winning the lotto. Now layer in one driveway and you have to make a 3 point turn just to navigate to leave. The short answer is I will absolutely go back to this place as long as there is a parking space to be had.

We came here because my cousin DJSP was the featured DJ this Sunday, so I did my Yelp research and to be honest, I didn't know what to expect because the most recent reviews were a couple of months old, no recent food photos and menu photos were outdated. However we were going either way because it was also our featured DJ's birthday. We made reservations but that was difficult too as we called for several days until someone actually answered the phone. I was a little surprised because the food we ordered were all pretty tasty, decent portions, and reasonably priced. The service was ok. Orders took a little time to arrive, but they made sure we had chips and salsa and with a full crowd and a limited number of wait staff, they made sure we were still being attended too. It is very loud here with a full restaurant of diners, the live DJ and football games going with loud cheering fans, so if you have sensitive hearing, bring some ear plugs.

Now for the food, the original dish I wanted to order was currently unavailable that day, but all good, I ordered the octopus dish instead and it was delicious! It was actually very filling and I didn't feel like they just gave me a skimpy piece of octopus like how other places do sometimes! The green salsa on it was very tasty, and the sope underneath was a nice touch! It also comes with a side of rice and bell peppers which was very good! I also tried a little bit of Mole from another dish and the mole was very flavorful!! Our waiter was nice and the food didn't take long to come out at all. I do plan on coming back to try other dishes and appetizers/drinks as well. The menu wasn't super extensive, but I think they still had a good amount of options to choose from!

The refried beans and rice tasted good and that is one of my requirements for authentic Mexican cuisine. We lucked out because Golden Road Brewing was there promoting their Mango Cart wheat ale. The service was helpful and courteous and we enjoyed our evening there. I can't wait to go again and try something else on the menu.

Well I received the flautas (which were very tasty) but they were BALD. There was about one tablespoon worth of guacamole on the side. And a tiny little pinch of lettuce. I immediately asked the waitress if it was missing the toppings, and she said "yes it's missing sour cream." She left and came back and said there was no more sour cream. A Mexican restaurant without sour cream? Oh! really wish I would've known that before ordering because, like I said, I love my flautas drenched in toppings. I would've ordered something else had I known there was no sour cream. I requested some extra guacamole to make up for the lack of sour cream. With guacamole and the salsa that comes with chips, it still tasted pretty good but my heart was wishing I had sour cream and tons of cheese. It was definitely a tasty meal but was a HUGE miss on the lack of toppings, which is what I crave when I order flautas. I've never seen flautas look so sad and lonely. The rice and beans were okay. Not too bad not too good. Just ok. It's a shame the restaurant is super beautiful but the food doesn't really seem authentic.

Because of the high volume of the music, my wife and I were talking loudly just to hear each other across the table--standard for a noisy room, and we were having a good time. There were only one or two other couples in the entire dining room, seated clear across the restaurant. Out of nowhere, after we had finished our food and were halfway through our drinks, our server, Jacob, walked up and bluntly announced, "You guys are talking really loud." Without giving any prior polite request or warning, he immediately took away our drinks--a bottle of champagne for mimosas we had barely started (we hadn't even had more than one drink each and were completely sober)--and told us he was getting the manager. We sat there completely dumbfounded for 10 minutes with no food, no drinks, and no check, waiting for management while everyone else in the place was silent. When the manager, Javier, finally came over, we explained how ridiculous and unprofessional the situation was. He switched our server and offered to return our drinks, but by that point, the experience was ruined and we just wanted to leave. We explicitly asked Javier to remove the drinks from the bill, and he promised he would "take care of it." When the revised bill arrived, we noticed they had still left a $9 charge for the drinks. We had to flag down the new server to fix Javier's error. To make matters worse, when we reviewed the pre-adjusted bill photo my wife took, we realized they had automatically tacked on a $2 "credit card fee" before we had even presented a form of payment (we ended up paying cash). Between Jacob's shocking lack of hospitality, Javier's slow and incomplete handling of the issue, and predatory automatic card fees added upfront, this was one of the worst dining experiences we've had. Save your money and go somewhere that actually values its customers.

It seems to me that insomnia would be better suited to the name of a coffee shop than a Mexican restaurant, but names have never been my department. Let me begin by saying that the food was good, the beer was cold, and the bill was so reasonable that you almost felt you had gotten away with something. The place itself is another matter. The decorations are gauche in the determined way of a restaurant that has been decorated rather than furnished. The music is loud enough to discourage conversation, and the temperature was kept a skosh below uncomfortable, as though the management had made a study of the precise point at which a person begins to sweat. I had two El Sonora tacos, one beef and one carnitas, and both were excellent. The Anaheim pepper, stuffed with cheese, was the thing that pushed the taco from merely good into the territory of something worth remembering. The signature flautas were also very good, which surprised me because I have never been much of a flauta man. The beer came properly cold. They serve Victoria, my favorite Mexican beer and one that, for reasons I have never understood, is not available in nearly as many places as it ought to be. Then there was the bad. A waitress pushed two tables together to make a four-top. The resulting table was so uneven that it appeared to be considering collapse. It teetered to one side throughout the meal, and although the problem could have been corrected with two folded napkins under a table leg, nobody seemed interested in conducting such an operation. And then there was the ugly. A man sitting at the bar was eating his dinner and drinking a beer while taking intermittent puffs from a vape. There was something about the whole arrangement, the beer, the food, the vapor hanging around his face that made the place feel, for a moment, less like Southern California and more like Mexico. I suppose that is part of the charm they were going for. Anyway, the food was good. The beer was cold. The prices were fair. But restaurants are made up of more than tacos and beer, and Desvelado never quite managed to get the rest of it right. I can say with some confidence that I might be back.
