Tostada Ceviche de Camarón
Jason B.

One of my favorite Mariscos spots in Whittier. Has been here as long as I can remember, and I haven't been here in years. The food taste just as great as it always did. Covered outdoor seating with a walk up window to order your food. Staff is super friendly, even if you don't speak Spanish.

One of my favorite seafood places. Great quick friendly service with outdoor seating and some of the freshest and tastiest food around.

Fish tacos

Dropped in for lunch at this Mariscos restaurant. Easy parking in their lot and all the seating is outdoors but under a comfortable roofed area. Prices aren't cheap but since it's a popular restaurant, all seafood tastes fresh. The ceviche de pescado is great, perfect dicing of fish and veggies and two tostadas included in the serving. The fish taco on the other hand isn't great. Instead of having a big piece of breaded fish, it has small nuggets of breaded fish. Nice and crunchy but you taste the breading more than the fish. Still glad this restaurant is nearby me.

Shrimp Cocktail

Purchased two shrimp cocktails and they were disgusted. Throw them away, they had a terrible smell and they do not clean the shrimp. Do NOT recommend this place.

Always such good and fresh mariscos! Love their fish and shrimp ceviche such good flavors and quality. Oysters are always fresh and refreshing.Fast and good service with very friendly and kind staff!

This place is bomb! I love their shrimp and fish tacos. Fried to crispiness how I like it! I haven't tried their ceviche, but my bf loves the mojarra frita. Crack open a beer and enjoy a michelada with recycling bins nearby to recycle. I crave these tacos often

Terrible !!!! Let's start for the seating , you seat on weird metallic benches where you get wind gust as you eat , then the camarones costa azul were super deep fried , almost to charcoal, then the campechana cocktail was full with imitation crab and no flavor of nothing , the place looks divey , I only give this place a 2 stars because staff is friendly , other than that , is a do not come here no more place for me

This place used to be good. This is their coctel campechana. Kind of depressing.

2.5-3/5 - This place is good for hot items that required it to be fried or cooked time of ordering. I've had the bacon wrapped shrimp and that's really good, sides were ok. But my disappointment has been their cócteles, they have no flavor and skimp out sometimes, I've had more octopus pieces than shrimp and a whole lot of diced cucumbers and tomatoes. Service is prompt and quick, just the lack of flavor on some items is what makes it more of a 2.5 rating. Maybe I went on a slow, bad day.

Great food and customer service. Very clean and great ambiance . Great prices. Definitely come in back.

Order ahead through Grubhub to avoid the long lines on the weekends. I ordered a shrimp cocktail and my husband order the ceviche de pescado. 6/10 for the shrimp cocktail, they didn't add avocado slices and it had absolutely no flavor. I had to add 10packets of ketchup and 4 packets of tapatío, 2 salt packets which they do provide. 9/10 ceviche Tostadas and crackers are included. I do appreciate this customer service for providing all items and condiments without asking. Outdoor seating only. Plenty of tables available

Mojarra on a bed of rice and french fries - really good

We have come twice and the food is excellent and at affordable price. We had the clams, ceviche, fish tacos and mojarra. The mojarra comes on a bed of rice and french fries they are very tasty. All the see food is clean and fresh. We had it to go and we have eaten there. Although we forgot to check the order before we left, we didn't have any issues with the order. Everything needed was there. The reason why I took away a star is because of the eating area cleanliness. There are no waiters and that's ok, but they need to have at least one full time person cleaning the tables and picking up.

Shrimp ceviche. We always add crab/jaiba. Makes it so much better.

Place is okay some of the food could use some more flavor. The shrimp abondiga soup is pretty good but has a kick to it!

The idea was to enjoy my coffee while getting organized--paying bills, planning calendar events, and having the opportunity to focus without any distractions from my usual surroundings. In search of the perfect spot, I turned to Yelp, a reliable resource for uncovering hidden gems nearby. Upon stepping into the coffee shop, I was immediately greeted with warm hospitality, setting the tone for a delightful experience. The ambiance of the place was truly captivating--it was bright and welcoming, infused with an aesthetic charm that instantly put me at ease. I couldn't help but be intrigued by the design elements throughout the shop, which added an inviting touch to its overall atmosphere. Before I settled in, I asked the staff if I could snap a few photos to capture the essence of this delightful space. They graciously welcomed my request, and I was shown to my table, which, quite uniquely, was designated by a number--a small detail that I found charming. As I browsed the menu, I encountered a small conundrum: I wasn't entirely sure what to order. I wanted to break the mold and try something out of the ordinary. My curiosity was piqued by their exclusive offering of Café de la Olla--a traditional hot drink that piqued my interest right away. I ultimately settled on a hearty plate that included rice, beans, and enticing potato tostones, accompanied by two beautifully cooked sunny-side-up eggs. As I waited for my order, I noticed the café was filled with the sweet sounds of old-school music from the '60s and '70s, which only enhanced the cozy ambiance while I sipped my drink. Now, let's talk about the food! I must say, I rated the café itself a solid 4 out of 5 for its overall charm, while the rice earned a respectable 4 out of 5. The beans were rich in flavor and received a fair 3.9 out of 5. The potato tostones, delicately bathed in a savory red sauce, stood out with an impressive score of 4.3 out of 5--these are a must-try if you visit! And as for the sunny-side-up eggs, they were good, but hey, eggs are eggs, right? Overall, the entire experience was quite enjoyable, from the delightful food to the warm atmosphere. A special shout-out goes to Ana, whose exceptional customer service made my visit even more memorable. The combination of fantastic service, inviting aesthetics, and satisfying food truly made for a perfect morning retreat. I can't recommend this spot enough for anyone looking for a relaxing place to unwind and focus on what matters.

We came here because my cousin DJSP was the featured DJ this Sunday, so I did my Yelp research and to be honest, I didn't know what to expect because the most recent reviews were a couple of months old, no recent food photos and menu photos were outdated. However we were going either way because it was also our featured DJ's birthday. We made reservations but that was difficult too as we called for several days until someone actually answered the phone. I was a little surprised because the food we ordered were all pretty tasty, decent portions, and reasonably priced. The service was ok. Orders took a little time to arrive, but they made sure we had chips and salsa and with a full crowd and a limited number of wait staff, they made sure we were still being attended too. It is very loud here with a full restaurant of diners, the live DJ and football games going with loud cheering fans, so if you have sensitive hearing, bring some ear plugs.

Even though the restaurant is small and busy, we were seated right away, which was a great start. Our waiter Washington, was fantastic, friendly, attentive, and made our whole experience even better. The atmosphere was perfect too. They had music playing at just the right volume and a big TV showing the live Dodger game, which the kids loved. We started with chips and salsa. The salsa had the perfect level of spice for everyone at the table. The kids ordered horchatas and were excited about the unlimited refills (something you don't always see at other restaurants!). The drinks for the adults were just as impressive. My wife's watermelon margarita on the rocks was perfectly made. It was not overly sweet or syrupy like at some places. Our friends had the "El Jefe" margaritas, and they definitely didn't skimp on the tequila! For dinner, everything was a hit. The kids loved their meals. Albóndigas soup, shrimp tacos, and street tacos--all served with rice and beans. The adult dishes were just as good. The carne asada arrachera was cooked perfectly, the chile verde was full of flavor, and my chicken mole was delicious with a great balance of spicy and sweet without being overwhelming. The portions were very generous, and everything came with rice, beans, and both corn and flour tortillas. The only small thing I would've preferred differently was the chicken in my mole. I personally would've liked a leg and thigh instead of sliced chicken breast but the dish was still very good overall. What really stood out was the hospitality. At the end of the meal, Washington offered us "holy water"-house tequila shots on the house--and it wasn't cheap tequila either! Then after the bill came, he surprised us again with another round of "holy water". That level of generosity and care really impressed us. We also learned that the restaurant has been there 20+ years and is family-run by him and his siblings, which made the experience feel even more personal. You can tell they have a loyal customer base--one couple even said, "See you tomorrow Washington!" The only feedback we'd offer (coming from a customer service background) is that we noticed a few guests waiting at the entrance without being greeted, and one couple actually left the restaurant. A simple "Welcome, we'll be right with you" would go a long way. That said, it didn't take away from our experience. Overall, amazing food, great service, generous portions, and a welcoming family atmosphere. We will definitely be back to try more of their menu!

Great food! Staff was wonderful. Definitely worth it…read more Burria was fantastic. Not tons of seats, but good enough.

I went on a taco run yesterday to try to find the best taco in Whittier…read more Started off the run with a keto taco mixed with asada and al pastor and then a regular tripa taco. Keto taco - toasted/grilled cheese instead of a regular tortilla - needed to be done a little more on one side as the cheese wasn't quite toasty enough to stay in place to slightly resemble the shape of a taco. Bit hard to eat, covered my hands in grease. Asada tastes almost boiled, and this being my 2nd or 3rd time getting the Asada here, it consistently tastes like it was boiled and not grilled. Unsure of meat quality or preparation, but there are no grill marks and it's a bit chewy. Same with the al pastor. Tripa taco was bizarre. Strips of flat skin instead of the usual roundish, cylindrical shape of tripa (intestine). Usually a saltier, fattier meat than asada, which is my preference but the one here was lacking in flavor and the texture threw me off a bit. Tripa can be chewy - unless requested extra done, which is how I normally order it - but there was no saving this tripa. I think it needs to be sliced differently, the cuts made it inedible. Brother shared some of his chorizo taco and it was the better of the bunch. Red chorizo, TJ style, although it was also lacking a teeny bit in flavor... onions and cilantro to the rescue! Still, mediocre. Salsas were ok, nothing out of the ordinary. Don't think the tortillas were homemade. Service was fine, cashier takes your order, dude at the counter was chill and had a friendly attitude. Seating was limited. Mostly bar style seating but the majority was in front of a window and it had so much heat trapped from the glass that it was kind of uncomfortable. Other seats are too close to the bathroom. Good for a quick bite or just pick-up orders. Wouldn't plan a sit down/dine-in visit. Parking is scarce and has really small spots, wouldn't come if you're driving a pick-up truck or anything like that. Food was reasonably priced, which is good, however; the food was lacking so I would not return.

It took awhile to get my water, and I had to ask for chips and salsa, because I guess they don't hand them out unless you request them. I ordered my food the two taco lunch combo. It looked good, however, the food was pretty bland. Even adding the salsa really didn't help. Also the hard taco shells looked like the kind you can get ordering tacos at Taco Bell. Lastly, when getting the check, I noticed that they add an automatic charge if you pay with a credit card. Even though it wasn't much, I paid with cash to avoid that.
