They were fresh, crunchy, with ample green tomatillo salsa that was flavorful, making for a very authentic bite. The beans were very good and complemented the chilaquiles perfectly. Authentic Mexican flavors showcased well. Service: The waitress was friendly, attentive, and joyfully answered my questions about the menu. I also asked about the traditional colorful head piece located behind glass next to the register and learned that it is a Chinelo, a traditional iconic carnival character from Morelos, Mexico. It is clear, the restaurant owners are proud of their heritage and are sharing it with everyone. Ambiance: The small but cozy restaurant features an incredibly vibrant, maximalist indoor garden vibe that immediately makes you feel like you are dining inside an enchanted greenhouse. Dense artificial greenery blankets the walls and ceiling. The cozy, casual neighborhood layout is packed with personality, featuring playful multicolored floral tablecloths, festive flags, and unique lived-in accents. It's an energetic setting for a lively meal.

I was pumping my gas at a Shell station when I discovered this marvelous taqueria, can we say the…read moreright place at the right time? My stomach was growling while my left hand was holding the pump. I made complete eye contact with the taqueria straight ahead. I started drooling on my pump, and had to use napkin to wipe myself up! I knew I was destined to go there!l lol. Going in, it was a MEGA sized menu running literally 15 x ft wide. I swear can see the words even if you're blind! They have lots of options but the one that sparked my interest was the Gringa De Harina! First of all, I've never heard of a Gringa in a Mexican menu, only just gringo lol so I knew I had to try! Gringa is basically a large ass quesadilla, harina is the flour tortilla, not to mention made from scratch! I ended up picking the carne asada option. Figured you can't go wrong hahaha. Food was quick, it was ready in less than 10 mins. It came with red and green sauce on the side. First bite - omg EPIC!! Flavors of meat and cheese exploded in my mouth, combined with the softness of the homemade tortilla = Heaven!! The sauces made it even better, with a kick! If you have made it reading this far, give the gringa de harina a shot! You are welcome!

Not stylish or festive ... but also not loud or off putting either. Basic. 4/5 Food: Traditional and comforting....generous portions. Ordered the chile verde/chile colorado from the chef specialities section of menu....our lovely server Bertha pointed it out since my cousin wanted to try both.....I had the very cheesy chile relleno.....came with generous portion of beans and rice...it was great for me nothing too salty but the two rellenos were only lukewarm tho the cheeze was well melted....it was good and hearty 4/5......chips and salsa free....the chips had a Doritos style color dusting of red 5/5 some kind of spice maybe??...it was fresh and crunchy and kinda thick, we liked it plus the salsa was not hot just tangy....we asked for Pico de Gallo but they don't serve it a la carte apparently. It comes as part of an entree, but never found out which one. Turns out the cook/owner was once the executive chef at Angel Stadium. So food was solid, traditional and nothing fancy nouvelle or la de da...nothing crazy experimental...just good solid Mex that will satisfy a craving. The Jamaica was not too sweet not too sour....not watered down...light and refreshing....wish I had asked for a refill or maybe they don't do refills on agua frescos, I don't know. Very nice extensive menu. Plenty of free parking. Tucked in the corner of a strip mall on Roaemead Blvd. Not easily visible from the street in any direction. So pay attention to your GPS.

I've been anticipating the opening of this restaurant for some time since I pass it all the time…read moreand saw the outside signage come up. We came for Friday night dinner and were unfortunately disappointed with the food. The staff were warm, welcoming, and attentive that set the tone for a potential great dinning experience. This was our first time here and our server went over the menu, which added another layer of enjoyment to our evening. This night the restaurant had live music and the singer serenade my wife since it was her birthday and so did the staff. Now let's talk about the heart and soul of El Chlito, the food. The menu boasts an array of authentic Mexican cuisine that fell short of our expectations. Unfortunately my wife's dish was rancid and unpalatable but my dish was delicious and mouthwatering. We decide not to complain since we were enjoying our drinks snd live music. So this was definitely a hit and miss dinning experience when it came to this food. However the restaurant was festive and décor esthetically pleasant. We so wanted all the components of the restraint to shine but unfortunately the food fell short of our expectations!
