I've been anticipating the opening of this restaurant for some time since I pass it all the time and saw the outside signage come up. We came for Friday night dinner and were unfortunately disappointed with the food. The staff were warm, welcoming, and attentive that set the tone for a potential great dinning experience. This was our first time here and our server went over the menu, which added another layer of enjoyment to our evening. This night the restaurant had live music and the singer serenade my wife since it was her birthday and so did the staff. Now let's talk about the heart and soul of El Chlito, the food. The menu boasts an array of authentic Mexican cuisine that fell short of our expectations. Unfortunately my wife's dish was rancid and unpalatable but my dish was delicious and mouthwatering. We decide not to complain since we were enjoying our drinks snd live music. So this was definitely a hit and miss dinning experience when it came to this food. However the restaurant was festive and décor esthetically pleasant. We so wanted all the components of the restraint to shine but unfortunately the food fell short of our expectations! read more

Hey! I liked my ceviche. I showed up about 1/2 before closing time. I was craving ceviche. I was a little concerned that it was end of day and didn't know if eating ceviche would be a risk. I was craving it much I got it anyway. The service waiter was very nice. He was patient with me choosing bc I was conflicted with what to choose bc of all the options. When it came it was beautiful and it tasted good. No odd or old flavors. The juice was very good. The tostadas were nice and crunchy. I slurped the juice from the plate when I ate all the food lol. So I and my brother came here because at another restaurant I'll name it later you had to reserve for the weekend only so we spotted this area and we walked in. We did get greeted upon walking in the door and we did get service right away. We ordered two drinks and we ordered our food. Our waitress was very kind and definitely checked on us.. even though We were the only people in the restaurant it just showed that we didn't get passed up because she could have ignored us. Well, this was terrible way to celebrate my mom on Mother's Day! The restaurant had a great ambiance and entertainment but what we were really coming for was the food. The food was very subpar, we ordered the following: Camarones Con Carne- shrimp was not seasoned and bland, meat cooked fairly well, and all the other dressings on the plate was meh! Costillas de Puerco- the rice was bland and costillas were just seasoned on light side. Queso Fundido- the cheese was not melted at all and seemed to be sitting for awhile before it was brought to us. We had to use a knife to cut the cheese "dip!" Not worth it! Chile Relleno Plate- the sauce for the chile was thick and not palatable at all. Pozole Rojo- change your meat selection, not the appropriate meat for a pozole. I think I gave this place a 2 star because the entertainment was great and the free drink for my mother was tasty. Please fix your air conditioner, there were several patrons that had issue with the heat in the restaurant and nothing was done about it. It seemed like it was in the 80s and I rather be outside with somewhat of a breeze but still in the 90s outside. Horrible experience and I needed up spending more that $200 for a very terrible time! The food was ok. The "aguas frescas" are powder mix and nasty! I asked if the was anything else and I was offered a descent strawberry lemonade not on the menu. The waitress was very friendly and courteous. The music was loud, but one can have a conversation. The ambiance is nice with a "night club feel" wheelchair accesible and kid friendly. read more

I wanted to love this restaurant. The food was pretty awful. The freshness was questionable. I literally had to spit out my food. I couldn't put my finger on it. I ordered the costa azula and not sure if it was the bacon or shrimp but it had a foul taste to it. The fries were not good also. The dip for the shrimp had too much mayonnaise. The service was fine, although I'm not drinking alcohol right now, they forced a shot of tequila and it wasn't good tequila at that. Went down like a fireball. The ambiance and entertainment were the saving factor to the experience in their effort. The singer was amateur and good intended but just not good. A bit tacky. We will not return sadly. read more

El Chilito was originally a different restaurant with a different name. However, they definitely changed everything from the menu to the scenery. The restaurant itself is very nice. They have a big bar and multiple televisions. This restaurant is definitely family friendly. Kids are welcomed and they have a good selection of food. All the servers are very welcoming and friendly. Our server in particular was very attentive and helpful. Their menu was great. They mainly serve Mariscos but they do have other dishes that are more traditional. I got the Mojarra Frita which is served with rice and beans. I went with the French fries and rice instead. My mojarra was delicious and cooked to perfection. My father in law got the cevichelada which was delicious. My husband got a botana and my mother in law the Camarones Al mojo de ajo. Everything was exquisite and made freshly. The only dish that we thought was a bit on the cold side was the Mojo de Aho but other than that everything was great. We enjoyed ourselves so much we stood for the karaoke and even sang a big too. This restaurant is perfect for any occasion and they have a dance floor on Saturday nights. Show them some love if you're in the Pico Rivera area. read more

My family and I met here on a Friday evening around 6. If you are looking for somewhere to have a QUIET, intimate dinner, do not come here! We had the full banda after 7pm along with folks partying all over. They had another side to the restaurant with no stage, but they were not seating people there. The staff were all very friendly but no one spoke clear English. The food was OK, chips and salsa/guac were good as appetizers but they only bring you literally 5 chips for the table to share. I had a party of 8. The items are really pricey and I'm pretty sure you're paying for the experience, they have VIP areas roped off from the main dining tables, disco lights, a full bar... Not OUR cup of tea but it did seem pretty poppin for the area. read more

Service: On point. From the moment you walk in you're warmly greeted and taken to your table. We were their before 6p on Friday and they gave us options to seat. Food: Excellent. The fish ceviche was super tasty just the right amount of tanginess flavor and fresh. Watch out Maricos Croix. The hot plate was also excellent. Rice and beans was fresh with great taste to accompany the al pastor and cheese enchilada. The asada taco dorado was yummy, and the meat had great flavor too not bland like other places. Drinks: We had the Michelada Clásico and a margarita. I can be picky about Michelada taste because I've had some that can be sweet (yuck) but their michi was really really good along with the rim dip and a shrimp to garnish (ahhhhh) yummo. It was nice try it out on you seafood restaurant, but I will stick to the restaurant where I get a real good portion of food whole fried fish with beans and rice and a salad for almost half the price of what I paid there. Thought I would give this place another try. I have since placed 2 orders, on two separate occasions. One time I ordered a caldo de camarón. I did not receive any condiments for my soup, such as onions, cilantro or limón. But the soup was good. Friday evening I decided to go there with my bf and have a michelada and a small bites. I had the chilichelada. The first one was good, but by the second one it was sloppy made and was way too spicy, compared to the first one. Location and Ambiance is very clean and trendy. Lots of free parking. Service is on point, very attentive and detailed. All servers are very professional and polite. But we felt slightly rushed. Food needs to be worked on it was bland. My pozole was served super hot not spicy but my husband's shrimp and asada skillet plate was cold and bland. Drinks are descent. My husband had a standard michelada and I had a Cadillac margarita. They offer a lot of other drinks with "cute names" but one drink is all we need. This was our first time visiting this place. We learned they have live music mariachi from 6-7pm then another live band from 7 till closing. They also offer valet parking. I'm guessing this place gets packed and it explains why on Yelp it says make a reservation. We would give this place another try. read more

The server Eric was not attentive to our table. The restaurant has only 2 servers working on the busiest days. They offer $15 unlimited mimosas, however they do not top you off for unlimited.
