Food: 6/10 Service: 7/10 Ambiance: 7/10 Went here for the micheladas but was a little disappointed. The food lacked flavor, and definitely on the higher price point. Churros were cold, and not worth the presentation. Maybe an off night for the staff? The highlight was the show and the DJ.

So I and my brother came here because at another restaurant I'll name it later you had to reserve for the weekend only so we spotted this area and we walked in. We did get greeted upon walking in the door and we did get service right away. We ordered two drinks and we ordered our food. Our waitress was very kind and definitely checked on us.. even though We were the only people in the restaurant it just showed that we didn't get passed up because she could have ignored us. She could have went about doing other things to get prepared for the rest of the day. Amelia gracias. She actually went down a list of things that we can come back to as first-timers.

The food was ok. The "aguas frescas" are powder mix and nasty! I asked if the was anything else and I was offered a descent strawberry lemonade not on the menu. The waitress was very friendly and courteous. The music was loud, but one can have a conversation. The ambiance is nice with a "night club feel" wheelchair accesible and kid friendly.

Their costa azul. Cute presentation but the taste of everything was bad, even the rice was bad

I wanted to love this restaurant. The food was pretty awful. The freshness was questionable. I literally had to spit out my food. I couldn't put my finger on it. I ordered the costa azula and not sure if it was the bacon or shrimp but it had a foul taste to it. The fries were not good also. The dip for the shrimp had too much mayonnaise. The service was fine, although I'm not drinking alcohol right now, they forced a shot of tequila and it wasn't good tequila at that. Went down like a fireball. The ambiance and entertainment were the saving factor to the experience in their effort. The singer was amateur and good intended but just not good. A bit tacky. We will not return sadly.

El Chilito was originally a different restaurant with a different name. However, they definitely changed everything from the menu to the scenery. The restaurant itself is very nice. They have a big bar and multiple televisions. This restaurant is definitely family friendly. Kids are welcomed and they have a good selection of food. All the servers are very welcoming and friendly. Our server in particular was very attentive and helpful. Their menu was great. They mainly serve Mariscos but they do have other dishes that are more traditional. I got the Mojarra Frita which is served with rice and beans. I went with the French fries and rice instead. My mojarra was delicious and cooked to perfection. My father in law got the cevichelada which was delicious. My husband got a botana and my mother in law the Camarones Al mojo de ajo. Everything was exquisite and made freshly. The only dish that we thought was a bit on the cold side was the Mojo de Aho but other than that everything was great. We enjoyed ourselves so much we stood for the karaoke and even sang a big too. This restaurant is perfect for any occasion and they have a dance floor on Saturday nights. Show them some love if you're in the Pico Rivera area.

Service: On point. From the moment you walk in you're warmly greeted and taken to your table. We were their before 6p on Friday and they gave us options to seat. Food: Excellent. The fish ceviche was super tasty just the right amount of tanginess flavor and fresh. Watch out Maricos Croix. The hot plate was also excellent. Rice and beans was fresh with great taste to accompany the al pastor and cheese enchilada. The asada taco dorado was yummy, and the meat had great flavor too not bland like other places. Drinks: We had the Michelada Clásico and a margarita. I can be picky about Michelada taste because I've had some that can be sweet (yuck) but their michi was really really good along with the rim dip and a shrimp to garnish (ahhhhh) yummo. Ambience: The music was good playing cumbias, regional Mexican music, reggaeton, there was a TV playing sports as well, and live Banda was setting up. Bonus: Different Happy Hour Drinks Everyday. Overall, definitely worth trying!

Celebrated a birthday party here with a large group and Noe was our server, he was fantastic! Super attentive and fun! The food was super good and I'd recommend this new place to anyone and everyone. Great atmosphere, the staff was really fun and the music was a mix of Spanish & English classics which made the night even more lit. Definitely recommend!

Festive and flavorful seafood, fun music, and attentive staff. This small joint gets very loud in the evening but is a good time if you're looking for yummy drinks.

Once we were ready she had our table already prepared. We have to order inside first before you can be seated. Once seated our food came out not too long after. Everything looked and tasted delicious! We ordered the chilaquiles verde, short rib omelette, tropical pancakes (seasonal), and the mango curd french toast (seasonal). The chilaquiles verde was savory and tangy. It wasn't soggy at all and definitely one of my favorite dishes. The short rib omelette was savory but didn't give me any wow factor compared to the other dishes I ordered. The tropical pancakes were so pretty. I only tried a piece of it without the syrup which I think was a mistake because the kumquat syrup was my friend's favorite. I definitely need to try it again with the syrup. Best for last, mango curd French toast was my favorite! I fell in love with sweetness and tanginess of the mango curd. The French toast was soft and you can taste the butter. I wish it was a main menu item. I'll definitely be sad to see it go. They have lots of seating inside and outside.

I was curious about the level of accessibility and clearer directions on where to stand when the line passes the framing of the restaurant. But Great Downey location! Diversity score 1-5: 1.5 As a Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion in the workplace professional, in order to garner financial success of any business is to be intentional about representation in your business. Diversity is not just about color but it also includes accessibility for the handicapped community, Braille menus, and possibly more signage that displays the type of service a customer can expect. Please contact me for consultation services. Service/Ambiance/Environment: The service is where my issue lies. I did appreciate that as we were waiting in line to enter, we were given menus to assist in deciding what we wanted before we reached the inside. The cashiers were both super nice and even offered a taste of the Rose' slushy which was phenomenal. When ordering at the register, the sweet service was continued and we chose where to sit. It was bright and busy inside and we sat right in front of the expo station. I was truly enjoying the environment and it had me reminiscing of my brunch days in New York City. My guest and I were chatting and enjoying our Mimosa's and then my guests food arrives first. Not that it matters but in service certain things do and the female presenting person SHOULD always receive their food first. That was a surprise to me but I didn't read into as I expected my dish to arrive right behind. It did not. My guest and I continued to chat and sip until 20 mins later, as I'm watching dishes leave the expo station, did I say "where is my food?" The young server at the expo turned and rolled their eyes and then finally gave me my food. This was a buzz kill. I only went down a rabbit hole about it until I noticed I was the only Black person present. First, why would it ever been ok to not have dishes arriving to tables separately without saying "ma'am we're a little behind.." or to my guest "do you mind if we hold your dish a bit so we can make sure the food arrives together?" Being a previous server in high pace restaurants, communication, apologies, and ensuring perfect service is the goal. Poached is not a store front or even a little diner type of place. It's a casual, upbeat, bright breakfast/brunch spot. And yes, on busy days things happen but to not offer a reason, or apology, and giving the customer attitude is unacceptable. Food: The description of the food is well written. The prices are reasonable. I ordered the short rib omelette with whole grain toast and house potatoes. When I Finally received my food it looked great and I was eager to dig in. A first bite of the omelette I was sadly underwhelmed. The seasoning left much to be desired and it seamed to be more of a birria short rib flavor and I thought I chose the dish based on being excited about the combination of meat and cheese (which was barely there). I enjoyed the bread and potatoes more than the omelette. Go again score 1-5: 2 I really think this restaurant and it's operation needs some massaging, the cooks need to be trained, and a REAL chef needs to help improve the quality and taste of the food.

Although there is parking in the front, it's very limited. We later found there is much more convenient parking in the back, which I definitely recommend using. As soon as you walk in, you can tell it's a family-owned, mom-and-pop restaurant. Even though the dining area is small, it feels warm, welcoming, and comfortable. It also seems to be a favorite among the locals, which is always a good sign. The service was excellent. The staff frequently checked on us, kept our water glasses full, and happily accommodated my fiancée's special request for her meal. The food was fantastic. My fiancée ordered the Wet Burrito without the cheese on top. It came with chips, and even though they were in the sauce, they somehow stayed crispy throughout the meal. She loved every bite. I ordered the chicken and waffles with whipped cream and strawberries. The chicken was fried to perfection--crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside, and well-seasoned throughout without being overly breaded. The waffles were delicious and paired perfectly with the toppings. We also shared a biscuit with gravy. The biscuit was soft, fluffy, and moist enough that it honestly didn't even need the gravy. That said, the gravy was rich, flavorful, and not overly salty, making it a great complement. Overall, we had a wonderful experience. The food, service, and atmosphere all exceeded our expectations. I highly recommend giving this place a try--and don't forget to park in the back!
