Are go to place for brunch food is always so good. Juan Carlos did an amazing job, very attentive to our needs and ensuring that our experience was enjoyable. The menu offered a delightful variety of dishes, each more tempting than the last.

Sunday Brunch at its best...The service is excellent and the food is so delicious. The staff surprised my Daughters and sang Happy Birthday with delicious Flan and a candle. I will bring my family back for Mother's Day to enjoy the Mariachis.

So many choices! We made a reservation for 7 for Sunday brunch, this is the second time visiting and first time during brunch, area is very clean and organized, personnel friendly, the restaurant has a welcome vibe, prices are fair considering there are dozens of choices, food is fresh and has a homemade taste. Will definitely be back

This El Torito has been around a long time. I realized how valuable this location is to the area. The staff have always friendly and helpful. Service is on par and the wait for food is minimal. I came here recently to redeem my birthday entree Reward (with sign up for their reward program). We opted for the bar area to access their happy hour menu. Here you can order both happy hour items and regular menu items, the best of both worlds. I ordered the Sea Taco Trio with Shrimp. It was great and the shrimp was delicious, however I preferred the salsa to add extra flavor vs. the sauce it came with! The chips and salsa are delicious! The chips are nice and warm and I couldn't get enough of the salsa. It has a little kick/spiciness but very very good. I loved it so much, I couldn't finish my main meal. My son picked the chicken tenders with a side of fruit for his kid's meal. This had a good seasoning. Although this is not a specialty of theirs, it was a really good deal: choice of kids entree, side dish and a sundae for a really good price. Happy Hour for the margaritas is a must! Such a great deal especially in today's economy. The happy hour mini tacos is filling as this comes with 4 mini tacos, however seems to have a bit more refried bean and chorizo filling than the actual steak pieces. Great for $6! Overall we had a great experience.

I really want to give this place more stars but the reason why is the portions for lunch is so tiny! I have my hand out for a comparison. This fajitas is for a small child portion size who's maybe be under 6 yrs old.even for my child who is 9 yrs old is not enough food for her. The fajitas is actually pretty good tasting for a chain. The service here is very friendly and on top of it. Ambiance is casual and simple. Hopefully after they read this and maybe other people's comment they will modify to a bit bigger portion to match their prices.

It's been years since I've visited El Torito and so when I saw they were part of dineLA this year I knew it was time for another visit. I have fond memories of visiting El Torito with my parents during their Sunday brunch. For this dineLA, I got to experience dineLA in different way - for dinner! Their dineLA dinner offering is $35 for a 3 course dinner. The first course was the appetizer. I chose to get their Crispy Flautas, while my friend chose to get their Tortilla Soup. The Crispy Flautas appetizer consisted of four grilled chicken and cheese flautas topped with cotija cheese and crema fresca. It was served with jalapeño jelly and red pepper dip. Though this dish was called "Crispy Flautas," I did feel that the "crispy" was by name only. It was not as crisp as I would have liked. Nevertheless, I still enjoyed this appetizer. It was packed with ingredients and flavors. The dipping sauces were good but not necessarily needed because the flautas with the crema fresca were already rich and tasty. The only thing lacking was the crispness. I tried a bit of my friend's Chicken Tortilla Soup and enjoyed the warm broth with chunks of chicken, avocado and tortilla strips. This was a good, light starter. For our main courses, we opted to get the Fajitas Duo with grilled chicken and skirt steak and the Carne Asada and Shrimp plate. When the Fajitas Duo came, I was surprised that it wasn't served sizzling. I'm used to having restaurants serve fajitas sizzling and smoking hot (the kind of sizzling where your clothes end up smelling like food at the end of the meal). The fajita dish was warm but definitely not sizzling. It was a little bit of a bummer but the most disappointing thing was the meat was dry. I felt both the chicken and skirt steak lacked juiciness. The side guacamole (which they initially forgot to give), definitely helped with this. The grilled vegetables also gave it a bit more flavor. I would honestly pass on fajitas next time. My friend's Carne Asada and Shrimp seemed to be the better entree. Even though this plate also consisted skirt steak, the steak for this dish was more tender and flavorful. It perhaps could be the pico de gallo that it came with. The third course was dessert. I got the Deep Fried Ice Cream and my friend got the Flan. The Deep Fried Ice Cream was a winner! I loved the crisp outer shell and the vanilla ice cream that was topped with cinnamon sugar coating. This dessert was delightful and delicious! The flan was also really enjoyable. The rich vanilla custard was smooth and sweet. I can without a doubt say dessert was the best course because of this flan and the ice cream. Overall it was nice to be back at El Torrito after so many years. dineLA definitely gave a nice opportunity to try out a variety of their offerings. I did feel like there were a few misses but nothing too bad. (The fajitas were too dry for me. I also noticed their chips were not that crisp). Nevertheless there were also some memorable and tasty dishes. (Don't skip on the dessert). For $35, I definitely left happy and full.

I had the street tacos, again, probably for the fifth time. I love the ingredients and the provided salsa. The blend makes for great flavor. For the appetizer we had the "fresh tableside guacamole." Not our first time ordering this item but it not prepared at our table. Frankly we enjoy the show and it was a bit disappointing for it to be brought of the kitchen in a bowl. But it will tasted goof, although a bit on the warm side. The waiter asked if we wanted more chips since there were only a few on the plate. The place was busy and the chips didn't come to our table for over 5 minutes. Not a big deal. We felt a bit rushed as the main courses were brought out by the server well before we finished the appraiser. That's why I dropped a star considering the waiters and servers are usually very attentive. Hopefully next time will be better. Parking till good in their big parking lot. It's a nice location

My mom and I decided we wanted Mexican food while we were out shopping so we chose El Torito on Hawthorne Blvd in Torrance. The restaurant was clean and we were immediately greeted with friendly, fast service. Once seated our waiter came to greet us. He was very nice and attentive. He always gave us updates on when our food would be ready and even asked us if we had any food allergies as we were ordering. I got a small bowl of chicken tortilla soup. The avocado had several dark areas like it had been sitting out too long. Our waiter immediately apologized and brought me a fresh cup with perfect slices of avocado. My mom ordered a chicken taco and chicken enchilada with rice and beans. I ordered the lemon rosemary chicken fajitas with rice and beans. Our food was hot, fresh and seasoned well. Of course I ate too many chips with that delicious and a little spicy salsa and had to take my food home. My mom too! The next day we both warmed up our food and it was delicious. I even shared my fajitas with my husband who also said everything tasted good. I totally forgot to take pics of our meals!!!

We weren't really starving, just wanted to check the vibes, try the food and see how it was. Unfortunately, things just weren't how we were expecting. We love mexican food and we are used to the food trucks that we can find everywhere in LA. I used to have tacos from the taco truck across the street from me when I lived in San Pedro and they were just perfect, simple and on point. I think I had that idea when I ordered the taco, but it wasn't really what I expected. It was bigger and looked beautiful, but the amount of spice was extremely high, which didn't even let me taste the flavor. And on top of it, the salt felt off too. Too much spice, not enough salt. My fiance ordered tamales, and the mole was more on the chocolate side than anything. The flavors just didn't match. Service wise we have nothing to complain about. They were nice and helpful! It's just the food that wasn't good for us.

Some Mexican restaurants can make things overly salty, but everything here tasted balanced and fresh. I also had a Paloma and it was made perfectly. When we arrived, we were pleasantly surprised by the ambiance and decided to sit outside, which felt perfect for a Sunday evening. We each ordered Orden De Tacos -- which is two tacos with rice and beans -- which seems simple enough. But after a while, we started noticing that people who arrived after us were ordering, getting their food, eating, paying, and leaving while we were still waiting. Again, all we had ordered was four tacos total, plus rice and beans. About 50 minutes after we placed our order, I finally got up to ask our waiter if he could check on our food because it had been such a long wait. If they were too busy (there were a lot of people, but not absurdly so), that's where communication could have gone a long way. Even just stopping by to acknowledge the delay or apologize for the wait would have made the experience feel very different. In the end, it took nearly an hour to get our four tacos from the time we ordered it, and the wait wasn't mentioned by staff at all. The food was okay in the end, but the experience definitely left us disappointed.

I've been to other Frida locations, such as the one in Glendale, and the food here is decent. Think of it as a slightly pricier, upscale El Torito. The guac is served in a clay pot, though they don't make it tableside like El Torito does. Overall, the food is okay, though not particularly memorable - I probably wouldn't come this location again, given the many Mexican restaurants nearby. That said, it's a fun place for celebrations (beside some safety concerns, keep reading); they do offer a free slice of cake with a candle that shoots fireworks, which is a nice touch for birthdays. The main issue for me, and the reason I cannot give a higher rating, was the customer service and safety. While we were comfortably seated, a server accidentally burned my fingers while carrying a hot plate of sizzling fajitas. I understand serving hot dishes can be challenging, but he was carrying one plate in each hand, and one of them was a cast-iron sizzling plate with hot oil. The oil splashed on my hand, causing a burn that immediately turned my skin pink. What concerned me most was how the situation was handled. I had to track down the floor manager to report the incident, and the response was not proactive or apologetic. The manager even made a sarcastic comment about whether he should call an ambulance. This left me feeling that proper training on handling hot plates and customer service may be lacking. As I mentioned, it is a competitive market and neighborhood for good Mexican restaurants, and given their poor quality in service and safety, you can be sure I will never return to eat here. I share this not to be harsh, but as constructive feedback. The food itself is fine, and the setting works for celebrations, but safety and respectful, professional service should come first, especially in a busy restaurant environment.

The menu is hard to read and the printed/laminated menus are poorly printed making them difficult to read. They seem to be promoting rolled tacos (aka taquitos) but this says "Blue Burro Burritos." I went with a burrito. It just contained carne asada, guac and pico. No rice. No beans. No cheese. All are extra. It's served with chips and a drink if you get the combo. They do give tiny portions of salsa on the side. The burrito itself looked like it had been on Ozempic for a few months. It tasted fine but just didn't seem plump. The chips were crispy, salty (in a good way) and tasted fresh but there wasn't anything to really dip them in. The salsa they served are in tiny cups so you can't get the chip in it. Honestly, they felt more like hot sauces. The habanero was okay, not really that spicy. The green one was too vinegary for my taste. The place was clean and they had loud music playing in the background. It was empty when I got there and considering all the ingredients in my burrito seemed precooked (like Chipotle), it took a while for the food to come. I went to the beverage bar and the different flavors of the non-soda beverage options had unnatural colors. The horchata looked like got into a fight with a Smurf and lost. The strawberry aquafresca was an unnatural milky opaque red. The cucumber seemed just a bit too neon green. The first two were not to my liking. The cucumber was refreshing but tasted like it contained a LOT of sugar. It was also annoying they didn't have any signs what was what. Back to the service. I had some chips left but went to get a refill on my beverage and the worker there took my food away assuming I was done. I caught her just before she left the dining area and asked her to return the food. She apologized. I think they can/should wait until someone leaves the establishment or at least ask. The combo was about $17. Bottom line: will I return? I would not come here on my own. I think the food is pricey for what it is. However, if I was with others who wanted to come here, I wouldn't say no. There are just better Mexican food restaurants in the area.

I was not expecting such a great experience here. We came on a Monday afternoon for happy hour…read more(they also have daily specials, but I think that we preferred the happy hour specials). They told us we could sit anywhere. It has a modern feel, plus lots of TVs, so maybe also a sports bar-vibe? They had the Olympics on, so I'm not complaining. They provide complimentary chips and salsa. I actually really liked the seasoning on the chips. Salsa was pretty good as well. We ordered a few tacos off the happy hour menu: fish taco, fried shrimp taco, chicken mole, and asada. Did not expect them to be as big as they were! Between two of us, we were stuffed from 4 tacos and could barely finish them. I really liked the chicken mole. I thought that the addition of the slivered almonds, pepitas and radishes was a delicious touch that really enhanced the texture with a bit of crunch. However, I got the scooner of Max's marg and thought that it was sorta of weak. Couldn't taste much tequila. The other downside was that there was a really loud party at the other end of the restaurant and one of them had a really sharp voice. I get that they probably were also enjoying the happy hour, but it really echos throughout the restaurant... and I don't think the servers can do much to quiet down a rowdy table a paying patrons...

Came here around lunch…read more The good: the chips they give you beforehand are excellent. Warm and seasoned + the salsa... top notch. The waiter/ waitress were friendly. The ok: the rest of the food. I got the breakfast burrito, which I should have checked previous reviews because it doesn't seem like they get praised very often. My wife's scramble was just ok, but she said definitely greasier than she anticipated. The bad: the time it took us to get our food. My wife said she noticed people around us ordering after us and we received our food about 10-15 min after those same people. I'm wondering if an item was missing or they missed our order initially since it took an abnormally long time for us to receive our food. We also had a 2 year old who was not on his best behavior, so mix the much longer wait with that, and as you can imagine it wasn't the best experience. The host also wasn't very friendly and it felt like we were burdening her just by being there. Kind of a bummer, as this was our first time trying this place.
