Great Experience! I had a unexpected amount of guest for my child's graduation and needed a restaurant to accommodate the family on short notice. I called a bunch of different places that could not accommodate us. Luckily I called El Torito in Pasadena! Gabby ( I think she is a manager) went above and beyond in arranging the lunch for us. She set us up in the patio, sent us a menu of the different items, and even called us the day of to put us at ease that everything was ready. The food was great (as always) and the staff really made us feel at home. at the restaurant, Samantha and Russell were terrific as well. My boyfriend and I came here because we had time to kill before going to a play across the street. I know this place isn't an authentic Mexican restaurant, so my standards weren't high, but I still left dissatisfied. We went into the bar area and sat at a table, we waited there for a good while before anyone even acknowledged our existence. I don't expect the waitress/waiter to take our order at that moment, but a "someone will be there in a bit" or "let me get you some menus" would have been nice. When a waiter finally came up to us we told him we wanted to order some drinks from the happy hour menu, it was 6:45 pm, and told us he'd have to see if we could order that since happy hour ends at 7 pm. Honestly, I found this a bit weird. I don't know if it's because we looked young or what, but I noticed we were treated differently than the other customers. While others were greeted at the door and checked up on a couple of times, no one had come by our table to ask how we were doing, but the wait staff did continuously squeeze through my chair and the chair next to me with giant platters even though the surrounding area was empty. I felt like they would drop a hot dish on me at any moment. The atmosphere was just so weird and awkward. I came in wanting to order a few drinks, appetizers, and dessert, but we left because we felt uncomfortable and the drinks were so bad. I had the michelada but I might as well had ordered a beer alone because it was a light pink like they hadn't placed enough Clamato or Chile powder in it and it tasted like Pacifico with ice. I think taco Tuesday is a great deal. They have added a lot of extras, more protein but add ons. I kind of like the option of a smaller taco, but that doesn't apply. When they were a dollar they didn't have all that cool stuff. But, if a senior be forewarned, it's crowded and people do kind of fight for the tables and chairs. My hub was getting a taco and I had to fight to keep a seat, for some reason someone thought I was just a crazy old woman on my phone when I said I wasn't alone, so I pulled my better half's tall ice tea from the back of the table saying, he will be right back, geez. The thought I was being racist or mean??? Really hurt me but I guess I get why. Who would not let someone take the extra chsir? Apparently someone that looks like me? Yikes. read more

We always sit in the bar area....Ask for Serena Soto, mixed thee best table-side guacamole! seasoned just right. she's Attentive! always a plus at any restaurant. drinks filled, margaritas chilled, and served promptly! As for the menu, it is freshly made american style mexican . want authentic Mexican, you'll probably be going to the family owned spot but as most know will be sacrificing proper drinks. El Torito's margarita's especially the house margaritas are very disappointing. For the price that you pay which is $7.99 isn't worth it. I've gone to other restaurants and their margaritas had a better kick. Next time I'm sticking to either a soda or ice tea. Oh my god! My mom took forever at Ross and we were starving!!! El Torito was right there so it was a no brainer... me hungry... El Torito food... done! We got there 15 minutes before closing (9:45p), unintentional of course and our server, Ashley (603), was sssooooooo gracious. If roles were reversed I would have handed us a "To-go" menu. El Torito was one of my favorite places until last night. I attended a Paint Nite event and specifically choose El Torito as my location because they have amazing food and drinks but last night was different. During the event, I ordered a guacamole as an appetizer and received something completely different. I got the smallest cup not even a bowl of guacamole which was filled with lettuce and cabbage. The guacamole is usually served in a molcajete and doesn't have lettuce or cabbage in it. Now I was not expecting my guacamole to be served in a regular molcajete as this was a paint nite event but I was expecting to be served the same quantity and quality which is not what I received. Moreover, our server was rude. I understand that they only assigned one server for the whole event but it doesn't give her the right to be rude to her customers. 2 stars because the Margarita drink was actually good. read more

Just finished an excellent lunch at El Torito! Wandered in after doing some shopping and am so glad I did. The atmosphere was great, lots of character and charm. Cozy! Our server was Rebecca. She greeted us promptly and was very attentive throughout service. She made some excellent suggestions that made our tummies happy! The food was delicious and came in a timely manner. We had the bacon wrapped shrimp to start. They were extremely tasty! Then came the fajitas, one shrimp and one mixed. Both were excellent. Servings were generous. We skipped desert but will be back to try. All in all it was a great experience! Definitely recommend this place. Yum! read more

So on this past Tuesday my cousin and I decide to drop I. For taco Tuesday. After seating ourselves in the bar area we were eventually greeted my a waitress named crystal. Crystal was very slow with her service but we gave her the benefit of the doubt (even tho this day was not crowded). We ask for water she walks up and spills the water all over the table right into my cousin phone and lap mean while she has a smirk on her face. Moving forward service continued to be slow. Once we were done eating we asked for a bag. Crystal told us that they had ran out of bags and had to go and get some From the other side. I counted crystal walk past our table 11 times back and forth mad 45 minutes elapsing before I requested to speak with the manager. So out some this guy by the name of Ralphie He greets us very politely with a smile and once I said we were unhappy with the service and offered for him to sit with us he did and listen to everything I said. He wasn't one of those defend everything my employee has done type mangers. He was so willing to help in any way to assure we were take care of. This is how a business should be ran with managers like him. Speaking to some other patrons that we knew there they too agreed that he was very very kind. So hats off to Ralphie!!! Lousy service and we never got our food. On 02/16/18 We went as a group of 5 for a work lunch. We were seated at 12:05pm. The waitres Maria took our simple orders. Then we noticed groups of 2 around us were getting their food, but not us. We got up at 12:40pm and spoke to a manager as to WTH is going on with our orders. The manager replied they were having problems in the kitchen and our orders were not ready and sorry about that lol. We told him a few word's of how the place was not busy at all, that the waitress never came by to give us updates on our orders etc and that this was not ok and we were leaving upset and very disappointed.
