Horrible Birthday Dinner Experience Unfortunately, this was one of the worst restaurant experiences my family and I have had. We came to this El Torito in Corona as a party of 7 to celebrate my birthday. My parents drove from Temecula, my sister and nephew came from Palm Springs, and my wife, son, and I drove from Los Angeles. Everyone made the trip so we could have a nice birthday dinner together. The experience was disappointing from the moment we arrived. Nobody greeted us, and we actually had to look for someone to seat us. We were eventually seated near the bar. I politely asked our waitress, who was wearing a Rams jersey, if we could join another table to ours so our party could sit comfortably. She looked at me with what came across as a disgusted and bothered expression. Her reaction was so noticeable that I actually asked her if moving the table was okay or if there was a problem. She said, "Oh yeah, it's fine," and walked away still appearing bothered. It then took about 10 minutes for her to come back and take our order. I ordered a blended Signature Margarita with salt on the rim. What I received tasted watered down and had no salt on the rim. After taking our food order, our waitress literally disappeared. For approximately 20-25 minutes, we had essentially no service. We needed basic things like silverware and napkins and couldn't get anyone to help us. Then came the food. My wife and I ordered the Molcajete to share. It was cold, dry, and seemed to have far more vegetables than meat. My parents ordered the 1800 Fajita Supreme, which wasn't even steaming when it arrived and was barely warm. My sister ordered the ST Trio Carnitas, and it was so oily that she was disgusted and unable to eat it. My nephew, who works in the restaurant industry himself, finally got up and spoke with the manager because nobody was servicing our table. That's when we were told something I honestly couldn't believe: the manager told my nephew that our waitress had WALKED OUT and they couldn't find her. The bartender was then asked to take over our table. While the service was still slow, I will give him credit for at least being present and assisting us when we needed something. We have eaten at this El Torito before and had a completely different experience. The service was good and we had no complaints about the food, so this visit was especially disappointing. The one positive thing I can say was that they brought me a flan with strawberry and a candle for my birthday, which I appreciated. Unfortunately, that couldn't make up for everything else. I left my own birthday dinner still hungry after my family had traveled from Temecula, Palm Springs, and Los Angeles to celebrate together. From the lack of greeting, our waitress's attitude and disappearance, the long period without service, and the cold and poor-quality food, this was an extremely disappointing birthday dinner. I will also be contacting El Torito corporate directly regarding our experience. By far the worst service and food quality I've personally experienced at an El Torito. read more

I've been here for brunch a few times and I can say I've always had a wonderful time. The food and drinks are great but the real star of the show is the staff. We're regular El Torito brunch guests, so this visit was disappointing. There was a 25-minute wait despite several open tables when we arrived. The omelet station was unattended for a period of time, and the waffle syrups were nearly empty. Overall, the food quality did not match what we've experienced at other locations. Our server was really friendly but not very attentive, and we had to flag her down when we needed assistance. It also appeared the staff member bussing and maintaining multiple areas was overwhelmed. At $39.50 per person, we expected a more organized and attentive experience. We're hoping this was just an off day. read more

First of all, this review is way way overdue. The Ontario location was long our go to spot, but after moving to the area, we were pleasantly surprised to find one nearby in Corona. What makes this place special is that there are shorter wait times and less crowds, and the Sunday buffet is kept stocked and freshly refilled. For us, the added bonus is the friendly and amazing service from our favorite bartender, Sofia! She is great! We honestly look forward to seeing her just as much as enjoying the food and drink. The food was actually good once it finally came out, but getting it to the table took way longer than it should have. It honestly looks like they're understaffed. Everyone seemed like they were trying, but this is the second time we've come and it felt the exact same both visits. The place was only about a quarter full, so that made it even more surprising. Overall, the food was good, but the experience didn't really match the expectation. It felt pretty mid for what it's supposed to be. If you're just stopping in for drinks during happy hour it might be fine. But if you're actually hungry and planning to sit down for a meal, you might want to reconsider. Came in for Taco Tuesday which starts at 4pm. We sat in the bar section and it promptly got busy. There was one bartender who also went around taking orders, one person taking care of the taco section including making the corn tortillas, and a server that was taking care of the whole restaurant. It looked stressful but they did an amazing job and then I saw more staff come in around 5pm. I had the carnitas and al pastor tacos and they also had beans and their famous corn cakes.
