I am glad this restaurant chain came to Stroud! They have the best guacamole! I come for the chips, Salsa, Queso Blanco, and guacamole. The main entre is just a side order...LOL! I have not had anything that wasnt great and more authentically Mexican as opposed to tex mex. Service is pretty standard. Whether you are headed east or west on the Turner turnpike, here is the Mexican food break you need to take. It is located on the north side of the pike, approximately mid-way at the Stroud exit, in what used to be the Ranch House Restaurant, part of the Cattle Country Lodge. It is easy to access from the turnpike. The interior is large and pleasantly decorated to match the theme "ranch house" and "cattle country." El Tapatio adds a Mexican spin to the furnishings with the typical carved back chairs. Each chair back painted with bright colorful Mexican scenes and the restaurant's name, so you will remember where you were in that drunken birthday picture posted on Facebook. And there are a few sombreros hanging on the wall here and there. Overall, a very nice large clean restaurant. El Tapatio is in no way like the small town dumpy Mexican restaurants, that I frequent. The food is excellent, as is the friendly attentive service. Big Menu! Great chips and salsas start the meal. For me the Fajita Jalisco: beef steak strips, chicken and shrimp cooked with onions bell peppers and tomatoes served with Pico de Gallo, guacamole beans and rice. Delicious and fresh with a perfect side of creamy smooth refried beans. My wife had the Burrito Ranchero. A large pork filled flour tortilla, covered in red, green, and queso sauces. Rice and beans on the side. The pork in the burrito was wonderful tender shredded pork. Some of the pieces of pork had a delicious crisp finish; think carnitas. Both meals flavorfully seasoned. Nothing bland. Both of these meals are highly recommended. This was a big surprise for me to find such a quality Mexican restaurant in small town Oklahoma. Great service, upstairs and downstairs dining so good for groups. Immediately seated Saturday evening at 6 p.m with a group of 13. Set up is chips and salsa. We got a chorizo queso and white queso appetizer, both were great and good price. Very happy all around, probably my new favorite Mexican restaurant in the surrounding area. read more

Restaurant is in with a hotel. The atmosphere is very nice and comfortable. We sat upstairs, service was slow being upstairs but not horrible. My family and I decided to give this place a try it was busy so I ordered our food to go. We were all disappointed we ordered a burrito plate opened the box 1 simple burrito no sauce on it no beans or rice and got charged 8.00 1 got cheese enchiladas all in his box 3 plain the last box was a cheeseburger and fries soaked in grease I see pictures of different people plates that look good but when we opened our box and hardly anything in them that makes you disappointed.it cost around 30.00 I don't know if I will give it another chance or not. read more

I had heard either great things or bad things about this restaurant. We tried it last night and I vote NO. Overall.....bad service, cold and tasteless food. The service was mediocre at best. No one even came by our table for 5 minutes. When they brought the menus the plastic covering was greasy. I believe there were 8 pages of offerings. (4 front and back). We ordered off the make your own combination ($9.99 for two choices...I chose a taco and pork tamale........the 3 combo was $12.99+drink cost+dessert cost). Chips were greasy and had little taste but grease (salt improved some) and salsa was VERY heavy on the cilantro. I admittedly am one of those people who taste soap if overloaded with cilantro so there's that. The waiter seemed to not really want to be there and 'schooled' us on every pronunciation. When the food arrived it was a few items at a time that made no sense. For example, one at our table ordered the seafood fajitas and the waiter brought the meat dish with nothing else. Five minutes later the tortillas showed up in foil and no plate. Then 3-5 minutes later the rest of the food. You can't eat fajitas without tortillas and it's really hard to assemble them on a napkin. By that time they were kinda warm. No sizzling fajitas at this place. My tamale, while tasty was cold (I mean like out of the microwave and not zapped long enough cold). In fact even the beans and rice were warm at best. One of my friends ordered chicken and got beef. (At this point we were at least 20 minutes in) so No sending back. No one ever topped off out teas (when asked got 'that' look, lol) and to get dessert orders took almost roping a waiter and 5 minutes then another 10 minutes to get a soggy Churro with melted ice cream. For one a Very greasy and flat Sopapilia. This was 6:15 on a Thursday evening btw. There were several families that were getting excellent service next to us SO? The ambiance was very 1980's Early American (looks like it may have been designed as a steak house?) with large splashes of Mexican handcrafted chairs and tables. The vaulted ceiling make for an echo chamber. WE WILL NOT BE BACK. We will drive 13 miles to Prague for Juana's. read more
