Scorching, steam sauna of a day. Headed south on Hwy 377 from Stroud, I was sharing the portion of the smooth 4 lane with an air conditioner repairman, also headed south. The white van, likely going to rescue someone. A bit of anxiety struck me. Please don't be going to the Mexican restaurant in Prague. When we stepped into the restaurant, the anxiety turned to reality. It was warm inside. The air conditioner repairman's white van didn't stop at Juana's. I regret my wish. Every fan the restaurant had was running to help the weak AC keep the temperature in the restaurant bearable. It was warm. We are off to a great start though. A true sign that Juana's is an authentic Mexican restaurant! The menu is not that big, but the combinations seemed endless. After a longer than usual struggle making a decision, I finally went for the "Your Choice Platter." I picked a relleno and a taco. The waitress informed me that I still have one other item to select. Tostado! She reminded me that it comes with rice, beans, guacamole and sour cream. This Platter turned out not to be a platter; it was a table full of platters. Dinner for a family of three. Each platter loaded to capacity. The rellenos were actually two fresh poblanos. One filled with cheese and another stuffed with ground beef that was spilling out onto the plate. This platter alone was a meal. Another platter held a large beef taco. And the third platter, a giant tostado covered with beans, beef, lettuce, tomato and cheese. All very fresh tasting. The tostado was my favorite. The guacamole was freshly made. Excellent. Very good fresh salsas. Just like clockwork, a van with three Mexican construction workers pulls in the restaurant parking lot. They pile out, and come in for their 3 pm lunch break of micheladas and enchiladas. A confirmation that authentic Mexican food is served here, at a bargain price. The food at Juana's is what I call authentic traditional Mexican. This is not OkieMex. It is fresh, very lightly spiced food. We used up all of the salsa, and several liberal applications of salt. The lady that waited on us was very friendly. I didn't ask, I assumed that she was Juana herself. She said that she knew every face in town, which prompted her question "Where are you all from?" Good food, even though I like more spice! My only negative critique is the queso dip that comes with the chips. Not good. Unusual seasoning for queso and a little watery. The guac is damn good!

May not look like much from the road.... but let me tell ya, I've eaten Mexican food at a LOT of places, but this is probably the best I've ever had. No lie. Reasonably priced, clean, excellent food, excellent service, and really nice people. I highly recommend this place. I've only been a few times, but I'll sure continue going!!!

This was an amazing burrito! Best Mexican food I've had ever!

Had a mango martini and a combo. Not bad for small town OK. Nice staff and the food hit the spot.

The wait staff is always friendly and fast, especially at 4:30! Oh I also ordered a small margarita which was delicious. Unlike when I was young, I didn't lick the salt rim. Ha!

I ordered my benchmark: cheese enchiladas with chili gravy, and an ala carte cheese chile relleno with sour cream sauce. Wife got cheese enchiladas with queso. Son got a steak, DiL the carnitas. Grandkids got kid plates. Meal started with baskets of chips, salsa, and gratis queso. Big drink glasses are a big plus. Service was friendly, efficient, patient. My cheese enchiladas were good but would benefit from use of a better melting cheese inside, as the cheese was stringy. Some chopped onions inside would help too but the gravy had the right chili profile and it was a satisfying plate. The refried beans were delicious but would benefit with more mashing, especially for kids. The rice was very good. The chili relleno was very tasty. Every place has different versions of this dish and enjoyed this one. Son enjoyed his steak. Kids polished theirs off. But the best dish on the table was DiL's carnitas. Some of the best I've had, well seasoned and the meat tender and moist. Too often carnitas are cooked on high heat for a dry tough result. These were cooked low and slow like good pork barbecue. They should sell these by the pound. They have a fireman's enchiladas which are topped with fajitas. I would get these next time but topped with the carnitas. They have some awesome looking desserts. They have this fried apple pie looking thing with ice cream that looked great but I was stuffed. Next time.

I ordered Camerónes a la Diabla and the sauce had a darker color than expected, with an excellent spice level and an additional smokiness. I assume it was made in-house, but now it has me questioning every other time I've ordered this dish back home; have I ever tasted a house-made salsa in other restaurants before, or is this the first time?? My partner ordered chicken mole enchiladas and just like the diabla salsa, the mole was complex and balanced-- a good sign that extra time and effort went into them! There were other areas where Mexican restaurants sometimes cut corners, such as not using fresh lime in a margarita, but this place put in the effort to do it right! I hope this place continues to expand, because the unique branded and carved furniture must have cost a fortune, but it was a lovely way to distinguish this restaurant without looking kitschy and filling a building with junk. There seems to be a LOT of space as well-- probably a great place to have a party! I'm so glad this place is here in Cushing, and I'll definitely come back when I can.
