Yellow cheese sauce. Tastes like water. Taco Bell-like beef, but without flavor. I ordered a taco salad and it had a watery, greasy liquid in the bottom of the taco bowl and hardly any lettuce compared to the amount of meat. Staff is very friendly and courteous, but that can't save it from their horrible food. They have a huge following in Shawnee because they've been around for a long time, but I've been there 3 times hoping for it to be better, and was disappointed each time. Waitress acted like she didn't want to be there. Don't order the big bowls of cheese. We ate 5 of them and on the 5th they decided to charge us for them before ever telling us they costed extra. Our family is new to the area and we were treated like family! Service was amazing, never without drinks. Our server welcomed us to the community by bringing us all sorts of dips and extras for us to try so we could sample everything. The hospitality was outstanding, if felt like we were old friends. The Abuelita's in Moore OK is one of our go to restaurants for Mexican food. I know we've been eating with them since before they moved to Moore so at least 15 years. We happened to be in Shawnee at the Casino for an event and thought we'd try it for dinner before we headed back to OKC. It was easy to find using Google maps. It was a Saturday evening after 8pm and they were pretty busy and more people came in to eat as we were eating. I noticed that there were some negative reviews on the Shawnee location, but we were very happy with the food and the service we got. We have also eaten at the original location in Sulpher Abuelita's before they built the new restaurant, and the service was much better in Shawnee. Food was as expected so we weren't disappointed. I got a beef taco when I thought I had ordered a chicken taco and they offered to exchange it, but since I couldn't remember which one I had actually ordered I told them not to worry. A few minutes later, out they came with a chicken taco with apologies on getting my order wrong. I truly couldn't remember which one I ordered so it was a nice gesture. I have no problem recommending this location. read more

Went out to lunch with Kinfolk and Three of us had the Faquitas. The meat, both chicken and beef was dry and overcooked, also rice was dry, nothing seemed to be fresh. read more

The place was a little shabby and the service was slow, but adequate. The food was good and had a little different flavor that most of the places in OKC. Really good special hot sauce. My husband had the fajita enchiladas and they were good. I got the Monterrey chicken and it was good but would have preferred rice over the potatoes. read more

Decent food, friendly service. I had an appetizer as my dinner and it was plenty big enough. Can't remember the name, but it was a yummy combination of fried potato slices, avocado slices, fried onions and jalapeños, and refried beans. Plenty of fresh corn tortillas, salsa--it was all I could want. Be aware, if you order a Tecate, you get a huge glass, more than 12 oz. and the rim is covered in crushed lime. Tasty, but the size did surprise me. They only have one desert, which I didn't try: sopapillas with strawberries. The bathroom was just a little sketchy--smelled of insecticide. read more

This is one of the premier Mexican style restaurants in Shawnee. If you ask locals where to partake in good Mexican food, most of them will recommend Abuelita's. The food tastes like it was prepared a day or two in advance but it's not that bad. I prefer fresh food but finding that in Shawnee means going and making it yourself. read more

Alright. I have been living in Southern California for going on 7 years now and I have yet to have Mexican food as good as this. The service is always great, the food is always amazingly good. My grandparents used to eat here every Sunday evening for dinner. Growing up in the Shawnee, Bethel, Tecumseh area, its almost required to come eat at this place. The special sauce is amazing. They are one of the few places that bring you queso sauce with the chips and regular salsa. read more
