I was surprised to find another very good Mexican restaurant in the small town of Bristow. Los…read moreArcos is located in a historic brick building on Route 66, the main drag through town. The inside stretches for what seems like a city block. A big dining area up front and an over flow area in the back. Parking is easy access, with a lot next to the restaurant. It is a clean, comfortable interior with Mexican décor everywhere. Plenty of large booths line up on both sides of the restaurant. They are covered above with an open pergola type structure. It creates a relaxing patio dining feeling. Great tasty salsas, especially the salsa picante. I had the # 1 Combo: taco, enchilada w/ ground beef and bean chalupa. I added a side of beans. My wife had the #2 Combo: taco, enchilada w/ ground beef and relleno. These are bargain meals at $7.99 each. All very good, well-seasoned beef beans and queso. My wife was especially pleased with the chili relleno, rating it very high. Bristow has two great Mexican restaurants.

He could never answer my question if my order had been started I told him it's been a while. I just need to know if my order had been started. He was rude had told the workers something in Spanish. I'm assuming about my order. Their customer service was awful. I got a vibe about my take out order and now I don't trust them with my food. Probably won't go back.

The wait staff is always friendly and fast, especially at 4:30! Oh I also ordered a small margarita which was delicious. Unlike when I was young, I didn't lick the salt rim. Ha!

I ordered my benchmark: cheese enchiladas with chili gravy, and an ala carte cheese chile relleno with sour cream sauce. Wife got cheese enchiladas with queso. Son got a steak, DiL the carnitas. Grandkids got kid plates. Meal started with baskets of chips, salsa, and gratis queso. Big drink glasses are a big plus. Service was friendly, efficient, patient. My cheese enchiladas were good but would benefit from use of a better melting cheese inside, as the cheese was stringy. Some chopped onions inside would help too but the gravy had the right chili profile and it was a satisfying plate. The refried beans were delicious but would benefit with more mashing, especially for kids. The rice was very good. The chili relleno was very tasty. Every place has different versions of this dish and enjoyed this one. Son enjoyed his steak. Kids polished theirs off. But the best dish on the table was DiL's carnitas. Some of the best I've had, well seasoned and the meat tender and moist. Too often carnitas are cooked on high heat for a dry tough result. These were cooked low and slow like good pork barbecue. They should sell these by the pound. They have a fireman's enchiladas which are topped with fajitas. I would get these next time but topped with the carnitas. They have some awesome looking desserts. They have this fried apple pie looking thing with ice cream that looked great but I was stuffed. Next time.

They advertise as authentic Mexican and they are, with what I would call a little TexMex added in here and there. It was and excellent find for us. Two of the best plates of Mexican food that we have had, in small town Oklahoma restaurants. Nothing bland from the salsa to the beans, excellent spicy flavors. My wife had the Fried Tamales. Two fried until golden brown, topped with tomatillo salsa verde and queso blanco, garnished with diced tomatoes and cilantro. Served with rice and beans. For me the Papa Poblano. It was a different presentation of my favorite Mexican food items. An amazing combination of a deep-fried cheese filled Chile Relleno rolled up in a slab of fajita beef, topped with sauteed shrimp in a creamy mushroom chipotle sauce, garnished with diced tomatoes and cilantro. It is difficult to explain how delicious this combination was. The creamy cheesy spicy chipotle sauce made the meal. On the side, the perfect charro beans, topped with fresh chopped jalapeno, tomato and onion. These 5-star meals you have to try. They favor TexMex in presentation and spiciness. A great Mexican restaurant, attractive décor, comfortable chairs and booths, with small town friendly service. Beer and Tequila is available. Their menu can be found online.
