    Cabbage Rolls with Baked Potato
    Spike S.

Reviewed May 30, 2019 No health score available The iconic Joseph's in the heart of oil country! The last time I ate here was 35 years ago. The name hasn't changed even though the owners have. The inside of the restaurant and the menu is still pretty close to how they were back then. They have always been known for their steaks, smoked meats and Lebanese style sides and appetizers. I will be back to try the steaks, but for this visit I wanted the cabbage rolls and the tabouly (tabbouleh). The cabbage roll special comes with two cabbage rolls, a choice of salad (slaw or tabouly), a choice of potatoes and a dinner roll. The cabbage rolls were filled with pleasantly seasoned lean ground beef and rice. The tabouly was made from Joseph's original recipe. It was a tasty combination of bulgur wheat, parsley, tomatoes with oil and lemon. Very good! Most folks having lunch there were having one of the steaks, so they are still a big draw. On my first trip to Drumright, I ended up coming here with a group of friends. We had quite a large group and as expected had to wait to be seated. Given the size of our group, I felt that we were seated in an adequate amount of time. The lights on the inside were dimmed to help set the ambience. All of the food was really good. There was something there called tabouly, which I had never heard of, but it was a hit with everyone in the group who ordered it. Also, The Bigfoot is appropriately named as it is a really good sized burger. Everyone enjoyed what they ordered and left feeling pretty full on the trip back. There is just something about those single name steakhouses and Joseph's did not disappoint!

Pretty good. The taubuli was great. Fresh roll and hand breaded chicken fry. Green beans were seasoned perfect. Mashed potatoes were real. I like that they serve cracker and butter with your meal.

Hummus and Tabouli, also served with a cabbage roll, BBQ bologna and spareribs.

Great shrimp and tabouli. Best service. My husband's sirloin steak was one of the best he's ate in a long time.

This is one of our family favorites. It's in the middle of nowhere. Drumright, Ok. Specialty signature steaks. Always on point.

We chose Triggers BBQ, reviews were generally positive and it was a short stroll from The Frontier Hotel. The young lady working the counter was very friendly and our order was placed quickly. The fountain machine was not working which isn't a big deal. We each decided to try RC Cola. The only rub I have at this part of our experience is don't blame someone for the fountain machine not working. It's just a poor reflection. Just state it's not working. I ordered the brisket, coleslaw, and cheesy potatoes. My lovely wife ordered "the last of today's pork", brisket and cheesy potatoes. The food came out quickly. It was immediately noticeable that the brisket had sat in a warmer for way to long and was past its prime. A slathering of BBQ sauce on the brisket was not much improvement and was really uninspiring its self. A prior review noted the brisket tasted more like liquid smoke and I would agree. "The last of today's pork", was not as painful as the brisket yet not by much. Moving on to the cole slaw which I believe was a red wine vinaigrette. It was not to my liking however it might be to yours. I'll call this a push. Finally the cheesy potatoes. This side was good, moist and tasted as expected. It's unfortunate that this was the best item as I would fully expect the BBQ to be the star. The place is rustic, clean and small. With the draw in Pawhuska being The Pioneer Woman fame and you are a short block walk away. What you serve should be on point. This BBQ experience wasn't.

Brisket Pulled Pork Smoked Turkey Pork Ribs Hot Links and finally... Smoked Baloney. Potato Salad, White Mac and Cheese, Texas Toast, Pickle and Onion. Everything was smoked perfectly - even the baloney, which surprised both of us eating there - and absolutely tender. The meats aren't dripping in sauce which is often used to moisten a bad cook or to disguise poor flavors. Nope. If you want a saucy meal, it's a "self-inflicted wound" in my books, because you're missing out on some great well cooked meat. We didn't go there for side options, so reviewing them isn't the point. I did not see either a Corn Bread or a Biscuit choice which I would have chosen, but took the usual's just to see how they're done at Rustlers. I'm not a banana for dessert fan, that is, until my dinner guest forced me to have some of Rustlers Banana Pudding. I am now a rabid fan of banana's for dessert. Yes, it's that good. Don't keep whistling down the highway at 80+MPH trying to get somewhere faster than you should. Slow down, stop in, and get some well made BBQ. Sure, you're going to have the "meat sweats" once you've had your fill, but it's all well worth it in the end.
