    Torta de asada

Food is always good. I come here all the time with my boyfriend. It's our to go Mexican spot. Today I tried the Torta de asada for the first time and it was delicious!! It did not disappoint, the bread was not soggy and the asada was so flavorful.

I've been coming to this location for 24 years. I had and came to visit after 6 years. Flavor was exactly how I remember it. Delicious! Fresh! This place has never let me down. Hands down best place in the valley. Owners are always polite and it's always clean.

This is by far my favorite taco place that I have been to. The street tacos are about as authentic as they come and really really cheap! This is the place you want to go when you are craving home cooked Mexican food. I can not stress enough about these soft tacos. The carne asada that they use is so juicy and flavorful and cooked on a grill top and made crispy. The salsa is fresh, spicy and delicious. Do not be put off by the look of the place, its a hole in the wall but thats what makes it so unique! If you are in the valley and craving tacos you must try this place!

Best Mexican on the block maybe even all of Van Nuys. I get the gorditas asada! So dank! Great customer service! Also a must the large horchata! Hits the spot everytime. Love this place. Ty

I ordered the burrito mojado de carne Asada. It has avocado outside, but when I asked them to put it inside, they said of course! I also added sour cream inside! Oooohhh my goodness!! The burrito is by far the best I have ever had. The sauce is so good. The gentleman was very careful with the packaging to make sure it didn't leak. I appreciate that. The parking is a little challenging, but so worth it.

Man, I can never get enough of this place. It's a hole in the wall but they serve up some freaking delicious mexican food. Al pastor is the way to go. I was totally craving mexican food yesterday and this place definitely hit the spot. We ordered 1 al pastor quesadilla and 5 al pastor tacos. They have a self serve bar where I totally went nuts on the super spicy salsa. I can eat spicy, but this stuff gives spicy a whole new meaning. My mouth was on fire but I just kept dipping my food in it. Tacos with some cilantro, onions, lime and tons of salsa was so yummy. I couldn't stop eating. The quesadilla was pretty big. Extremely cheesy, oily and just delicious. They give plenty of juicy, tender meat, some tomatoes, guacamole, lettuce and chips on the side.

This place has been around for about 29 years in the same location, so they must be doing something right. I have been coming here myself for over 20 years as I used to work right next door to this restaurant. Their food has not changed a bit, still great red salsa, meat is always fresh, beans are delicious and the rice good. I have eaten their Tortas, Burritos, Tacos, Gorditas, Beef Soup Etc. Etc. Etc. and everythinh I have ever had here has been great. Never have I had a bad meal for either Lunch or a Quick Dinner. There are many locations under the same name and quite honestly this is by far the best location, I have eaten in other locations and even though the bame is the same the quality of taste is different. Even in a simple taco or burrito, believe it or not. If you are ever around here pay a visit to them, if you are looking for a decent quick bit. I'm sure you won't be disappointed as I never have been.

My favorite view before I eat!!

THE INGREDIENTS THEMSELVES ARE GOOD. The red sauce is tasty and a perfect spicy! (On the hotter end), and their beans , rice and table chips on the side are good! AND THE ASADA, omg. their asada is fyeee. The horchata was decent as well. Do you see my dilemma? The things I'm coming back for: THE ASADA AND THE FISH BATTERED TACO CASA GRANDE STYLE. The fish battered WAS PERFECT. the slaw and tortilla that came with it were mid. BUT I AM COMING BACK TO EAT THAT PERFECT BATTERED FISH TACO NO TORTILLA hahaha. The chipotle sauce one was ok. I recently tried out El Cocinero's food at an event that they catered to. As a person who eats meat and is not restricted, I would come here for the good food. The vegan al pastor had chunks of pineapple and it is seasoned and cooked to taste just like the meat version. The texture is just a little bit different but it does resemble a lot like meat. The vegan pastor also tastes just like the meat version, just less "smoky" and the texture is softer. The rice is flavorful and fluffy. The beans are seasoned just enough to have flavor but not compete with the other dishes. The creamy chipotle sauce was perfect topping the rice and beans. I do like vegan food but the only reference I had with Mexican vegan are places that try to add fake cheese and lean heavily on beans and rice. This business shows that you can still have all the flavors and not rely on cheese and meat. They focus on the flavors and not what would make non-vegans feel comfortable. Initially, I was going to give this first time experience a 4 star review so that it encourages me to go check out the restaurant so I can add the service and the ambiance. However, I was lucky enough to bring home leftovers and as I was eating it, the food tastes better. Had to add the extra star!

This place had everything you'd need and tastes so good for a vegan spot. You would be able to fool me and tell me this is actual meat and I'd believe it. That's how good it was! I got the quesadilla (half asada, half al pastor) omg that was the best thing I have ever had. The cheese melts and pulls just like regular Cheese. The meat was so juicy and good flavor. I'd get it again and again But I'd probably try the tacos next time along with the quesadilla tbh. I also got the flan which was tbh less sweeter than a regular flan. But hey I still loved it, I don't complain about it. It was still delicious. (Funny incident, I ordered the flan at the front and paid for it.i wasn't told anything else by the guy at the register. SoThen went back to the table and Waited and waited and waited for a good 20 minutes, till I asked about it and was told that I can just grab it out of the refrigerator!!!! When I come here, I usually order the cheese enchiladas. They're the best I've ever had. Perfect flavor, cheesiness, and consistency (thickness/density). This time around, I decided to try out something different, the Carne Asada plate. It was fantastic. Usually, restaurants use cheaper cuts of meat like skirt or flank steak for their carne asada. Maybe I'm losing my mind, but the carne asada I had looked and tasted a lot like ribeye steak, which happens to be my favorite cut of beef. For my drink, I had the horchata like I normally do. The horchata here is something special. It's thicker and creamier than your average horchata and packs a cinnamon punch. The only knock on this place is the parking situation. There's limited parking relative to the size of the establishment. You may have to find street parking around the park nearby. But don't let something like that discourage you from checking this place out. This place is worth it. I drive up to the Valley from the South Bay just to visit this restaurant.
