Tried this place for the first time last night.. I mean National Taco Day on Taco Tuesday? come on... that's a requirement for Tacos! This place had good reviews but I was a bit skeptical to see if they would hold.... the family meal was amazing! the meat was super flavorful. I was very impressed. the beans have something extra that makes them very unique -yummy,- but def has an extra ingredient. the cheese quesadillas were nothing special and the vampiro was ok. the meat was super good.. the fried shell was okay. the tortilla shells that came with the meal were yummy though a bit oily. however you could tell they were made in house. the family meal took an hour to be ready.... so be prepared. it was also hard to get someone on the phone as they seemed to have issues with their line. Used to come here all the time for taco Tuesday, we've never had any issues up until this point. I ordered a carne asada quesadilla, and it was really good up until I ended up with what looks and feels like wire metal in my mouth. At first I thought it was just maybe gristle, but when I pulled it out I was disgusted to find out it was metal. I just ate here and it was amazing. I ordered 3 tacos and a Fresca. The chicharron was delicious and the asada and pastor were also very very good. The salsa bar was nice and included all your taco needs like limes, cilantro and onion. I initially found El Super Taco purely based on distance from our Airbnb. Reading the reviews it seemed like a no brainer for good Mexican. The only question in my mind was if the overall value would meet the hype. Cliff notes review, it did! We ordered a variety of options to share and try. I really liked the condiment bar once we walked it. No worries, it was safely altered (with pre-wrapped bags for pick-up) to support COVID times. We ended up with more food than we could finish for about a third of what we spent the night before on a not so fancy alternative. Loved the gauc was included at the condiment bar. I had the asada quesadilla. It was a great portion, heavy on the protein, and with enough of sour cream to enjoy. The tacos are 'street taco' sized, meaning two to three is probably the recommended serving. Again, the condiment bar ensured you could portion your onion and cilantro. The burrito was the size of a small baby and wrapped tight to keep in all the tastes. Finally, the protein bowl is perfect for those carb haters. Service is great and very patient as I mispronounced everything on the menu. I'm only in town a few more days, but I will probably grab at least another lunch here! read more

We ordered the carne asada combo plate after hearing so many rave reviews on the carne asada. It comes with three tacos, rice, and beans for $15. Everything tastes homemade. I'm guessing the next time we come, it will taste a little bit different as it's all made fresh daily. The corn tortillas are amazing and soft. The carne was delicious and they didn't skimp on the meat. The beans had a ton of flavor as did the rice. The restaurant is small and nothing fancy. The reason for the 4 stars instead of one was because all of the tables were dirty (previous customer's rice) and the salsa bar was messy. They may have been short staffed or we could have arrived after a rush. There are only non-alcoholic beverages and a variety of aguas frescas. The salsa bar had a great variety of salsas and toppings. We loved the green salsa! We will return for certain. read more

TL:DR - Easily my favorite taco spot in Phx thus far. We tried the pastor (pork), camaron (shrimp), cabeza (head), tripas (tripe), and quesabirria. Favorites were the shrimp, pastor, and tripe taco. Fresh shrimp with some shredded greens and a smoky cajun cream sauce. Pastor and tripe were perfectly crispy and chewy at the same time. The quesabirria taco was my least favorite having a super dry shell which detracted from the overall taco. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Super indeed! My partner brought some tacos back from this place and we were able to try a smattering of tacos including pastor, camaron (shrimp), cabeza, tripas, and the quesabirria combo (with consume). The tacos here are easily the best I've had in Phoenix in my short time here, my previous favorite (which was still just pretty good) was Taco Boys for reference. But this place has an amazing array of filling options, always love to see tongue and tripe on the board. You also get a choice between corn and flour tortillas for your tacos. I have always preferred flour while my wife prefers corn. Both were satisfactory to our individual pallets. I will say my favorite tacos were easily the shrimp, pastor, and tripe. Shrimp was delicious and fresh with a great smoky Cajun cream sauce on top. I prefer shrimp tacos where they're not fried, so points there. The pastor was amazingly flavorful and not super dry. It was cut into small chunks that gave you a lot of flavorful crispy bits while not being super dry or ground pork like other pastors. The tripe was also delicious being perfectly fried with a good crunch on the outside and still chewy on the interior. My least favorite was easily the quesabirria, which I got cause it seemed like that's what everyone else on yelp was raving about. I thought the exterior was too dry after being fried which sucked all the saliva out of my mouth when I was eating it. This is even after I dipped it in the consume, as the shell was so dry it didn't really soak anything up. There was not a ton of filling in the taco, which really made the dry shell stand out even more. We had to force this one down to finish the three that came in the combo, while we ate the other tacos happily. Lastly, the horchata was pretty good, more cinnamon-y than I'm used to, which left a sort of film on your tongue when you were drinking it. But still hit the spot if you just really want horchata. So all in all, I'm just going to stick to the standard street tacos when coming back. read more

Not their fault, they just had a big group come in. I ordered a veggie burrito and chips to go. I did at first ask for guacamole but then changed my mind. We were charged over $8 for a Bean and cheese burrito with very little beans but flour tortillas were good, and $5 for the Jamaica with sand in it. Wow, just wow! I stopped in based on solid 5-star Yelp reviews, and end up writing one myself. The quesabirria beef tacos with consomme are stellar! Although the cheese is melted and gooey inside instead of being crunchy and griddled on the outside, these tacos are still quite excellent. The beef is very tender and flavorful. The rich orange tinged dip is not too salty, not greasy, with floating onions and cilantro. With a little garnish of onion and a dip in the savory broth, these tacos don't need salsa. But there is a salsa bar with taco garnishes like cucumber slices, cabbage, 3 hot sauces and an avocado one. Plus Jamaica (hibiscus) tea. And the staff?
