Food is the best, I've eaten a lot of Mexican food and this place is by far the best!! Can't wait to eat here again.

As a California native, I feel personally victimized by the name "Cali Tacos." Nothing about this experience screamed California. In fact, I think the restaurant should seriously consider rebranding to "Texas Tacos" because these tacos were nowhere near California standards. Let's start with the tortillas. As you can clearly see, they looked like they had just come out of a refrigerator, not off a grill. Cold tortillas are a crime against tacos. The beans tasted canned, and somehow the rice seemed more refried than the refried beans. That's a level of culinary innovation I wasn't prepared for. Then there were the wings. Respectfully, if a taco shop can't get tacos right, why are we branching out into wings? The sauce tasted suspiciously like it came straight from Costco. Not that there's anything wrong with Costco, but I wasn't expecting a wholesale club collaboration. Now, I will give credit where it's due: the jamaica agua fresca was absolutely delicious. It was easily the star of the meal and the only thing that transported me anywhere close to Southern California. As the only Black person in the restaurant, I also felt a certain vibe from the staff, and not in a good way. Maybe it was because I was standing next to my Mexican husband. Maybe it wasn't. Either way, the service felt uncomfortable enough to notice. If you're looking for authentic California-style tacos, keep driving. If you're looking for aggressively average Arizona tacos, congratulations, they've absolutely nailed the assignment. One star for the tacos. Five stars for the agua fresca. Overall, the jamaica worked harder than the entire kitchen. read more

We saw Cali Taco on Instagram and had to try them out. There is ample seating in the dining room. You order at the counter and then seat yourself. The menu is quite extensive. We ordered 3 tacos and the nacho fries with carne asada. The nachos are more than enough for 4 people to share. The steak and toppings were fresh and good. We chose Birria taco with cheese, chicken and al pastor. The Al pastor was my favorite. My friend preferred the Birria. We both ordered horchata as well, this was good as well. Ordered through Uber Eats since they had a bogo taco plate special. I got chicken tacos my husband got the al pastor. The chicken was so dry and hard, only a few pieces were edible after dousing with lime and hot sauce. My husband said his al pastor meat was also dry. The rice and beans were the only decent part. Pretty good stuff. I had the Dorados Tacos combo. Three birria meat tacos with rice and beans. What dropped this to 4 stars is I had to pay extra to dip my tacos in birria sauce. Well for starters, walked in, wasn't greeted or anything. The frontal person was very rude and just gave a look as if we were making her day horrible by even walking in. That kind of threw the whole atmosphere off even walking in. I even complemented them and still had bad attitude. We ordered our food and was asked the name for the order, we wait for the food and don't even get our name called. The front person just gives us a look as if we are supposed to know that our food was ready. Food was overall dry and unseasoned. Pretty overpriced for quality and size. Very very sad. Was expecting way more but from all the one stars..can't say I'm even surprised. Def not coming back and wouldn't recommend you come either. The food is very good. It is a Friday night and orders are backed up and people are waiting. A lot of DoorDash orders going out, which is a good thing but one person, Ciria, is ringing customers, bagging food and taking calls on her cellphone. At one point, I overheard her say that there is a customer waiting 25 minutes for their order. I understand that a business in a new location is trying to cut corners to make sure things work out. It had lots of meet and the texture was great, but again, not very flavorful. I won't go back for lunch/dinner. I might give them a try for a breakfast burrito. The service at the counter was good.
