I can't believe I have yet to review this soup guzzilng hot spot south of the border.
I have been coming to this restaurant for years, years! I will travel the 37 minutes from my house to Tijuana just savor the delight that is birria de chivo from saucito. It's legit, like no other, it's like straight from Jalisco good. It's freakin bomb, i'm pretty sure they cater....just sayin,
The restaurant is located about 15 minutes south of crossing the border, if not closer, right off the high way. Can't miss it, There is a change house right around the corner if you forgot to buy pesos. Careful driving around this intersection as it can get busy and packed.
Moving on, Parking:
Is a breeze, they don't have a lot of parking spots dedicated to the restaurant, but fear not there is a really friendly and watchful lot attendant that has been tending the parking lot probably just as long as the restaurant has been EST. We have had no issues parking there and the lot attendant takes watch over your car. (Be ready to TIP the attendant).
Now...The spoils:
This has got to be one of my favorite restaurants hands down. They know my order, my parents order, Our favorite songs...i will bring my kids, children's grandkids (if i'm alive that long). So on the menu is Birria de chivo in "plato hondo" (deep bowl), large or small and regular "plato largo" plate. You then choose the portion of the goat you would like to try. I usually either pick thigh or mixed "surtido". You need to order the hand made tortillas, you have to, it's not complete with out the humungo hand made tortillas. like i said, I love this spot. Now...for the FAT CHERRY on top, the Quesadilla made with hand made tortilla with the most delicious Mexican mozzarella cheese your mouth has ever tasted, My goodness, your taste buds will never be the same, SPOILER: future quesadillas will BE RUINED, YOU WILL NEVER BE ABLE TO NOT COMPARE ANOTHER QUESADILLA TO THEIRS...although mine are pretty equivalent, but that is neither here nor there. If you have followed the suggested recommendations you now have a large bowl of birria and a fat juicy dripping quesadilla and something to drink. Grab your quesadilla open it, slather some meat up in that 'dilla and go to town, repeat till you are almost in Chivo coma, TAKE THE REST HOME IF THERE IS ANY LEFT.
OOOOOOOOO favorite part of my favorite Tijuana Birria scene: The bandas that serenade you....yeyuuuuuhhhhhssss, BE READY TO TIP THEM. They might have a per song charge, not sure. You can have them play as long as you'd like and as many songs, they know a lot, tigres de norte, las mananitas, bandas always make me cry, especially las mananitas.
This place will always be a treat for myself and my loved ones, I'm glad i am a border and 37 minutes away...I'd be up in there at least once a week. It's BOMBA! like reggeaton loud, eat this and your mouth will curdle with joy.
YOU WILL NOT BE DISSAPOINTED!!! read more
