Location might not be the most convenient but if you are around the neighborhood, it will be worth to stop by and have some meal there. I started to frequent this place since it is quite near from the company I used to work for a while ago, the main reason for going there was because it is quiet and good for having a nice conversation while eating. Here is my review of Las Parrillas.
Service: Waiters are polite and courteous, there is no hostess there since is not needed, as soon as you arrive you are free to choose any table you like. Orders are taken quickly and meals are prepared really fast, so you do not have to wait 15+ minutes for your meal to be served.
Food: This restaurant specializes in Mexican food, so it is a great place for exploring the Mexican cuisine, my wife and I have tried several dishes and they have not disappointed us, we know how Mexican food must be prepared and how Mexican food has to taste, and I am honest to assure that Cheff passed our tests. Portions are more than generous and food is always served hot (Mexican food is always served hot, getting warm or cold dishes is a big no - no). Enchiladas are top notch and my wife's favorite - caldo Tlalpeño - will not let you down. Since tortillas are made right in the spot, right in that moment, they taste great, there is no better sensation than eating some rolled tortillas right out from the comal. If you visit this place during cold weather I strongly recommend you to order some café de la olla, this is prepared with cinnamon and piloncillo, treat yourself with this special coffee variation!
Prices: Food prices are fair for what you get, nothing there seems to be overpriced or expensive.
Place: Place is quite big and empty tables are always available. The interior of the restaurant is pretty nice, resembling old Mexican houses, at the end of the place you will be able to see the kitchen and how all the dishes are prepared in a jiffy. As I mentioned above, the location of the restaurant is not that convenient, besides you will be charged for making use of the parking lot (less than a dollar fare), a couple years ago parking was free, but recently, the owners of the plaza (not the owners of the restaurant) decided to charge you for the use of the parking lot, this really was a very crappy idea.
Pros:
- Real Mexican cuisine.
- Wide variety of dishes to choose from.
- Food is served quick and hot.
- Taste is second to none.
- Courteous and attentive waiters.
- Nice and quiet environment, no need to yell for having a nice conversation.
Cons
- Location.
- Parking lot access (not that friendly, plus plaza owners will charge you for the use of their parking spots)
All in all this is a great place for exploring authentic Mexican dishes, you will not be disappointed! read more
