During past visits to Tijuana, our group noticed that none of the street taco stands sold carnitas. On one occasion, we made a concerted effort to look for a place that served roasted pork. It brought us to this establishment which was southeast of the border crossing along Paseo de los Heroes in Zona Rio. There was a dedicated parking lot behind the building so you didn't have to search for a nearby curbside spot if you had a vehicle. Carnitas Quiroga is a sit-down restaurant with servers taking your order from a menu. Only a couple of the waiters knew some limited English, but the service was fine. We just pointed to what we wanted to eat and drink from the menu. The offerings included omelettes, fajitas and other Mexican fare, but what we wanted was carnitas which they sold by the kilogram. The quantity was designed to be split between four adults in a party. For a serving of one kg (over two lbs), there was plenty of pork to go around, and we ended up sharing the platter between the six of us. The carnitas was a mix of well-seasoned white and dark meat along with a lot of chewy pork skin. Corn tortillas, frijoles (beans), salsa roja, salsa verde, aguacate (avocado), cilantro, curtidos (pickled cabbage), and limones were provided as accompaniments. We couldn't finish all the food as this spot was the last stop before heading back to the States. Leftovers were plentiful to take home and made for a tasty meal the next day.

First impression, staff was very friendly. It was a little warm out and they sat us right under a ceiling fan and we loved it! Carnitas, costillas, gorditas de chicharrón and bean's are absolutely delicious! Prices are great as well! Do not hesitate to come here! Order the carnitas for 4 and take the rest home! So worth it. :)

This place is awesome. Has an upscale feel they have water bottles at the table for you. The customer service is Mexico in most places is awesome. Super attentive great suggestions from waiters and also very polite. The food here is Amazon. The pork is so delicious. We bought a pound of pork and ate for 4 people it was really good. The ingredients are fresh and the food is made to order

Phenomenal place. One of the best breakfasts I have ever had. Food screamed the rich flavors of Mexico in every bite!

Nothing better than carnitas and guacamole, oh and a shot of Don Julio Blanco

When in TJ, venture out of the tourist area by taking a $5 taxi to this awesome little carnitas joint. If you like nice portions and fantastic food, this place won't disappoint. The staff does not all speak English, but we were lucky enough to sit next to a really nice local and his 2 young daughters who helped us translate the menu and get another taxi back to the border. The portions were very generous and the service was great. Atmosphere was okay but the carnitas made up for it! Prepared to perfection! It's near the hospital about 10 min outside Revolución.

I had someone call from our hotel and we got right in and there was a line outside. They serve breakfast, lunch and dinner. It is all great. Their breakfast goes from American eggs and bacon with the best potatoes to wonderful burrito type breakfast items. Their menudo is great and they have great Mexican meats as well. Lunch and dinner is about the same. They make Mexican style fish and steak that is just perfect every time. All of their Mexican dishes are just wonderful. You can't go wrong. They even have bottled water--never drink the water there, just don't. They have the best rice and beans. The service is great. They make you feel right at home and even if you don't speak Spanish, most speak English and you will figure it out because they will help you. The prices are fair for what you get. At dinner I consider it fine dining. It is all good and you will be happy. The place is also clean and super comfortable.

It has an old spanish mission look on the outside and walking in, you can immediately recognize that it is an impressive and popular place. The decor here is something to write home about. Beautiful wall fixtures, and well crafted local pottery and other artifacts, all around, everywhere. There is ample seating, that is well spaced out. Perfectly pitched Mexican music permeates the atmosphere. There is attentive staff that is so courteous, and welcoming. I wanted to eat lite, and I wanted to eat Mexican, so I chose the Yucatán Tamales. It comes as one pork and one chicken, both slim, wide rectangles, each baked in a banana leaf. They both had their subtle and distinct flavors. Comes with refried beans. The complementary salsas, the rojo and verde, were fresh and tasty. Service was outstanding. Another memorable restaurant in Tijuana, that needs to be filed into the "excellent" and "must go" folders.

Pero eso si, el mesero exigiendo la propina, hablé con el gerente y me dijo que tratan de evitar eso, pero la verdad yo no vi que trataran de evitarlo, al contrario, está de sobra decir que no regresaremos.
