Corn tamale pretty positive was not fresh added sour cream made it taste better
Cassandra D.

My chilaquiles were terrible. The beans on the plate were delicious. corn tamale was like a 3 out of 10. Chilaquiles had three eggs on top those were okay even the tortilla was bland.

Tostada carne de res desebrada

I've been coming to this menudearía for many years and it never disappoints. My favorite is their menudo of course, their quesadillas sencillas de queso and their tostadas con carne de res. They have updated their area at this location. When you first enter they have a small bakery showcase to the right hand side. The new update looks really nice. The waitress was a sweetheart very patient and checking on us often. I will for sure continue to eat here.

Menudo mediano, tortillas hechas a mano.

Cada visita es deliciosa. El sabor del menudo nunca cambia. Los meseros muy atentos con el servicio, amables y cortes, como debe ser. Tengo años regresando a este lugar y siempre satisfecha. Solo el estacionamiento es lo decepcionante.

Cash only! This is a nice restaurant. It is large, and full service. It was very quiet on the weeknight we were here. It is adjacent to a residential area, and there is plenty of on-street parking. There is a covered patio for seating which is nice -- though it is on a sort of busy street and the patio is near the road, so there is some car noise and close to pollution. But still, I appreciated sitting out on the patio. Food was good. The menus were a bit hard to interpret, but there was a large selection. Be sure to have cash. It looks like the sort of place that would accept a card, but in fact it is cash only. There is an ATM about 10 minutes away (walking).

chilaquiles with red salsa

My friend mentioned this place to me the last time I was in TJ, so we dined here for breakfast a couples months ago. There was a small line at the entrance before we could be seated, but there was plenty of seating inside and outside in the patio. This restaurant used to be a house, which I could tell from the layout. The decor is very weird and a bit scary though- lots of beheaded animals hanging on the walls. We were seated at one of their long community tables and looked over the menu. This restaurant is known for their menudo, but I wanted to try their pozole instead. My other friends ordered the menudo, chilaquiles con pollo, and the arrachera asada, and another chilaquiles with the red salsa. For drinks, we got the horchata and cucumber agua frescas. The drinks came out first without any ice, so they took it back shortly afterwards from us. The ones that got the cucumber drink said it tasted better before LOL. My horchata was too watered down and didn't have enough cinnamon in it. Foodwise, I enjoyed my pozole. It came with tostada chips and some veggies. I also tried my friedn's asada dish, which was alright- nothing special about it. If you're into menudo, this dish looked amazing! It came with fresh tortillas, diced onions, avocado, and lime. Maybe I'll have the courage to try this dish one day!

I visited this niche restaurant only after it moved to the new location (adjacent to previous…read morelocation) in the Plaza Alameda town center type complex. I didn't have high expectations since I hadn't tasted this Mexican-Caribbean type cousine before. I left promising to return. The restaurant is on a second story area of the Plaza and shares the space with a mexican style seafood joint and a sushi place. They have elevators and it is wheelchair accessible. The decor is impressive and they even have a small shop that sells Yucatan region's clothes and souvenirs. A very talented older gentleman in a panama style hat was crooning old and new romantic songs and playing beautifully his guitar. We were greeted with an open door and allowed to chose our table. Drinks came quick and we set at deciphering the menu. Their Maya language menu items are a challenge for anyone to translate but a helpul description of the dish is printed in Spanish below. Like, I learned that poc is pork and featured in many dishes but I went for a fish entree recommended by the waiter instead. We also shared a grilled chicken salad. Our very good waiter suggested a grilled pargo fish fillet. It came wrapped in a banana leaf and was sauteed in a tomato onion salsa with shrimp and scallops. It was accompanied by fluffy spanish rice and a roasted tomatoes green salad. The chicken salad had thin slices of breast meat. tender and flavorful. The salad dressing was delicious too. Overall a great evening out and only cost about 20 per person including drinks and tip.

When entering the restaurant, you are kindly greeted and notice a really unique, rustic decor. The music is really soothing, the type you are able to have a nice conversation without letting it disturbing you. The menu has a variety of plates which are unique to the southern region of Mexico, more specifically Yucatan. I personally tried the "empanadas de bola de queso" and "cochinita pibil". I finished it off with an anise liqueur called Xtabentún which was surprisingly smooth. Needless to say, everything was delicious.. If you are looking for traditional Mexican plates that are different from the typical tacos, burritos, tortas, etc... then this place is perfect for the occasion.

It's such a comfort food for me that's usually my go/to. The tortilla is deep fried and tastes fresh. 5/5- CARNITAS- my husband thought it was great and full of flavor. His tortillas were fresh too. As soon as you walk into the restaurant you are met with the smoky aroma of toasted corn, simmering chilies, and roasted vegetables. I ordered The Rancheros! A perfect blend of salsa ranchera, beef chorizo, and a scrambled egg. The chorizo had a kick of spiciness! My daughter ordered the grand daddy of chilaquiles- De Mercado! A rich, savory comfort dish simmered in tangy tomatillo sauce, topped with tender, slow-cooked shredded pork. Both dishes were packed with flavor! To drink, I recommend ordering La Verde- a traditional Mexican aqua fresca infused with cucumber, lime and chia seeds! This drink was fire!!! My daughter ordered the Mexican Iced Latte- which was a bold, and refreshing coffee drink that balanced rich chocolate with warm spices! Overall, service was impeccable! The ambiance was colorful and vibrant! Love the décor! My only gripe would be to suggest turning on the air conditioner. At times, the dining hall became excessively hot and somewhat uncomfortable.
