A perfect blend of salsa ranchera, beef chorizo, and a scrambled egg. The chorizo had a kick of spiciness! My daughter ordered the grand daddy of chilaquiles- De Mercado! A rich, savory comfort dish simmered in tangy tomatillo sauce, topped with tender, slow-cooked shredded pork. Both dishes were packed with flavor! To drink, I recommend ordering La Verde- a traditional Mexican aqua fresca infused with cucumber, lime and chia seeds! This drink was fire!!! My daughter ordered the Mexican Iced Latte- which was a bold, and refreshing coffee drink that balanced rich chocolate with warm spices! Overall, service was impeccable! Great food, friendly service, chill vibe, and reasonable prices. I've been here a few times and I've always had good experiences. The workers are tentative, check up on you, and friendly. There is indoor and outdoor seating available, and plenty of free parking. I love their lattes (mazapan being my favorite), but their cajeta, and Mexican mocha are good as well. The cafe de olla is a little too sweet for me, but not bad. I have tried a few different food items, but my favorite is their chilaquiles. There are 4 other locations in San Diego, but this is the newest and it sits adjacent to the Bay. The Los Rancheros was completely different but equally as good with a fried egg on top. The chips were perfect with enough thickness to not get soggy. This was my second time trying Cocina 35 on Airway Rd. Restaurant did not disappoint. I took friends visiting from New Mexico and they all enjoyed their authentic Mexican breakfast. Now the food, i ordered the enfrijoladas, the flavor was very good, delicious, however they didn't have corn tortillas, and im not a fan of flour, i decided to still try it with flour and well that was not it for me, it changed the whole flavor at least for me, the beans were delicious but the tortilla was a big disappointment, is a Mexican restaurant, how do you ran out of tortillas lol, i also ordered the coffee flight, is 4 different hot lattes in different flavors, they were not hot, if anything just a little warm, and out of the 4, only 2 were good, the other ones were just ok. The way they cut and fry the tortillas really makes a difference. It helps keep the chilaquiles crispy and not overly soggy with just the right amount of sauce . The secret salsa is good , not crazy spicy but definitely creamy . The cafe de olla is pretty good , but unfortunately the pilloncillo seems pretty watered down . My daughter's milestone birthday weekend is wrapping up, so to conclude the final day of her 3-day birthday celebration, we invited my parents to join us for breakfast because my daughter wanted to celebrate with her grandparents. We had several breakfast spots to choose from, but ultimately we decided on Cocina 35 because my wife had eaten at their downtown location and raved about their chilaquiles. If you're a chilaquiles breakfast fan, then Cocina 35 needs to be a Must Visit restaurant because they specialize in them and serve a delicious version. What also stood out about our visit was the standout customer service from our waitress Brianna. Cocina 35 is a chain restaurant that has 5 locations throughout San Diego. My wife visited the downtown location and there's another location at Liberty Station. This was my family's first time visit to this location, which can be found on the 905 freeway east exiting at the very last exit before the Otay Mesa Mexican border entrance. Cocina 35 is located within a business district and other warehouse buildings sharing the same parking lot as the Casas warehouse. The restaurant can be found in what appears to be another warehouse/office building. There is plenty of parking. This Cocina 35 is spacious with indoor and outdoor seating. There is table top seating with rattan chairs and leather bench seating. As you enter the restaurant, the focal point is the faux tree with red flowers against their main wall and the name of the restaurant. Their floors were distressed wood laminate; there were decorative light fixtures; there was white, distressed brick on the other wall; and there were mounted frames of family pics. Our waitress Brianna provided notable customer service, had a friendly and positive demeanor, and she remembered about bringing out a dessert to celebrate my daughter. Cocina 35 is known for their quality chilaquiles breakfast, so if a restaurant specializes in something, then it better be really good. After eating the chilaquiles on my plate, I can unequivocally say that Cocina 35 needs to be your chilaquiles destination. Checking out their menu, I was looking for traditional breakfast food, but under the Cocina 35 logo, it proudly says it's an old school Mexican restaurant, so the menu contains mainly Mexican food particularly chilaquiles. I decided to order their El Patron Sampler, which is their best seller and it comes with your choice of regular chilaquiles, beans, 2 eggs any way you want, and Cajeta toast. The chilaquiles come with tortilla chips garnished with sour cream, cotija cheese, cilantro, red onions, and avocado. Definitely order the El Patron Sampler because you get savory with the chilaquiles and the beans and sweet with their Cajeta toast, which is basically French toast. For my chilaquiles, I added carne asada for an additional charge and I loved everything about those chilaquiles. The chips were crunchy despite the amount of components heaped on them, there was a generous amount of carne asada, and the half of avocado added creaminess to them. They were really tasty and satisfying. The beans had a watery, creamy texture and they were okay. I enjoyed the Cajeta toast, which were cooked perfectly and it had strawberries, blueberries, and whip cream. The sampler was an ideal combo of savory and sweet. To make my food go down easy, I ordered their Cafe De La Olla House Special coffee. It had cinnamon and was unique Mexican style coffee. Definitely order that, add creamer, and generously add their syrup to make it sweeter. On Cocina 35's menu, it boasts about them serving the Best Chilaquiles in Town and based off of my experience, I totally agree. Cocina 35 made my daughter's birthday breakfast extra special by bringing out a $6 birthday dessert and part of their staff to cheer on our daughter. I have been going to cocina 35 since back in the day when the only location was the one in Otay Mesa, I love the food however service is lacking. It took 15 minutes to get water and it was not busy our sever didn't check in on us and like I said the flavor is good, but that's the only thing saving this restaurant because every time I've come the food comes out cold I love this place and I will come back, but I just hope in the future they work on these things especially for the price you pay. I visited Cocina 35 for the first time since it was La Loteria. I brought my parents and cousin to try it as one of my old stomping grounds. It's really cool how they have the dishes available to view so you know exactly what you're getting. We got a combination of chilaquiles and my personal favorite, enfrijoladas. Everyone loved their dishes. We especially liked the fresh beverage, agua verde with cucumber. We even got some drinks to go. We also got churros (which were alright, not the best) and a packaged concha, my mom liked it. Overall great experience, fresh food, great service. Well, firstly, we were seated at a table that had about 5 strands of hair on the bench. It kind of threw me off, but I didn't wanna make a big deal out of it and asked my niece to ask the waitress if it could be cleaned. However, when looking down at the seat, we noticed something crawling. There were tiny bugs crawling in the crevice of the bench, along with dirt and some trash. When we brought that to their attention, they apologized and moved us down a few tables. We definitely should have left at this point and I'm not sure why we didn't to be honest. Aside from the hair and bugs. When we arrived to the restaurant, they seemed confused, as if they didn't know we had a 10:30am reservation. Also, I'm assuming because we were a larger party, they were trying to add on a bunch of unnecessary stuff. For example, when we asked for water, they brought us bottled water with their fancy logo on it, which was $3 each, instead of regular iced water in cups, like everyone else at the other tables. Of course we asked them to take those bottled waters back and asked for iced water in cups. They also charged more, depending on how you wanted your eggs prepared. I've never heard of a restaurant doing this before. Our waitress was nice, and the food was good, but we definitely will not be going back. At least not to this location.
