Amazing food! Build your own omelette with carnitas was delicious. Beef chorizo chilaquiles were amazing. Coffee on point! Our waitress, Yajaira was so nice and accommodating. She went above and beyond. Would definitely be back when coming home from MX.

Always a huge pleasure to come back to cocina 35!!! The service is a 10/10, everyone is very friendly and attentive. The place is absolutely adorable! And the line is getting better. The food is to die for! I went for the build your own chilaquiles with the tomato sauce and the cochinita pibil, it was delicious!!!!! Can't wait to go back!

La Bomba Chilaquiles

Great food, friendly service, chill vibe, and reasonable prices. I've been here a few times and I've always had good experiences. The workers are tentative, check up on you, and friendly. There is indoor and outdoor seating available, and plenty of free parking. I love their lattes (mazapan being my favorite), but their cajeta, and Mexican mocha are good as well. The cafe de olla is a little too sweet for me, but not bad. I have tried a few different food items, but my favorite is their chilaquiles. The bomba is delicious, it's a creamy habanero and I love the flavor. The meat/ cochinita pibil is super tender and tastes amazing. Great breakfast and worth checking out.

COCINA 35 in Coronado was highly recommended by my sister-in-law for breakfast on a Sunday. She made a reservation the night before for our party of 10! I LOVED THIS RESTAURANT!!! There are 4 other locations in San Diego, but this is the newest and it sits adjacent to the Bay. What I ordered: - Mazapan Latte - - El Patron Sampler - - Sweet Corn Tamal side - - Lychee Martini - Everything was photogenic, tasty, and downright irresistible! I'm literally dreaming about it again as I write this. Just when I thought I've tasted everything at various Mexican restaurants, COCINA 35 pleasantly surprised me and I can't wait to return and try everything else on the menu! We sat in the back patio area and it was the perfect setting for a beautiful meal under the San Diego sunny sky! Parking was free and easy breezy at 8:30am.

The food was very flavorful. The restaurant was clean and the service was impeccable. This one is further out than most but there's no wait but a steady amount of customers. Highly recommend!I'm eager to try the one in Coronado too.

Los Rancheros Chilaquiles

These really are the best chilaquiles! The salsa verde and the carnitas in the Del Mercado was so flavorful and fresh. The Los Rancheros was completely different but equally as good with a fried egg on top. The chips were perfect with enough thickness to not get soggy. The agua frescos looked amazing and had a great variety. I had an iced Mexican Mocha which was made by their in house barista. The service was friendly and fast. The patio seating was perfect.

De Mercado Chilaquiles

The best chilaquiles in SD, no arguments here! It's SoCals hidden gem being tucked in this area but awesome for the people who live in the neighborhood. We can all still get good food without having to go downtown! Definitely have to go multiple times to try all the items to pick your favorite. OR go with your family/friends and each order something different for everyone to try. This portions are BIG! So unless you can eat, don't be surprised if you'll need a to-go box! The place was always vibey before but with the renovations it's super cute! Before - you ordered through the line and sat down to wait for your food. Now - you sit and they can take your order. They also added more seating and booths. Service is always exceptional! They don't have "assigned" areas I don't think and everyone just assists whoever needs it!

This is a hidden gem just minutes away from the cbx crossing. 1st of all, the service was amazing! Our server Yajaira was super attentive and was so fun to talk to. Her energy matched the vibe! There's plenty of seating as they can accommodate large groups and they have a patio. Now for the drinks and food. We had the cafe de olla which was amazing accompanied by a warm conchita. El Patron was my plate and it had la bomba chilaquiles with a spicy habanero sauce and cochinita pibil and cajeta French toast. My sister had El Antojo and that comes with an omelet with your choice of sauce and chilaquiles with your choice of protein. All of it was so delicious and we highly recommend this place! Coming back soon!

Cafe de la Olla

I had an amazing experience with the staff accommodations for my service Animal. Yahaira the server made my experience very welcoming. I enjoyed the Cafe de la Olla with piloncio highly recommend. We ordered Chilaquiles Cremosos and El Patron. The quality of the food is very creamy, fresh, and well cooked. They are known for being the best Chilaquiles in the city and I agree. Overall my experience was by far exceptional especially with the accommodations for my service dog.

Tamal Gratinado at Cocina 35 Airway Rd location.

This was my second time trying Cocina 35 on Airway Rd. Restaurant did not disappoint. I took friends visiting from New Mexico and they all enjoyed their authentic Mexican breakfast. We tried the following: -Chicken flautas with avocado and beans. So delicious and crispy. -Tamale with cheese -Chorizo with eggs and beans -Potato flautas -Café de la olla -Cucumber agua fresca Everyone rated their plates 5/5 stars. The service was great and the restaurant was clean. If you're a fan of chilaquiles, this is the place to try they have so many good options on their menu. This location is small near the border. I recommend going before 12noon because it gets very busy and they close at 2pm. There's only indoor seating with plenty of parking space. Give this place a try when in the area or try the Cocina 35 location at Liberty Station. Happy Yelping :)

Excellent food, Excellent service Yajaira customer service was above amazing!!! Very attentive to our needs, gave suggestions and our meal was AMAZING!

This place is Hubby approved, yes I finally found a place he liked ! He never understood the excitement over chilaquiles. He understands now . The way they cut and fry the tortillas really makes a difference. It helps keep the chilaquiles crispy and not overly soggy with just the right amount of sauce . The secret salsa is good , not crazy spicy but definitely creamy . The cafe de olla is pretty good , but unfortunately the pilloncillo seems pretty watered down . Not thick at all or sweet , it's supposed to be straight cane sugar so I assume it's sweet . Pero negative . Place is always clean and ample parking .

This place is so cool for celebrating special occasions…read more We celebrated our anniversary and they gave us a candle with our names on it!! So sweet The interior is so cool - very gothic medieval vibes inside!! We tried a couple of items but specifically LOVED the squash blossom and the crab donut and the duck memelita! The fried chicken tacos were pretty good as well Personally I did not love the fondue - comes with corn tortillas on the side - it's not my favorite style Drinks were great - I tried the guava Paloma and liked it a lot but wish it was a bit more sweet more guava flavor

We ordered about six small plates, and they were all delicious and unique. Hard to pick a favorite. I'd say the shrimp tacos were absolutely incredible. Everything else was packed with flavor and very different than anything you will encounter at any other restaurant. It is special. My only complaint is that the place is so dark that you can barely read the menu. Also, being so dark, you can't get a good look at the food or even see color. And I would think that the food is beautifully presented. We are in our 60s. That might have something to do with our inability to see anything in that low light condition. We had to pull our phones out so that we could light up the menu and check out the food we were about to eat. It does make for a dramatic ambience. There are thousands of candles that add to the experience. But I gotta knock them a point because I couldn't see my food or read the menu without help.

Enjoyed the different flavors of ceviche and was a fan of the super crispiness of calamari. My fav was the ahi tuna tostada. The gentleman/waiter handed us the menu and went on his way. Chips and salsa along with waters for the table were brought and then that was when the service of our waiter went downhill. We ordered the ahi tuna and guacamole for our appetizers but the timing for the meal was so off. It was a long wait before the waiter even checked back on us and which is when I asked for a refill on my water and chips. We had order drinks as well. The smoked old fashion was good and the ahi tuna appetizer portion was plentiful. There were some parts of the diced ahi that was a bit chewy. The gaucamole portion was large and it wasn't until I asked another waiter did my refill of water and chips arrive. For entree, we got the scallops with corn cake, a salad and I had the poblano burger. I asked for the burger to be cooked to medium. When the entrees arrived my burger was overcooked with no pink in sight. The flavor of the burger was good but the burger was definitely dry as can be. The corn cake with scallop was interesting it was almost like the corn cake was a croquet that encased a corn salsa. Overall the food was okay but the service left a lot to be desired. The waiter and the end seemed to put up a fake act when the check came. Since we asked for the check it seemed like the waiter was on hyper speed. Overall the view is nice but the food and service did not meet the expectations.

If…read moreyou're stopping in San Diego and want to get a fix on authentic Mexican food, this is definitely the place. The salsa assortment is definitely worth ordering to go with the complimentary basket of chips and the complimentary salsa, because the three in the salsa assortment include very creative flavors, including an avocado-based salsa and a delicious pistachio one, along with one that is spicy enough to suit any palate. The house guacamole is also deliciously creamy and perfectly seasoned with lime. The real knockout dish that I had, though, was the taco with chicken pastor. I'm a big fan of pastor, but this is a very non-traditional preparation of pastor. Instead of being shredded pork mixed with a spicy sauce and hunks of pineapple, this was almost more like a Mexican cordon bleu where the chicken had been amazingly seared in some combination with cheese and pastor spices. It was absolutely delicious. The tacos might seem expensive at $10 apiece, but combined with the obviously house-made corn tortillas, I think they're a bargain. Service was friendly, and the atmosphere is very chill. There's a large outside seating area to enjoy, and San Diego is nearly always perfect weather.
