In my many years of eating at restaurants, I can assure you that this is the worst service I have ever had. So bad in fact, that I finally had to get up to get my own napkins. The service was fast and accurate. The chips and salsa are great. Had the chori-pollo diner and it's amazing! The chorizo is a bit greasy but it's suppose to be. Comes with chicken beast and chorizo mixed together and covered with cheese dip. No need to say more! read more

My husband and I ate here once and the atmosphere was quaint in the restaurant. Very nice place for a couple or maybe a small party. It looked to me that most of its patrons were "regulars." On another note, we have ordered from there for take-out several times. Food is great for the area and their prices are alright. I was just visiting from San Diego and I needed my mexican food fix. El Serape satisfied my cravings and left my belly full. The food was great and there was enough left for take home seconds. The prices were actually lower than I would've expected for a sit down restaurant... especially since my serving was huge. Tasty salsa although I would've liked if there were more flavors, ie salsa verde, hotter, salsa fresca. (they may have them but I didn't ask) Anyway, good restaurant. read more

By far the best authentic Mexican food hands down. I've searched high and low for an authentic Mexican restaurant since moving here from CA, and this place is excellent! Prices are reasonable and portions are large. They also have a 2nd location in Ashwaubenon near Hwy 41 - so if you're here for a Packer game, this place is just a few minutes away. I always order burritos or enchiladas, and their burritos are huge. Also use their take out and service is always prompt. They have great homemade salsa too. I love their spiciest foods, but mild is good too. Special lunch deals also offered during weekdays. This is the place all the locals love. read more

We visit this spot often, I am from Texas, and this is the closest to my hometown food. Saying that, the service here is lazy, slow, and the wait staff seems to not be too concerned about their patrons. If you try to make a plate special, they usually say you cant. After arguing they may, but it will still come out wrong. The blended drinks are weak too, so avoid them. I have looked for food that tastes the same, but I havent found it in Green Bay....... yet. read more

I order here all the time until recently when I ordered 2 burritos, they were soggy and had no flavor. I called and spoke to the manager who said he was unable to remake the order or refund me I kept pushing and he finally told me the owner was coming in later and he would talk to them and call me back the same day the manager never ended up calling me back so I called him the following day and was told that he had a meeting with the owner and were not able to refund or remake our order but wanted us to try them again but they could not guarantee that the food would be good. During the deepest, darkest part of winter, the surest thing to beat seasonal affective disorder is a trip to El Sarape. No, I'm not suggesting that you drown your sorrows in one of their Big Gulp-esque margaritas (although that's certainly an option too-- they are super delicious) but the fresh ingredients in the house salsas (you get the standard super-garlicky red and then a milder green tomatillo-based salsa for the freshly made white corn tortilla chips) will beat your post-winter funk in a heartbeat. The burritos are gargantuan and the prices are very affordable. It's only place where you can get takeout for $14 and have at least a second meal out of the leftovers. I highly recommend the ribeye taco with fresh guacamole or the amazing shrimp burritos (ala Cancun) which are shrimp rolled in a white corn tortilla, covered in white queso and lime zest -- outstanding! Everything in this place is fresh, right down to the housemade Horchata. Do yourself a favor and just order a pitcher right away, because you'll need its healing coolness when you accidentally overdose on a quart of the amazing salsa. I'm kind of stingy with the five star reviews here on Yelp, but if I could give a 4.5, I certainly would for El Sarape. read more

My favorite restaurant for Mexican food by far. Good deal and good quality, never disappointed. If you're one for burritos (like me), then this is definitely the place to go. I usually get the Steak Sarape Burrito (with Chili De Arbol - flavorful and spicy salsa) which cost ~$8 and will surely fill you up or even be enough for a second meal. Good food, beer,pricing, and service. I have tried a number of their dishes and have not had a bad one. The dishes seem to be authentic and made to order rather than "manufactured" like some of the Mexican restaurants around the country. The staff seems to be genuine in their service to each patron. This is normal Mexican food. The place is clean and service was spot on. Will definitely return when in Green Bay again.

If I could give El Sarape 2 1/2 stars I would. The waiter was nice and attentive. Seating was a little bit crowded; we were there on a Friday night and there were enough empty tables that they could take a few out. Brightly colored and cute decor, but could have been cleaner. Traditional margaritas were good but the strawberry tasted like a smoothie. My husband's burrito was good, my daughter's enchilada wasn't. Get the Sarape burrito! It is giant and will definitely feed two. It looks like one of those 5 lb burritos on man vs food. The "half size" burrito that you can order is a normally size burrito at other restaurants. The ONLY reason I did not give this place 5 stars is because they charge $1.50 for chips and salsa if you finish off the free basket--what a rip off! read more

Arrived at 6PM on a Friday night. Interior decorated authentically Mexican. Place was packed but we got the last available table. Waiter immediately brought salsa & chips and our soda. At 6:15 he took our order. Extremely large & varied menu. My wife & I both ordered a combination dinner. At 6:35 our meals arrived. Hot, delicious, filling...all at a very reasonable price. Waiter checked back to make sure our food was pleasing to us. Water glasses were regularly filled by waiter's assistant. Only complaint of the night was that the waiter never checked back to see if our sodas needed refilling. At 7PM he stopped to see if we wanted to order anything else. At that time we requested soda refills which he happily complied with. My wife and I split a fried ice cream. They normally didn't make it the way we requested but our waiter stated he'd see what he could do. 2 minutes later he showed up with the fried ice cream exactly as we had specially requested. It was large and delicious. We left our waiter a very generous tip as he did an excellent job in a very friendly, yet professional manner. We paid our bill and left at 7:15PM. We were happy to find that the praise that we'd heard for El Serape was well deserved. We are looking forward to the opportunity to bring friends here. read more
