Decided to have lunch and a few drinks. Weather was perfect so we decided to sit outside on the patio. Not too crowded, but enough happy people to show that the food is good. The service was slow and unorganized. Our server kept forgetting things, drinks weren't refilled unless it was the alcoholic ones. Our food came out warm instead of hot. Not the greatest food or service, but will go back and give it a second chance. read more

It's hard to find really good mexican food in Vail.... Tostada, chicken- the chicken was completely dry. I don't even think it was warm It was like last night's rotisserie chicken Trio Taco, one asada, one pork, one chicken- the only good taco on this plate was the pork. Asada and chicken were both dry and unseasoned!! I wouldn't come back here. read more

This IS my favorite Mexican food! It is hand made with very fresh ingredients! Got stopped on I 70 and decided to stop in for dinner! Had the Mahi mahi grilled fish tacos and my hubby had the chicken burrito with a red sauce. Wow the sauce was different but so good! Happy hour Pacifico s on tap and Negro modelo! Also house margaritas! But the food makes this place! read more

El Sabor - Mahi Mahi grilled taco! - Tex-Mex Near Me - Vail, Colorado

Do your self a favor and hit this place up. Right on the river and the nachos are the best I have had EVER. The Barbacoa is excellent and the salsa is mild enough for kids. Outside dinning is outstanding. Definitely coming back in the morning for breakfast. read more

I ate at El Sabor last week on Friday night. The food was decent (cheese sauce was particularly good), however, the service was outrageous. When I first arrived, the wait staff seemed reluctant to have my friends and me. By the end of the meal, we were eager to leave! When the bill came back with additional charges, the waiter said there was nothing he could do and walked away. What shocked me was when I asked for a manager to handle the situation, the guy who claimed to be the GM approached me in a hostile manner and told me the charges were final. Not only does this seem illegal, but also very unprofessional. I would think twice before coming to the restaurant! read more

A very nice venue to grab some good Mexican food that isn't overly priced in pricey Vail, Colorado. Service was great, and food was excellent. I had the Miguel's enchilada's and my wife had the Carnitas off the dinner menu. The chips and salsa were good, and there's a great view near the gondola. read more

El Sabor - These are Miguel's enchiladas. Slightly spicy chicken enchiladas with a mushroom sauce. The Moros and Cristianos are perfect. - Tex-Mex Near Me - Vail, Colorado

The first red flag is that there was no host. We had to choose a table and waited a long time to be served. Once we ordered, we waited a long time as each plate came out. The corn in the cub is great. At the end we were missing two salads our server forgot to order. We left with two hungry people in our party. Go to Smokehouse instead. read more

I really liked the environment of the bar/restaurant. The guacamole was very good. The margaritas were also excellent. The chicken fajitas had an interesting space to them, very nice. The tacos were not as good. Kind of dry. The enchiladas also were not that great. Again, kind of dry. Carnitas and Barbacoa are family favorites of ours. This restaurant's offerings were just under OK. read more

Waited for 45 minutes- they forgot about our food. Waitress was rude when we asked and never came back to fill up our drinks. When the food finally came it was good but cold. Update: the manager reached out to us and apologized for the poor service. Appears that a combination of additional tables and new service was the reason for all of our problems. Next time we are in Vail, we will give them another try. read more

We had the carnitas tacos, shishito peppers and the chili relleno. The chili relleno is well worth coming back for the rest was ok. The view overlooking the pool and river is great. read more

I want to say this had to be the most horrified I've been ever. This service was great but as I was finishing up my food, a roach crawled across my table. The manager did nothing to rectify, she just apologize and said the construction was the cause of the roaches. As we walked out we looked around and didn't see CONSTRUCTION ANYWHERE, I will NEVER GO THERE AGAIN!!!! read more

Food was luke warm at best after clearly sitting under a warmer for too long. Sauces and salsa was good. All meat was dry. Mediocre at best. read more

El Sabor is a great place to grab a breakfast burrito before heading up the slopes as well as ABSOLUTELY AMAZING Elote! We have had lot of Elote in our time and their Elote was superb! The mahi-mahi was also delicious and the staff was very pleasant and friendly. Highly recommend to those visiting Vail! read more

Hard to not get top ratings on Mexican in my mind but this just wasn't that good. And definitely overpriced.

Cute place to eat before getting on the lift. They start you off with Mimosa's or what I got: Bloody Maria that had tequila instead of vodka. Very tasty! Had the Huevos Ranchero. Had a lot of black beans...almost too many. The egg was cooked perfectly, as well as the chorizo. Beautiful view. Can only imagine what it looks like at night!!! read more

A great offering on the menu. We had a lime chicken salad and carnitas tacos. Along with a tasty margarita. Would highly recommend. Great patio seating next to the creek and aspens. read more

A great surprise for those staying in Lionshead is El Sabor. I recommend going. My wife has the Mahi Tacos and she loved them. I had the shrimp fajitas and the shrimp was grilled to perfection and the sides (cheese, grilled veggies, sour cream, and guac) were -great. The Margherita's are excellent. The entire place is very casual..great for families and just low down good food. One suggestion: The Guac should be prepared fresh...it is really average and if the chef and servers would make it fresh per serving, it would make a huge difference. Same with the salsa...its clearly from a bottle. Make it fresh. But aside from that....its a good spot. read more

Well-- we uncovered the mystery! We were shocked to find, on a Saturday night, before the 4th of July, in Vail-- not only no wait at this restaurant, but also a mostly empty dining room! We had to BEG to spend our $$ in here! It took 15 minutes before a waiter wandered over to greet us. By that time we had made our selections for the whole meal. He seemed surprised that we were a little put out. The food is better than decent and the drinks are really good. Nice menu, too. A beautiful view to boot! What w waste of someone's effort... not to mention rent money! When I walked passed the kitchen, on my way to the ladies room, I saw 5 servers and cooks--ALL looking at their phones. I'd be livid if I was in charge. read more

The food here is really tasty and perfect for a no-frills evening out with a big group in Vail. Yes it is not the most gourmet Mexican food out there, but if you're looking for a spot that you can escape the whopping price tags of this mountain town for a night (again, especially if you're with family/a group), then this is a solid option. The outdoor patio is wonderful as well! read more

Whenever me and my family went there we couldn't get in. Yesterday we went there and couldn't get seated because we arrived at 7:34 and theystop seating at 7:30. Today we went at 7:03 and they told us that they weren't seating even though the restaurant closes at 8:00. read more

Great food and better service. Wow! I had a hand squeezed fresh Patron Perfect margarita that took my mind right to sunbathing on a sandy beach in the Yucatán peninsula. This place is great! The view from the deck and dining room is perfect for aprés! Our waiter, who has a fantastic mustache, recommended the Queso Fundido appetizer to start and hand stuffed Tres Chiles entree and let me tell you- my taste buds will never be the same. If you're looking for a restaurant that has EVERYTHING, you found it! read more

Food was alright, but we had this waiter who was a complete punk. He had a terrible mustache and brought me my food which was incredibly not what I ordered but refused to take it back. I continued to eat my meal and nibble off of friend's orders. Again the food was spectacular, but if you get the waiter with the terrible mustache expect attitude and rudeness. read more

Waiter and server were great but the manager was terrible. He tried to tell all of us there was no alcohol left when we were all sober. We go to the bar and ask and he says of course we have alcohol. We brought it up to the staff at the end and the manager just says "you never have to come back if you don't want." Terrible service on managements part. read more

Hands down the best tacos I have eaten in the last 50 years...the staff is so nice and friendly...the beers are cold and there is plenty of room with a slope side view. This is the apres ski place to go in Vail. read more

We were in a Vail to go to Epic Discovery and found this place via Yelp for our lunch break. Jessica was our server and was excellent. Very friendly, explained/had suggestions about the menu, answered all our questions and was attentive. I felt the pricing was fair considering where we were and the food was excellent. Very fresh. I would definitely recommend not only the restaurant, but Jessica. read more

Located next to the base of the Eagle Bahn gondola in Lions Square, this Latin-style restaurant sports a fantastic scenic view of Vail mountain and overlooks the heated pool below, There's also a full bar here so you can kick back and relax. We came for lunch and the proportions were awfully generous to say the least. The burritos are excellent. The iced tea, however, tasted like watered coffee as it was immediately apparent they used the wrong filter. When we brought this to the attention of the owner/manager he was very pleasant and acknowledged that we weren't the first to complain about the coffee flavor (apparently the grounds had become trapped in the spouts and still lingered) and that he just wasn't going to serve iced tea anymore but really just have the spouts thoroughly cleaned and sanitized and you're good to go. I'd definitely eat here again, but maybe next time hold the iced tea. read more

The people who have left prior reviews over 1 star must be the employees of the restaurant. If there was an option for 0 stars, that's what I would rate it. I've never written a review before, but we chose this restaurant based on Yelp reviews...Unfortunately. First, we sat ourselves at a table by the window. We were one of two occupied tables in the entire restaurant (this should have been a sign) at 7:00 p.m. We ordered chips and guacamole. Instead, the waiter brought us chips and salsa (another sign). For dinner, our party of 3 ordered carne asada enchiladas, chicken enchiladas, and chicken tacos. This was BY FAR the WORST Mexican food I have EVER had anywhere. The "carne asada" and chicken looked and tasted like it had been prepared at 8:00 a.m. and warmed up several times throughout the day before it was put on our plates. The chicken tasted like plastic. I was not brave enough to try the carne asada, but my dad, who was starving, took two bites and stopped eating. The refried beans were hard, stuck to the plate, and therefore inedible. The rice was even worse. All of the employees are teenagers. They have no idea what they are doing, and they certainly have never looked at the menu. We had questions before ordering, such as "does the meal come with white rice or yellow rice?" The response from our waiter was, and I quote: "It's more of a reddish brown." Great! PLEASE do yourself a favor and skip this place. Take the 10 minute drive to Edwards, CO and eat at Fiestas. The food is considerably better. read more

A new comer to Vail & owned by "Garfinkel", they need a little work starting by eliminating the mussy beans & sticky rice. I had the Chicken Mole which had great flavor, a little spicy & generous portion. My husband had the Chicken Fajitas which he really enjoyed (except for the rice & beans) & the Relleno also very good. I did not enjoy the Cactus salad, the texture was bad, taste unremarkable & it was served on a huge portion of lettuce, not good. With a few tweaks this restaurant could be good. read more

The food was great and the price is very reasonable. We had great service as well. Although the chips and salsa are not free, they are worth the $5. They have refilled out chips and the green salsa is very good. We also shared the steak fajitas. The meat was fantastic. It was well seasoned, very tender and cooked to our ask of medium. We did not drink here but the drinks looked good. I am normally against eating at a hotel restaurant, but this place is worth it. They have a couple tvs playing football and the patio view is great. Give this place a try! read more

What a great find. Right in Lionshead at the Lions Square Lodge. Great Mexican and fabulous burgers. Service was outstanding. Got to enjoy watching the skiers coming through the chute - so view was the cherry on top. Must do again next trip to Vail. read more

Great spot for breakfast at the base of the mountain in Lionshead. Very reasonable prices and a diverse menu. We went here two days in a row for breakfast on a holiday weekend-no wait! Mimosas were good both days. I had the breakfast quesadillas one day and the huevos benedicto day two, both with chorizo. I recommend the breakfast quesadillas over the huevos benedictos. My boyfriend had the French toast day one and the pancakes day two-he said both were equally good. I tried the pancakes, and they were delicious - very fluffy! read more

I did not enjoy Sabor. Nachos way too salty. Corn appetizers were disgusting; mushy and covered in some kind of gross mayo. Avocado tacos were just nasty. I shared with others and I didn't like anything. BTW I am from California and I know good Mexican food. read more

Can't rate food because we were asked to leave before I could order dinner. I have never experienced anything like this at any restaurant. A group of about 30 adults came in around 4 to have drinks and eventually grab a bite to eat. After about an hour of drinking we were asked to leave because they needed our table for a reservation of 20 people coming in. At this point we were the only people in the restaurant, so there were plenty or other open tables. We told them we were ordering food, but they told us we couldn't. This was very unprofessional. I have never heard of kicking out paying customers. Big mistake! We will not return. read more

Dined here for breakfast on 9/2/17. Not a wide variety on the menu, waitstaff were very handsome but clueless. For being in an upscale hotel I would have expected better. Three of us ordered basically the same item and all 3 items came out different! read more

Probably the best value in Vail. The entire dinner for a family of four with a margarita and a beer with tax was $34. And the food was good too. I had the fish tacos that are on special for Wednesdays. Rest of the family had tacos and burritos off the a la carte menu. For a few dollars they give you a big burrito. The only issue was that the sauce on the burrito was a little too spicy for my son. They also charge for the chips and salsa that most Mexican places don't charge for. Service was good and there is a beautiful view of the mountain. Finally a place in Vail that offers good food without costing the price of a lift ticket. read more

I couldn't have chosen a better venue - Colby was fantastic working with me on phone and email in Fla., planning menu, etc. The food was outstanding, location beautiful and very convenient for everyone! Brian and his assistant took excellent care of our party! Our group really enjoyed the buffet, plenty of food and great flavor! Tacos being the bride & groom's favorite food , this worked out to be a hit for our crowd! A special thank you to all who assisted in preparing! Betsy Fugate Joiner, Boca Grande, FL read more
