We tried the tacos and tostadas, and everything was absolutely delicious. The margarita was fantastic, and the homemade sparkling wine was such a unique and memorable touch. A special shoutout to Vanessa, who truly went above and beyond. She took the time to share the history of the restaurant and the owners' background, which made the experience feel so personal and meaningful. When she found out we were in Napa celebrating our 10-year anniversary, she offered us their homemade sparkling wine, and it was such a thoughtful gesture that we'll never forget. You can tell there is so much heart, history, and passion behind this restaurant. La Cheva is the kind of place that makes you feel welcomed, appreciated, and excited to come back. We can't recommend it enough, and if you're lucky enough to encounter Vanessa, you're in for an extra-special experience. We will absolutely be back!

Our food was fresh, flavorful, and the staff was friendly and welcoming. It was just a nice, easygoing lunch with family and a good break during our Napa day out. Nothing rushed, just good food, fresh air, and a fun atmosphere. Would definitely stop by again when we're in Napa.

How do you mess up Mexican food? Had dinner last night and the place was packed, so packed that our…read moreserver said the kitchen was backed up and it may take awhile. So we asked for salsa and chips and settled in. Even though it was incredibly noisy, the lighting and general look was fun and energetic, and there was room enough for a large party of 12, as well as outdoor seating. First the good part: the margarita flight was colorful, and presented on a wooden stand ready to be photographed. The various flavors were good and it was just the right size for sharing. The cocktails in general were good but my margarita tasted syrupy and like it was all mix. A red flag for what was to come. Now the bad: we ordered the massive burrito and a side of Mexican street corn. While the burrito looked impressive on the outside, it was so bad we were truly shocked. The filling was almost all rice with the tiniest amount of loose black beans mixed with some meat-like substance that was flavorless and dry. That was it. We tried to choke down a few bites but it was just a mushy rice bomb not worth the calories or time to eat. Maybe the kitchen ran out of beans and overfilled with rice, and maybe the meat was just whatever they could scrape from a skillet, but there was no excuse for that awful meal especially in Napa. The one plus from the evening was the service. Everyone we interacted with from the door staff to our server was so friendly and never made us feel rushed or that they were too busy to refill water or take away empty glasses etc. Our server was clearly handling a lot of tables but she was so cheerful and upbeat that it really made a truly awful meal a nice evening out regardless. Bottom line: with all the amazing Mexican food in Napa, at every price point and style I'd skip this place and choose one of the many amazing restaurants on the same street.

However, on October 21, we were extremely disappointed with the service. Starting with the service, the staff seemed completely unwilling to help. Honestly, the moment we walked through the door, we felt like turning around and leaving. I thought things might improve, but they actually got worse when our drinks arrived. My wife and I ordered a Coca-Cola and a Piña Colada. The Piña Colada was served in a beer glass and tasted more like a bland milkshake than a cocktail. It had no flavor and looked completely unappealing. My Coca-Cola, which came in a 500 ml bottle, was simply placed on the table without a glass or a straw. I guess I was expected to drink straight from the bottle. The food, on the other hand, is always wonderful. The flavor is absolutely delicious, and the portions are generous. The food is worth every penny. Unfortunately, the poor service and disappointing drinks made this visit a frustrating experience, especially considering how much we have enjoyed this restaurant in the past. Clean, pleasant restaurant with a family atmosphere.
