First the good part: the margarita flight was colorful, and presented on a wooden stand ready to be photographed. The various flavors were good and it was just the right size for sharing. The cocktails in general were good but my margarita tasted syrupy and like it was all mix. A red flag for what was to come. Now the bad: we ordered the massive burrito and a side of Mexican street corn. While the burrito looked impressive on the outside, it was so bad we were truly shocked. The filling was almost all rice with the tiniest amount of loose black beans mixed with some meat-like substance that was flavorless and dry. That was it. We tried to choke down a few bites but it was just a mushy rice bomb not worth the calories or time to eat. Maybe the kitchen ran out of beans and overfilled with rice, and maybe the meat was just whatever they could scrape from a skillet, but there was no excuse for that awful meal especially in Napa. The one plus from the evening was the service. Everyone we interacted with from the door staff to our server was so friendly and never made us feel rushed or that they were too busy to refill water or take away empty glasses etc. Our server was clearly handling a lot of tables but she was so cheerful and upbeat that it really made a truly awful meal a nice evening out regardless. Bottom line: with all the amazing Mexican food in Napa, at every price point and style I'd skip this place and choose one of the many amazing restaurants on the same street.

My wife and I have eaten at El Sabor Serano several times now, and every visit has been excellent. We've worked our way through a variety of their tacos a la plancha, including the carne asada, al pastor, suadero, chicharrón, and shrimp. Every one of them has been fresh, flavorful, and cooked perfectly. It's hard to pick a favorite because they're all so good. We've also tried the Wet Burrito with suadero, and it was outstanding. The suadero was tender and packed with flavor, and the rich sauce brought everything together perfectly. What really keeps us coming back is not only the food but also the service. Our server is always enthusiastic, welcoming, and genuinely happy to see customers. Even though this is a small, hole-in-the-wall restaurant in an older building next to a market, with a tiny kitchen and a single restroom, the food comes out surprisingly fast, and everything is made with care. Don't let the modest appearance fool you. El Sabor Serano delivers authentic, delicious Mexican food with friendly service and consistent quality. It's one of those hidden gems that deserves to be discovered, and we'll definitely be back to try more of the menu. Highly recommended! read more
