It's packed on a weekend but fine during the weekdays I had sopes and tostadas de ceviche de camarón. All was delicious. read more

Favorite Mexican food in Omaha! Reasonably priced, nice workers, and delicious food! My go to order is the tongue burrito with beans and rice inside. I usually get this as a take out order and it is always ready within 10 minutes of calling and placing the order! The burrito is quite large and always fills me up at the end of my meal. All orders come with chips and a few different types of salsa that are delicious! Highly recommend :) read more

The best food In town ,delicious menudo ,tasteful tacos and so are the sopes and pretty much everything on menu it's amazing!!!! Great value for your money Please stop by and see it for yourself read more

Tried it for the first time today. I wasn't that impressed. The chips come with 5 salsas but none of them were that great. The chips are thick and hard which I didn't care for. The al pastor taco and green enchiladas were average. My girlfriend did enjoy the quesadilla. In my opinion there are several better mexican restauraunts in town. read more

We've been to this place a few times in the weekend for pasole and menudo. We've had great experiences. The food is good and fresh.

I love this place!!!! They give you 5 different flavors of salsa with chips. Taste so good! They have daily specials. Also, they have 5.99 combo (meal + french fries and a drink). I usually get quesedilla or beef burrito. Good price and good food. I highly recommend this place. read more

Decent south O Mexican food. They have some interesting and very spicy sauces. The tacos were good but still doesn't hit all cylinders and wow you. However, they are cheap tacos so it's a good value read more

Been here half a dozen times now so i get the general idea. The 5 salsa tray is good. Basically this is a place you want to come on the weekend for their specials. (Pozole and menudo) The other menu items are so-so. Burritos are pretty much 80% rice and 20% whatever meat you order. Prices average read more

Being a Salvadorian from Massachusetts ( we have amazing local real Hispanic food restaurants there) I loves this place! The ceviche was great I didn't even need to add lime or salt! That's saying something! We asked for nachos and since my wife is vegan they gladly put the meat on he side! Food is fresh and the staff is so nice and it makes me feel like I'm back home or back in El Salvador at my grandmas house! So good! read more

We had an excellent meal which we ordered with UrberEats. Food was delicious, hot, and on time. I loved the fried quail especially

This is one of those places I hate to review, because I want it to remain a hidden South Omaha gem. Whether you dine alone or with others, you get treated to chips and multiple fresh salsas & pickled vegetables. My standard order generally consists of tacos al pastor and a ceviche tostada. The Cubano torta is also a fun experience if you're a fan of hotdogs like I am. Treat yourself to a Mexican coke, and their hot coffee is phenomenal. Trust me on that one. The huevos rancheros go with that coffee perfectly. If you're a soccer fan, this is a fun place to crack a cerveza and watch game. read more

We were impressed from the get-go by the salsa platter. Was surprisingly quiet for a Friday night, but all of the food was fantastic - and at a great price point. Downtown close; authentic flavors. read more

Delicious. Homemade tortillas does anything else need to be said? I got the pork in Chile verde they had the option of pork in Chile verde or pork with cactus I asked for pork AND cactus in the Chile verde and they did it! It was sooo yummy!!! Don't live in the area but would def go back if I happen to be in town! read more

When several of the folks I trust on here rate a place as highly as they rated El Rancho I tend to pay attention. Anne and I arrived before noon and we were the only English speaking people in the place. We were greeted promptly, found our own seat in a booth and served warm chips and FIVE different choices of salsa within minutes. The salsa choices ranged from mild to burning down the house and every one of the five had flavor, not just heat, not just mild, FLAVOR! The entrees we chose (enchiladas and flautas) were excellent. No back flips, no whiz bang, just first rate Mexican cooking. This one goes right to the top of the list of go to Mexican restaurants. read more

I'm feeling this place.Go se for your self. Worth the trip to south Omaha.Good salsa, good tacos and super good prices.

I am from California where Mexican food is in abundance....definitely one of the best Mexican food restaurants I have had outside of California! read more

Probably the second best Mexican food I've had in Omaha since moving here two years ago...behind Rivera's. However, Rivera's is (incredibly) loud, somewhat expensive and on the other side of town, so El Rancho will probably be the de facto choice for me and my wife for awhile. We joined two other couples at 7:30 on a Wednesday night. The place seemed kinda divey, but it was fairly clean and quiet and our waiter was very pleasant. Other reviewers have mentioned the bevy of complimentary salsas, and being a sauce lover I was immediately impressed. All colors and textures were represented. We didn't ask our waiter what was what, but two sauces in particular were extremely hot, so if you're sensitive to that, ask. I ordered a Pork Chile Verde, which in all honesty was a tad on the bland side. However, the meat was very tender, so I just loaded my tortilla with a different sauce every time and I was on the coche to Flavortown. The corn tortillas are hands down the best I've ever had, they're large, and you get four per order. My wife got the Chicken Flautas and unfortunately they looked and tasted like the bagged frozen variety from the grocery store. Others in our party got the beef fajitas which apparently were excellent, and a brave soul even got the goat, which he quite liked. We will definitely be back to get some tacos! read more

Really excellent. I just moved here from San Francisco and was missing good Mexican food for so long! This place is my only go to now, consistently good. I highly recommend them. read more

Try to dine in if you can! You need to try the free chips and salsa, its amazing the variety of sauces you get. The food is always good. I recommend the steak burrito with extra cilantro and onion! Prices are good, staff is nice. My only issues is that it could be a be cleaner. read more

Awesome burritos. An excellent mom and pop Mexican restaurant. If you're looking for classic, authentic Mexican food, this is the place.

The BEST authentic Mexican food I've had in Omaha!!! The tacos are amazingggggg and the salsa platter that comes out before your food is like no other. read more

Awesome and extremely reasonable. Lots of locals and locals usually know what it's all about. Excellent food! We were there on a Wednesday night and what do you know, it's $1.35 taco night and we aren't talking hamburger with a little seasoning. We had one of the best steak tacos we have ever had. The pork tacos were also amazing. Lots of meat in them and full of flavor. We ordered a sopes and it was excellent as well. We will be back and we may even drive all the way in on a Wednesday for $1.35 tacos from Fremont and still consider it a steal of a deal. read more

Good Mexican! My family is from Mexico and I know good Mexican food- and this is it. Menudo is great and tacos de pastor rock.

Super delicious all around with good service. The salsa platter was great and all of the tacos that we had were delicious!! If it wasn't across town, this would probably be a regular lunch spot for us. read more

A little concerned when we pulled up and it had bars on the Windows. Once inside, the place was packed! We called because we had a group of 6 adults and 5 kids. They had a table ready, a little slow to bring drinks, but it was packed inside. Food came quick, margaritas were excellent, fajitas (veggies) were perfectly cooked, kids quesadilla was fine, cantaloupe juice was yummy, husband had tongue, trip, and chorizo taco's which he said were simple but great - homemade tortillas (get the corn). Beer is served in a glass boot, kind of fun :) A little loud, but expected when every table around us was full! Great prices, would recommend a trip to this part of town for a great Mexican dinner! read more

We are serious Mexican food fans, and have our existing favorites, so the bar was set high. A previous review noted the all Spanish menus. They have both, so if you need it, ask for the gringo version. As best I could tell, everyone working there speaks perfect English so don't let that intimidate you. We had a random combination of sope, tostada, and tacos. Btw; they do serve beers and certain other adult drinks which we weren't sure about. The food was tasty, served quickly and hot and is very reasonable. Like others we really enjoyed the selection of salsas and chips to go with our meal. If you want to try someplace new and authentic you won't be disappointed. read more

Amazing authentic mexican food. Salsas were complimentary and my group all enjoyed. I had enchiladas, which is my standard order and cleaned my plate. Service was friendly too! You can tell good mexican food when the locals eat and hang to watch soccer game too. read more

Excellent food! It doesn't look like much on the outside (we almost drove away), but once we were inside and seated, we were so glad we stayed. It's basic furnishings but extremely friendly staff and such good food. Our food came quite quickly. The five salsa platter at the beginning is GREAT. Personally, I love being in these places where you hear hardly any English but feel so comfortable. read more

Torn between this place and La Casita. On the upside, they have larger tortillas, however the tortilla to meat ratio is a bit uneven. They do come out with your food much quicker though. At 10 cents higher than their local competitor La Casita, you'll find a better deal and a better meal there. My wife did enjoy their margaritas, so I guess there is still a chance we'll come back. read more

Local, unassuming Mexican restaurant near the highway. Nothing fancy looking about this little hole-in-the-wall place. Pros: Delicious food. Delicious food. Nothing has disappointed yet. Chilaquiles with steak. Tongue and tripe tacos. Tacos. Salsas. Inexpensive. Low key atmosphere. Spanish soap operas on TV. This place deserves way more than five stars. Cons: I can't think of any. Other: Sketch atmo? Not really. It's not bright and pretty, but I like that. And as everyone says, food speaks for itself. It took several visits to realize that you just walk up to the counter when you're ready to pay. I'm a dummy. read more

Everything we ordered was very bland. Even added loads of salt to give the food some flavor. Will not come back.

Delicious family-owned restaurant! Amazing fresh tortillas, tasty salsa tray. Family friendly, quick service.

I have to agree with Lauren M. The service was not great and the food was mediocre at best. I had the beef fajitas which probably would have been OK if the food was warm the owners claim to be from Texas but this is not Texas quality food, I should know, I live in San Antonio. The service was slow and there were only four other tables being occupied at the time. My bill with a tip came to $22.72. they provided a receipt for this amount but when I got my credit card statement, They charged my card $52.03. When I called to have this corrected, The owner said she would look into it but never called me back. I made another call to them. a young man took down my information and put me on hold. Upon returning, he said the owner claims she charged to correct amount. I explained that my credit card statement says otherwise. He said there was nothing he could do so I advised him I would have to file a claim with the credit card Fraud department to which he said he would try again and call me back. you probably guessed it. No call back. I filed the fraud claim... My name is Trujillo. I have lived and worked all over the southwest. I know good Mexican food. This place does not serve it. what I was served was worth about $8 not the $52 they charged my card. read more
