Hands-down the best grilled chicken that I've ever had. It's always so flavorful and moist. The sides are also delicious and let's not forget about their stand out salsa. Just the right amount of spice and it complements the chicken so well. I always opt for flour tortillas. Their prices are also great. They have wonderful lunch specials and family meals. The restaurant itself is pretty small. Parking is limited as well as seating. It doesn't appear to be the cleanest place and is quite outdated, but the food definitely makes me overlook that. The ladies working the register are always friendly and welcoming.

Always a line- they are that good!

Truly authentic & delicious; never have had anything less than cooked to perfection chicken and sides! Here are 2 downsides to be aware of: 1. Even if you order online and have a set pick up time, expect 10-15 longer to wait. 2. Never attempt to park in their parking lot, it's an accident waiting to happen and I've seen approximately 7 over the past few years! Otherwise, enjoy this most scrumptious restaurant you've ever tasted!

So worth the $10

This place is so good. It's amazing. I've eaten here before the chicken is so delicious. I got a single lunch, which is a leg and thigh with rice beans and tortillas with a drink. For under $10.. I love when I'm in Pasadena. I always stop by here.

When a restaurant does one thing and really hones in and masters their craft, the result speaks for itself. This place does chicken supremely well because that is all they do. The value of the meals is great. You can choose between quarter, half, or whole chicken with tortillas and sides. The chicken is very tasty and juicy, packed with flavor and perfectly made. The sides are also nice. There are some tables but they mainly do takeout. The staff are very friendly and treat you like family.

I ordered via Uber Eats and delivery was as quick. Also food was still pipin hot so that's a plus 8 piece combo - I'm a drumstick girlie and it was juicy and delish even the chicken breast!! Love this place and would come back here to dine in person again

Additional charges for things that used to be complementary. The filth it has become for not maintaining its cleanliness.

My husband and I have been coming to this restaurant for over 15 years because it used to have the best chicken anywhere. We would even drive 50 miles one way (100 miles round trip) just for it. Sadly, things have really gone downhill. The chicken pieces are much smaller, the restaurant itself was filthy (you can see from the pictures just walking up to it), and now they charge for everything--plates, to-go containers, ice, chili, and even an extra "internet charge" if you order online. I don't know if ownership has changed since I didn't see the same lady who used to run it, but it's clear the quality and care are gone. Greed will kill any business, and I'm not sure how long they'll last operating this way. Unfortunately, I can no longer recommend this place and won't be coming back.

I always see this restaurant on my drive to other chicken places and one day I decided to give it a chance. It seems to be family owned and I walked in to place an order to go. The service was great, fast, and you can smell and see the chicken grilling when ordering food. You can't beat the price! There are some parking spots in the front, but there are also some parking spaces in the back lot. It is a very small place, so you will see people waiting outside or standing by the door. However, you can tell that the food is fresh and the chicken was good. I would say it is a lower cost pollo loco.

I can't say enough great things on their world class staff, exceptional service, and amazing foods + drinks. This establishment brings it every day! My most recent visit was full of spicy and sweet surprises. The young gentleman behind the register was super friendly and helpful. He offered shake fries on the house so I can try them. Thank you! I forgot to order a drink. The young lady behind the counter said she got me covered. I got a bottled orange drink on the house. Thank you! Wow, now that's generous hospitality. I got 3 chicken wings that came with one toast and some pickles plus the shake fries. Wings were lightly fried with perfect crispness. Mild spice was still spicy, but manageable good spice. Bread was good, but it would have been nice if it was lightly toasted. Pickles were delightful. It was indeed one tasty lunch. Howlin' Ray's, you're the best! I'm coming back with full force for more deliciousness. I'll be howlin' all the way here.

The service i have mixed opinions. Most all of the employees are friendly. Maybe too friendly. Part of the reason for their long line would be the talkative cashiers. There is a way to chat up the customer while still keeping things moving along, but I've not seen it once while there; the chicken is that good that I put up with my least favorite thing at a restaurant--unnecessary conversation that adds to the wait time. The ambiance is also not my favorite. It's too loud in there. The music could be a touch lower--I'm there to eat, not be at the club--and the top notch cooks in the back yell a lot. I will say that the yelling appears to keep them upbeat, positive, and motivated; I see the value in it, yet it's the reason I get delicious chicken to go. They have a clean bathroom, a parking lot in back, and some of the best chicken in the Greater Los Angeles area. My mouth waters when I even begin to think about going there. Also, I believe the times to avoid the long waits would be weekdays until about 3 PM ish.

Tonight we decided to switch things up a little, and hubby ordered the bacon cheeseburger. Normally we prefer the quarter-pound patty, but this one was slightly thicker, which definitely made us feel full a lot quicker. That said, the burger was still super juicy, had the right filling-to-meat ratio, and came on that perfectly soft bun that holds everything together without falling apart. Solid choice. I stuck with my usual chicken breast salad, and it was delicious as always. Fresh, satisfying, and dependable -- although I'll admit I'm still not a fan of bell peppers, so those got politely pushed to the side. One thing I have noticed over time is that the fries seem to be getting a little smaller in portion each visit. I also miss the thicker-cut fries from about six months ago -- those were my favorite. The current ones still do the job, but the old style definitely had my heart. Overall, this is still a definite must-try spot if you're craving a good burger. I've heard these breakfast burritos are the go to if you want a breakfast burrito and that…read morestatement couldn't be more right. This is a burger joint with a diverse menu, including one of the biggest breakfast burritos in town. I got my burrito with bacon. The burrito comes with hashbrown style potatoes, eggs and cheese - you get a choice of ham, bacon or sausage for your meat (or have it without meat). The bacon was crispy and remained crispy when I reheated my other half. Not only is the bacon crispy, the burrito has a generous amount of it! Oh and the other plus - the tortilla does not come wet and soggy and remains in perfect condition if you have leftovers. The burrito comes with only one salsa and to be honest, you really do need two for such a big burrito. I'm a green salsa girl but I asked what I should go with and I was recommended the red one (the green one is supposedly spicier). The red salsa did not disappoint other than I needed one more for my whole burrito (there's no kick to this salsa but it's tasty). The burrito itself isn't bursting with flavor on its own and it requires the salsa to compliment the other ingredients. But, who eats a breakfast burrito without salsa? There is ample parking in their parking lot and there's seating both inside and outside. I will definitely be returning to satisfy my breakfast burrito craving very soon and if this is what you're looking for - stop reading reviews and go get you one at Lucky Boy (it's served all day).

I always start off my ratings with cleanliness. I worked in a high volume restaurant back in the 70's. If you weren't doing something you were cleaning. Ordered the classic burger, fries and coke. Picked up my order after a short wait. Cleaned off my own table and sat down. Burger looked decent, fries looked amazing and can never say anything bad about a classic coke. First bite of the burger was a little disappointing. Burger was thin and seemed overcooked to me. I thought it was dry. Roll, lettuce, tomato, onion and mayo were ok. Not bad overall but for some reason I expected a better burger experience. Let's talk about the fries. Truly classic French fried potatoes. Perfectly cooked. Light golden color. Nice texture and flavor. What every French fry should look and taste like. Coke was great. Sorry to say I was not impressed by the burger. This was my experience on 05/09/2026. Could have been cleaner and maybe the burger not overcooked. Your experience may be totally different.

It was always a real treat. As a teenager I dated a couple of the girls that worked there so I was there on the regular in those days. In my 20's I lived right up the street and hit them up quite often. I don't get there as much as I'd like nowadays but when I do, it is always consistently great. Times have definitely changed but Connal's quality food and super customer service has not! I am a huge Combination Grinder fan and have not ordered anything different for well over 30 years. They are always stacked with lots of high quality cold cuts and delicious Provolone, crisp shredded Lettuce, thin sliced Onions and Vinegar and Oil on a delicious French Roll. In my teens and 20's I did try many samplings on their vast menu and as memory serves, everything was always delicious. Today's Grinder absolutely hit the spot! It had been a while since I last tasted one but the Combo Grinder most definitely never disappoints. I went for it, and got Zings (Zucchini Sticks and Onion Rings). But the crown jewel of the meal, as it has always been, is the fried zucchini. I have never found better fried zucchini, and trust me, I've been trying for years. Service at the window was just as friendly as I remembered, and we grabbed a spot tucked under the patio instead of staying inside--perfect for people-watching as folks came and went. There's something really special about being welcomed back by a place that tastes exactly like you remember. Connal's still delivers.
