I come here about twice a week on average. I love the margaritas. They have recently revamped their food with the quality and presentation have been spot on the last several visits. But tonight they were totally lacking. Presentation and quality. When the waitress came over and asked us how everything was I told her they have a new chef in the kitchen because this was not the same quality that I have gotten recently. She told me no they did not have a new chef. I had the chimichanga and there was hardly any grilled chicken in it at all. Also a chimichanga is fried and it was soggy and not crisp. My waitress only said that they did not have a chef. She did not say she was sorry or asked if I wanted to speak with anyone. Her parting words were was thank you for coming have a nice night. Disgusting is the only word I can think of to describe the food. We ordered through Waitr & nothing look or tasted fresh. The entree' I ordered was supposed to come with a cheese sauce but all I received was fried dough with chunks of dry chicken with no flavor. My husband said his wasn't any better & thought his actually tasted bad (like old meat). This is another chain restaurant. Wife and I were curious about what replaced the Macaroni Grill and they re-used the "grill" sign! Wife enjoyed her grilled shrimp burrito but my tamale plate was awful. Okay aside from the fact that "authentic" tamales should come in corn husk wrappers, tamales are supposed to be moist not dry!!! The ground beef should ground and not paste! If we could only bring back Manuel's Tamales from the corner sellers with their big pots of hot steaming REAL tamales. If you can't get the almost universally basic Mexican foodstuff correct, I don't think that there is much hope for the rest of your menu. read more

This is the first time I have ever taken the time to do this. The food here was average and the service was horrible. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME COMING HERE. My avocado salad had processed grilled chicken and they didn't even drain the lettuce. We waited an hour for salads . After making the waitress aware, she stated it was her third day here. This place is poorly run and will probably end up making someone sick. NEVER AGAIN. Never even saw a manager. AWFUL!!!! read more

Not that good and overpriced. I'm not a picky person at all but was disappointed enough that I had to write a review. The chips had the strangest after taste. The food was not that great and the margaritas seemed watered down. The guy that brought our food out was apparently in a huge hurry. He was yelling in Spanish so we had no,idea what he was saying. He spilled guacamole all over my husband and never even offered a napkin or an apology, gave my daughter two entrees and me no plate at all. Our waitress was very sweet and accommodating. read more

First visit to this location, certainly not our last. Our waiter, Leo, was awesome. You have to love when the staff seem to actually enjoy talking with customers. If the server can make you smile, they have already gone above and beyond. Food was on Par with the other El Paso locations we have visited, it was great. I was not totally thrilled after my first visit (shortly after opening) and this evening was a fantastic experience on every level. The drinks and service were always good but the food was really good and authentic this time. This from a person who lived in San Antonio where you can eat some of the best Mexican food in the world. When this restaurant first opened in Mandeville i thought it was the best in the area, but a new manager seems to have taken over and it has gone downhill fast. The fajitas are still good, but sometimes stingy on the meats. Their El Paso plate should be avoided at all costs. The beef on the taco and tostada is about as good as Taco Bell, which means its really just greasy mealy filler. I wish they could get the idea that for these prices customers expect real shredded beef or a least real ground beef. I'll still go there for the fajita specials but really wish the management would check out the quality problems. read more

So first off I love Mexican food and my wife is never excited for it but she is a real fan of chips and salsa so they gotta be good. The salsa here tastes sweet and lacks flavor. It'll be awhile before I can talk into Mexican food again. I got sad looking enchiladas with again a sweet flavored sauce. My wife had carnitas. They forgot to bring her the tortillas that come with it. The flavor was not bad but she had to pick through a lot of fatty bits in it. Service sucked. My water was not refilled once and I needed a drink to wash away the overly sweet food I was trying to eat. She seemed to be annoyed that she was at work. This was definitely the one and only time I'll eat here. read more

Not great quality of food. I've tried it a few times and every time my food is greasy and sloppy. Also, they tried to stiff me on my change back! I had to speak with the manager and didn't leave till I got the correct change. The person that handled my order said she didn't give me change because sometimes they don't have change!! Like What? Went to lunch with my family, food was fine. Service and customer service AWFUL! The waiter rang up another tables bill on my card, instead of coming to tell me what he did prior to ringing up my bill, he charged my card a second time with my bill. He then came over and told me what he had done and told me he voided out the first charge. I explained that I would still be out of those funds in my account for several days, he did not seem to care. When I asked for a manager, she reacted in the same manner. Where is the customer service? No offer to discount my meal. I think my biggest issue was if they would have told me when they first made the mistake, we could have just charged my card the difference. Poor customer service. I will not be back. read more

I wish I could rate things different ways. The foods great, the service not so much. Janet, a waitress we had, was completely and utterly rude. Completely ruined the experience. She was given a very clear order, got it wrong, not a big deal. But instead of just apologizing and fixing it, she proceeded to take her notepad out from her apron and tell us that we were wrong and what we told her was wrong. She continued this for several minutes. I was astonished. I've never had a server take out their notepad and tell me I'm wrong with the worst ghetto attitude I've ever experienced. She then grabbed what I assume was a manager, not only to confront us, but to completely take over the table. The managers attitude was equally rude. Instead of apologizing she justified her waitress' behavior and was condescending. She was reading back the order very slow, like we were idiots. She didn't hold her waitress accountable, she enabled the behavior and even took over our table while Janet was allowed to pout and not finish her job serving us. Unbelievable. The night before we had Jocelyn, a wonderful and kind server. She deserves 5 stars. Wish this place had better, more professional people because the food is amazing. read more

Very consistent. Bad service, bad food. They charge you for every condiment ( guacamole, sour cream, etc) unless you upgrade to a larger ( and more $$) menu item. Rather go to Taco Bell. read more

Love love love this place... they did a great job converting the building, always plenty of parking and seating no matter how busy! It's your basic Mexican food, good flavor and better prices, and the location is great. If you're looking for this type of meal in Mandeville don't fall for the hype you'll "C" over subpar restaurants- unless you want to go across the lake this is definitely your best bet since we lost La Casa Gomez years ago. read more

We are always looking for a new place to eat on the Northshore and I've always been a fan of the El Paso in Alexandria, LA but this location is no where close in quality. Our food arrived within five minutes....I totally understand that most Mexican dishes are warmed quickly in convection and microwave ovens but five minutes????? The food was mushy....nothing was crispy and everything tasted the same! The shells on the chimichanga and the quesadilla were like stiff wet paper towels. A member of our party ordered a chile releno and it was litterally the size of a baby gerkin and was hardly recognizable in the sea of beans that it was drowned in!!! You would think with 15-20 Mexican Resturants to chose from, the competition on the Northshore would be stiff with resturants trying to one-up each other.....this location of El Paso is a "No Go"!!!! read more

I've had some really good meals here but was there last night and it was terrible. We were seated quickly but after 10 minutes I had to get up and ask for a waitress. My friend and I both ordered steak fajitas. They must have e cooked them together and gave me a plate full of onions and her a plate full of meat. I left hungry, annoyed and out $25 dollars. Usually is our go to place for Mexican but just picked up an to go order and I don't have anything good to say about it. They did not put the large queso (that was paid for), wrong sauce (which luckily I noticed before I left), and everything is soggy. I also asked for an extra order of chips...did not get that either. Nor did I get the bean dip. VERY disappointed. When I called to be reimbursed for at least the queso because I live 30 minutes away and I'm not driving back, I was told that next time they would just give me a free one....super upset with the order and costumer service read more

The first time I came here I really liked it! There was a band playing that would come to each table and on a crowded Friday night we still got seated and our food at a decent time! The second time I came here I did not have the same experience. I ordered the chicken enchiladas with tortilla soup. The enchiladas were great but the soup was terrible. My other family members ordered food with beef in it. Before they could even reach home they all got sick to their stomachs and threw up their meals. Pretty awful, re used chips with sugar packet stuck to previously warm chip, young kids with no care of service or quality of your experience. The interior is already worn down and dirty. Lago's, Mamacitas and Carretas are much better Mexican Restaurants . Also chicken wasn't even flavored in any stock or seasoning it looked straight out the can still in chunks. Ate here once and had never had smoke sausage in fajitas. Service was just ok. Just a slight notch over a certain fast food restaurant that serves Mexican type food. Pass there often and the place seems to do some business so decided to try it again. Ok don't have to try it again . Can't figure it out . It's not good . Frozen food dishes at high prices. We've been on the hunt for good Mexican food since moving to the area from Arizona. Welp, this isn't it. The salsa was awful, super sweet. I thought it tasted like Ragu pasta sauce. My son said it tasted like cold tomato soup. The ground beef nachos were bland and pitiful. The enchiladas were smothered in another sugary gross sauce. The carnitas were okay at best, lacking flavor and very fatty but were probably the best thing on our table. Our servers personality was as bland as the food. We had to ask for drink refills and when she brought the bill she stood over my husband awkwardly waiting for him to pay even though we were still eating. Go away, girl, we will pay when we're ready! The place was pretty dead on a Saturday night, which makes sense cause it's awful. Let the hunt for legit Mexican food continue! read more
