I swear I find the coolest places. What can I say?... it's a gift! This small Venezuelan restaurant is one for the books! I wanted to pick up dinner since the weather has been crappy lately. I was just about to order an arepa but I had to go for something I have never heard of before to see what it was all about... The chicken Pepito it was!!! There was another option for the mixed Pepito.. sounded good but had a yen for chicken. I also ordered their Pabellon empanada.. WOW!! Crispy and warm on the outside.. hot and fresh on the inside. The flavors were amazing as well. The cream sauce that they give you on the side gives it that extra kick. A negative about the pepito is (and I can't believe om saying this) there was way too much Mayo and cream sauce on the sandwich. This is an excellent small restaurant. You can eat in or take it to go. I am not very familiar with Venezuela food. I asked the nice young lady about the menu. My son has gone there a week earlier and raved about the patacon. I ordered it with sweet plantain and no ham. I sat in and ate it. I should have gone home because it was sooo good that I was talking to myself. The flavors that ran through it was something to talk about. The sauce was sweet but flavorful, the cheese was soulful and brought the sandwich out. And the plantain, which can be ordered sweet or not were perfect. On top of all the the cost was reasonable for lunch. If it wasn't that it was sooo good, I would say you could share. The young lady laughed when I told her how awesome it was. The one-star review is for service. I called to place an order to go and was asked if I could hold for three minutes. A little surprised by the amount of time I was asked to hold, I agreed. I was actually able to drive there in three minutes as I was already enroute, but sat in my car for an additional seven minutes, waiting to see how long it would take someone to pick up the phone and take my order. They didn't even put me on hold. They must have put the receiver on the counter as I could hear everything. After holding for 10 minutes, I hung up and left. I frequently visit the nail salon next door and decided to look up their menu online and they have one of my top 5 favorite foods. Arepas!!! I came here with one mission and failed lol. Upon walking in it smelled like sewer, but it still looked clean so I proceeded to order. I got a Patacon. I'd never heard or had one before. It's pretty much a sandwich but they used smashed ripe plantains and fried them, then used them as the bread. I chose the chicken patacon which also had ham. I dined at home but it was still hot by the time I got there. It was so good and sloppy just like a sandwich should be. There was so much in it that I couldn't pick it up and bite. This is not a complaint. I just grabbed a knife and fork to ensure that I got a little of everything with each bite. Next time I'll try really hard to get the Arepas. This was a pretty good burger. It takes forever to come out though (almost a full 30 min). I tried the El Kourmet signature burger. As other reviewers have mentioned, the meat does have a different texture than I was used to, but I didn't mind it. I had about 70% of the burger which was pretty large (at least 1/4-1/3 lb probably?) the first night. On that night I was starving (and the 30 min wait definitely got to me) but I thoroughly enjoyed it. I liked the sauce which reminded me of a cleaned up "animal style" sauce comparable to In and Out Burgers. The cheese was like the quesadilla white cheese and I honestly didnt mind the ham slice-felt like it didnt add much but it didnt detract anything either. The second night I ate the rest of the burger as a prelude/app before my actual dinner (shrug-dont judge) and it was just OK. Of course this was the second night. Anyway worth a shot. Hubby tried the El Kourmet hot dog, and he thought it was just OK-he likes Five Guys version better. Plus: food truck service was super nice. read more

I live 45 min from their location, and I made an order for pick up. I ordered a beef fajita patacón and paid for an extra queso de mano. I picked up my order and this happened: 1. It was not what I ordered. I received a weird chicken party instead a beef fajita 2. The lettuce and tomate in the patacón were old and brown 3. There was NOT extra queso de mano that I PAID EXTRA I decided to contacted the place to let them know about the issue and what the person on the phone told me was that the manager had told him to only reimburse me the extra queso de mano that they never included on my order. Frustrated, I expressed the person on the phone WHY should I pay for something that you do not wanted to buy? Also, I'm pregnant and they put on my not cheap patacón decomposed vegetables that can affect me and my baby. Additionally, I told him we just want to support local businesses, and I mentioned him about a very bad and disgusting experience that I had several weeks ago when I found hair on my empanada that the same place and location in Fry. Good food, poor service... I had order a cachapa with cheese and meat for takeout over the phone. I go pick it up; and when I arrive home I realize they have give me a cachapa with just cheese (not a big deal, but I was disappointed) I decide to give them a call and let them know. (I assumed it wouldn't be a big deal to make this right...I live about 5-7mins away from them, I'm not bothered about having to go and pickup another one) SOoo the lady that took my order is the one that answered the phone. Her idea for making the right was..next time I order a cachapa to order it w/o cheese and remind them that they owe me meat for free...so basically I have to buy another cachapa to make this right......and her attitude was just horrible and not wanting to make things right to me (the customer). At this point I am no longer upset by the "missing meat" but of her attitude. She wanted me to go back with the cachapa so the could just add the meat...I insisted that I wanted a new warm one with meat. She said she could not do that (her manager nor the owner where present) and sh can not make that call...by just giving me a new without charge; that would cause there "cachapa inventor" to be off and she would get in trouble by the owner...I told her that the owner would probably prefer to lose a cachapa over losing a good reputation... after the back and forth she finally said "FINE, but I am going to get in trouble"!! I go pick up the cachapa with meat and return the one with out meat....she didn't want to show her face..not even an apology. I really enjoy the food here and it's nice that it's so close to home. I would really hate to see this place go just because of poor customer service! After reading other reviews this seems to be a common problem! My friends are annoyed with me. For the last hour I have been sending them text messages about how they need to drop what they are doing and try this place out!! I had the Kourmet burger (minus the egg) and it was one of the BEST burgers I have had in a long time....and then there are the fries. The Kourmet Fries.....are covered in bacon and this sauce that is so amazing that I want to replace my blood with it! Couldn't finish it all, but God I tried!
