Wasn't really impressed with this place. Got the California burrito and the taste was bland.

The moment you step inside, the noise outside fades into something warmer -- replaced by the hum of conversation, bursts of laughter, and the comforting rhythm of a place full of life. The room buzzes with stories from long days, friends catching up over coffee, and the familiar clatter of plates and silverware. From the kitchen comes the constant symphony of sizzling grills, clanging pans, and ice tumbling into glasses, all blending together into the kind of atmosphere that feels alive rather than loud. It's the sound of comfort. And then there's the smell -- sweet maple syrup drifting through the air, butter melting slowly over stacks of golden flapjacks, fresh coffee brewing somewhere nearby. Every detail makes the diner feel less like a restaurant and more like a memory you didn't realize you missed. It's cozy, genuine, and full of warmth -- the kind of place that makes you want to stay a little longer after the meal is over.

Their customer service is amazing. Our waitress knew customer's name like they have been friends forever. Reasonable prices for the meal. I had their Abel's breakfast and it was better than average and it came out fast too. From the time we put our name on the waiting list till the time I had my meal was about 30 minutes. Not bad. It was pretty packed inside and had a country home feel with their decor. So if you're looking for a quick, decent meal that won't hurt the wallet. Look for this corner diner in the shopping center in Schertz.

The building is easy to find, situated next to Randolph Dental and across the street from Take 5 Oil Change. Parking is straightforward. The restaurant shares an outdoor lot with several neighboring businesses, and there was plenty of parking directly in front, including clearly marked handicapped spaces, plus an additional row across from the restaurant. Inside, the space is open, comfortable, and very clean. The interior seating is well maintained, and staff were consistently attentive to keeping the dining area tidy throughout the visit. The setup feels relaxed and inviting, and it is also nice to see that outdoor seating is available if you prefer fresh air. The food was excellent. I ordered the veggie omelette with added avocado and turkey, which was savory and well balanced. The hash browns were well seasoned with a good pepper profile, and the white chocolate latte stood out in particular. It did not have the artificial syrup aftertaste that is common at many places, which made it especially enjoyable. Service is what truly made the visit stand out. Jacqueline was friendly, attentive, and helpful from start to finish. She checked in at the right moments, answered questions without rushing, and kept everything running smoothly. As a thoughtful bonus, I was also given an extra pastry, which was a pleasant surprise and a great example of genuine hospitality. If you are looking for a casual breakfast or coffee spot with a clean environment, quality food, and staff who clearly care about the customer experience, Biscuit House is well worth a visit. Keep up the great work, Jacqueline and Biscuit House Schertz.

Today, it was brunch with my big brother at The Brunch Spot in Converse, TX (suburb of San Antonio), and it absolutely lived up to its name. I ordered the avocado toast and my brother ordered the French toast served with eggs and bacon. Their slogan is "we're serving up sunshine". Love that! Who don't need a little sunshine? Everything was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully prepared. The avocado toast was simple...creamy avocado spread generously over hearty toast, seasoned perfectly and topped with a fresh egg whites that tied it all together. It was filling without being too heavy and tasted even better than it looked. The French toast was the real delight. The bread was thick, soft on the inside, and lightly crisp on the outside, with just the right amount of sweetness. Paired with well cooked eggs and crispy, savory bacon, it struck that perfect balance between sweet and savory that makes a brunch memorable. Beyond the food, the atmosphere was warm and welcoming. Na, short for Ajanay, was friendly and attentive. The Brunch Spot is definitely a great choice if you're looking for a satisfying, comfort style brunch.

So everyone should find something they will like. As we walked in, we were greeted by Freddy. We told him it was our first time, and he politely went through the menu which is up on the wall. I love when you can watch the chefs make your food. The crepes are being made right up front. Takes skill to thin out the batter into a round circle without the batter running over the edge. The chef made it look effortless. After we placed our order. We got a number to bring to our table. After a short moment, Freddy brought our food over to us. My maple pecan waffle smelled like Texas heaven. And that scoop of gelato on top, was wonderful. I was inducted in the clean plate club this breakfast. If I ever come back to this area, I will for sure eat here again.

Hometown Eats. What an exquisite little eatery/bakery! So happy to have found this place, which has…read morebeen under my nose for the past year apparently. Small, but comfortable place that has a few tables inside and out. Sell coffee and baked goods but also has a nice little breakfast/brunch menu. The owners ran the place and really seemed "happy" to see us, took time to walk us through the menu, offer suggestions, etc. just extremely "comfortable" place to be from the moment we walked through the door. My wife and I always pick two entrees and share. We went with the breakfast sandwich and the biscuits and gravy and we were not disappointed. The house made brioche bun for the sandwich and the biscuits were out-of-this-world delicious. Based on that, I would wager that the other baked goods they had displayed (scones, cinnamon rolls, etc) would have been wonderful! (I'll be back soon to confirm this) Back to the food...the sandwich was very good- egg was perfectly "over hard" and high quality cheese and bacon. The maple-chipotle mayo absolutely made the bite. Next time I will ask for extra, maybe slathered on both halves of the bun. The flavor of that mayo was unlike anything I've tasted- thoroughly enjoyed it and it complimented the overall flavor of the sandwich so well. Delicious!!! As already mentioned the biscuits were outstanding...which is not something that I say lightly. While I will always try biscuits and gravy, I am usually disappointed and it is typically because of biscuits that are too dense and too dry. These were neither- they were incredible and I'm not sure what gave them the touch of "sweet" but that little touch took the flavor of the biscuit over the top for me. Finally, the gravy was perfect from the amount of sausage to the elegant "sage-iness" of the bite. With respect to the quantity of gravy, it is not uncommon for places to not give enough gravy. The ratio of gravy to biscuit must be difficult to master, well they've done it at Northern D'Lights!! Just incredible experience and we will be back, on the regular! Give this place a go...great place!

The good: The beer selection was solid, and the cucumber margarita was genuinely delicious. The not-so-good: * Wedge Salad: The salad itself was fine, but the highlight--bacon--was extremely sparse. Six tiny squares were placed on the edge of the plate, which felt oddly rationed and not nearly enough to enjoy throughout the salad. * Mussels: This was the most concerning dish. We expected mussels in a white wine and garlic sauce, but instead received them in a buttery yellow-orange sauce with a very unpleasant odor. The smell was not "fishy" but something far more off-putting--honestly resembling manure. I've worked in the restaurant industry for years and don't send food back lightly, but this was not normal. The server said the smell was typical, suggesting vinegar may have made it "pungent." Ultimately, the manager told us we still needed to pay for the dish, which we did without argument, though the experience was disappointing. * Shrimp Appetizer: It was fine, but nothing memorable or worth raving about. * Burger: The patty was overcooked, the bun was dry, and the fries ended up being the best part--crispy and greasy. Overall, we were hoping for a much better experience. While the drinks were enjoyable, the food quality and response to legitimate concerns left a lot to be desired.

I easily counted at least 10 flies that we were having to swat away from our food, we were seated inside. S&P on the table was needed and should have been provided without asking. Cornbread should have been offered complimentary. We ordered the cornbread but did not finish it as it had an off taste and some cross contamination in the butter dish. Grilled Shrimp skewer was overcooked and unexpectedly had something like chili powder. Roasted vegetables were bland and needed some seasoning or at least salt. Husband enjoyed the pork chops but side of fries were lacking in crispness and flavor. Pork chops increased the review from one star to two. I had hopes for the bread pudding and it did have good flavor BUT was lacking the key ingredient of rum, burboun, or whiskey.
