This restaurant is located in what looks like an older home. And that might be abuela's because the dishes here are what I imagine she would cook if she was still here. The chips and salsa were really cool and they also brought out a cabbage and jalapeño salsa that was amazing and unique. The bean dip was fire too and got the appetite going. I browsed the menu and seen the Chicken Molé Poblano. I love trying molé and when I seen El Jardin's had won an award I couldnt pass it up. I was here with a large party after a water polo tournament for my son. So service was a bit slow but the server did her best refilling drinks and chips. When the food did come out it was hot and looked delicious. The molé was phenomenal! I can see why it won an award as it was the best molé I've ever had to this point in my young life. I brought may family and friends here last night for a special occasion and was sooooo disappointed with the entire experience. Staff was slow and infrequent. The food was late and cold. As usual everything was great until a woman was seated close to us with her dog. Not a service dog, a lap dog. She at first put him in a chair and then onto her lap where she proceeded to feed him from her plate. Manteca is a very nice restaurant usually with a wait to get a booth or table. Turlock lacks the "nice" in restaurant, but the food is very good. One of my favorite restaurants in Turlock they have amazing Mexican food. I love getting their enchiladas and tostadas. It is decorated nicely with authentic Latin colors and designs. You can sit indoors or outdoors, and they are able to host larger parties as well . The service is always quick and great here. I would recommend if you are in the area! read more

The food is always great. I find myself craving the rice and beans often. Their tortillas are good and they cook their meat perfectly every time. The service however? Horrible. It's always a terrible experience. They're slow, inattentive, uninformed, and just seem genuinely displeased to have to interact with customers. I understand being busy, but they very rarely are? And they always seem to have a million people working, but they kind of just linger by the host station talking amongst themselves. Some of the girls are so nice and amazing waitresses, but if you don't have the pleasure of being served by one of them then you end up with some of the most unpleasant people in the world. They never check in on you, they don't refill drinks or chips, and they're kind of very whatever. Like I said though, food is amazing every time and if you don't mind sitting and being ignored for thirty minutes then this is the place for you. Reservations, no matter the size, are almost impossible to make, and it's not because they're ever booked. Poor service/poor attitude from waitstaff After waiting for over 30 minutes to order and other tables, who arrived after us ordering their meals, we had to go ask for our waiter/waitress to come take our order. Several workers were sitting at the bar chit chatting. I ordered a Cosmopolitan and the hostess didn't know what it was or what I was asking for. She had the waiter come over to our table. As we were leaving, we were parked on the street near the bar area. As I was getting in my car, I heard the staff talking about the drink I had ordered, calling it something I will not add to my post but will say staff should know better than to make a rude comment on what a patron orders. The food was delicious. I had the steak a la Mexicana with beans and rice. The glass of beer was nice and cold. My wife had the tamale. She is picky and loved it. We've been in the Turlock area for about eight years and I would say this is the best dine in Mexican food by far. Good service, didn't have to wait long. The location is convient to down town. The food is OUTSTANDING! Areas for improvement: Parking is diffacult. Very short staffed as we had to wait over 15 min to be seated while the restaurant was only 25% full at most. After being seated 10 more min to get a basic soda. But they did bring chips. My family and I enjoy dining at El Jardin, especially on the patio when the weather is lovely. Unfortunately with all of the business closures due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we have not been able to dine out like we would prefer, but we definitely want to follow the shelter in place rules. So, we decided to order dinner from El Jardin for our weekly take out meal to support our local restaurants. Are we ever glad we did! I have to say, our meal was the best I've ever had from El Jardin. I usually order either the chicken fajitas or the chicken burrito supreme. I decided to try something different and selected the chicken tacos as part of the combination plate. My husband selected the tamale and chicken enchilada combination plate. Our meals included chips and salsa. The salsa was so good! It had a slight smoky flavor which was amazing and the chips were perfectly crunchy and not at all greasy. My tacos had the most delicious and tender shredded chicken. My husband raved about his tamale and enchilada. Everything was so yummy and still hot when we ate our meal at home. Even though we weren't able to dine al fresco on their cute patio, I am so happy we got to enjoy a delicious meal from El Jardin! read more

The food was awesome! Tequila chicken and Posole was soooo yummy!! The meat was very tender. The ONLY reason I deducted 1 star due to a few of the staff members were more task orientated then paying attention to customer service. Just so happened when we were coming in they were setting up for a large party two of the staff members just rushed by us with a table without acknowledging us which left us a bit confused about where or what we were supposed to do. Do we wait? Do we just sit? Inside is an old home and very small. There is a hostess or desk in the middle of the first room but it was unmanned at this point and staff was rushing around too busy to say, "hey, we'll be right with you. Just wait right here." We felt like we walked into the wrong door and just stumbled around for a few minutes before we were acknowledged. Most seemed like young high schoolers. This definitely won't keep me away and hopefully it's just a one time thing. Just felt like they could use a leader. Our server was great! Margarita was great. They have a huge tequila selection!
