Ordered take out. For four it was about $70, so on the pricy side for take out Mexican food. That being said everything was tasty. Tried a torta for the first time. I liked that you have the option of a salad instead of rice and beans. Salad was good size. Also other entrees were also good size, fresh, and tasty. Super cool layout of the patio it's inviting and very chill perfectly matched with the name of the restaurant. Their drink menu looked good sadly since it was noon, I was driving and crazy far from my house but seems like a perfect date night spot for locals. I have been going to El jardin for over 10 years, yesterday we decided to go there for lunch ,for over 10 years we have had great service and great food, but yesterday was an exception, the food was terrible!, I ordered the La Compuesta with steak....linda ordered taquitos, with side salad...the taquitos were so over cooked you couldn't eat them, my La compuesta with steak was very cold, hardly had any steak. Every time my family has been there we always have to go searching for our waiter or waitress to take our drink order and then again off to fetch them for food order. We're always waiting and it's not just us. So many customers just sitting there. Takes forever if we need refills often after going to search a waiter. Don't ask for condiments because they won't bring them. Then another waiting game for them to come back with our check. Probably one of my favorite places to eat in Turlock. It is also my mom's favorite place in Turlock and she has been coming here ever since she was a student at CSU Stanislaus! It is situated in downtown Turlock with a small parking lot in the back. The restaurant is essentially former homes that were converted into a restaurant; providing both indoor and outdoor seating. Definitely recommend sitting outdoors on a nice day. When you sit down, they bring you chips, salsa, and pickled items to enjoy while you wait. I got the chimichanga supreme last time and it was drenched in just guac, sour cream, lettuce, beans, sauce, etc. I got it with pork and the meat was well cooked and seasoned. The only negative thing I can think of is that I can never finish it!! (If you even consider that a bad thing). Our "go to" Mexican restaurant on Turlock. Great salsa and chips. Chopped cabbage too, and always a few flour tortilla chips. Fresh ingredients are evident in the dishes. Combo plates served with ample rice and beans, always presented nicely with a sprig of parsley and and orange slice. Service is usually very attentive. We love to dine outdoors on a nice evening. One of the few Turlock restaurants open on Sundays, so perfect for after Sunday evening mass. Prices are VERY reasonable! Good, clean, reliable, fresh and pleasant. We really enjoy the atmosphere at El Jardin. The food is good and my favorite dish is the sope. This time we ordered a quesadilla supreme and a grande burrito (a la carte). I added the left over salsa from our chips to the burrito. Service is always friendly and we were seated in the garden house/side house. So sort of outdoor seating but enclosed. The only bummer is when you eat there or outside you have to shoo flies away. The bartender was awesome and put on the baseball game for us upon request. I order the lunch special Burrito supreme with chicken. I thought it was okay I have had better. Inside the burrito there was only refried beans, rice and chicken. I thought it was going to be a wet burrito when it came out. No salsa on the burrito, only on top was a smidge of guacamole and a smidge of sour cream. Chicken was very dry that I almost choked on it, to be honest, good thing I had water. It is an expensive restaurant so expect to pay a lil more. Beans were good and rice was good too.
