This restaurant was amazing! It starts with how welcoming and helpful the staff is. Then the food. Oh my goodness! They were perfectly busy showing this was the spot to be but still places to sit and eat. The restaurant was clean, with the employees constantly checking on guests and cleaning up as one left. I had a sampler like platter. That gave me 5 different items-pupusa, Gordita, chili relleno, taco plancha, and taco lloraras. I was full after the first three. I have a snack for later with the other two. If you are looking for local food, this place is it. Next time I fly down I will have to come here again.

This place was bomb. Great prices and very authentic and flavorful food. Their homemade sauces were excellent. We enjoyed the chilaquiles, pupusas, and the cucumber agua Fresca. Portions felt generous too, highly recommend. Definitely gets crowded during peak times though so be prepared to wait for a table

Had a chance to go out and try this place finally. I ordered the Gallito which consisted of 2 eggs to your liking chilaquiles in red or green salsa 2 strips of bacon and 2pancakes. The portion size was just right for me not to much and not too little. The flavor of the chilaquiles was very good and they were nice and crunchy. The eggs were cooked perfectly and the pancakes were also very good. I would definitely come back again to try other things on 5he menu.

PUPUSAS CALDO TLALPEÑO FILLED WITH FRESH VEGETABLES, LOADS OF SHREDDED CHICKEN AND CHEESE ACCOMPANIED WITH HOMEMADE CORN TORTILLAS!

Definitely a hidden gem. Craving "REAL" Mexican food, decided to drive to the Pharr location and it was worth it. It's a very different concept for the Valley but the formula works. The menu is not huge but diverse enough to want one of each. My spouse chose the Caldo Tlalpeño with HOMEMADE corn tortillas (yes, it's over 100F but well worth it) and a Gordita. I chose 3 pupusas and they were huge. To drink I had their Lemonade with Cucumber and it was deliciously sweet. Food and drinks came to $38 or so and then the tip. The service was impeccable, everyone was very friendly and helpful. I thought it was well worth it. The fillings on my pupusas were amazing and delicious. Best part?? NOT ONE ITEM WAS DRIPPING IN GREASE! How great is that?? Very clean establishment as well, I hope they stick around for a long time, I will be going back soon.

First of all, let me tell you about those Chilaquiles, They are Huge!! If you don't eat much you can share ir with another person, They come with frijoles, Chicharron, Chicken, and eggs. You can style them too if you don't want too much stuff on it, They enchiladas are good but couldn't see them because of too many potatoes they put on top, That doesn't bother me at all, I love potatoes! They don't have servers you just go and order your food and then take a seat. They bring your food to you and thats about it, The staff are really friendly and nice and if you have any questions about your food they don't hesitate to help you. I got captivated by the walls there, You can Write on them!!!! Soo if you are planning to come don't forget your sharpie!! We will be coming back for sure!

While I was at the location in McAllen I was unable to find their yelp. The service was fast and the girls who took our order were very friendly. The restaurant was clean and it wasn't too busy when we got there so there was plenty of options for us to choose to sit at. I give my total experience a 4, but I rate my food a 3.5. I got the chilaquiles plate with chicarron prensado en salsa verde but I wasn't a fan of the salsa. The taste was too bitter and lacked spiciness for my personal liking. The chicarron was cooked well and had a nice texture and the beans were yummy too. I liked that the chilaquiles had plenty of cheese and crema! I definitely want to go back and try the chilaquiles in red salsa though, I'm hoping I'd like it better than the green salsa.

The best chilaquiles I had while I spent three weeks in McAllen. I'm a chilaquiles lover, so I have a reference point. The ladies behind the counter were very friendly as well. The coffee is made with cinnamon and sugar already mixed in (panela), so if you don't like that, be prepared. They have two locations, but I went to the one in north McAllen both times.

First time visiting this area and we chose a great spot to have breakfast. We tried the chilaquiles plate and it was delicious. The salsas they have are actually spicy We also tried cafe de olla and enjoyed it. Staff is friendly and kept checking in to make sure we didn't need anything. Where should I start. I guess the beginning is a good place. I walked into this establishment and was immediately greeted by two very nice ladies. This was my first time here and they could clearly tell. I had already looked at the menu before hand and had my eyes set on getting the Atacate plate, which the lady behind the counter said that would offer the best taste of most of the menu. And boy it did not disappoint. The crunchy/soft taco was flavorful and that avocado making its special guest appearances was just icing on the cake. There was another taco that had what seemed to be a Chile relleno inside of it. The Gordita was great, but the pupusa my goodness was perfect! Their sauces that are served up with the dishes only increase the experience and the spice. The green sauce was good, orange sauce was better. Combined was like a "fusion HA" from Dragonball Z. If I'm ever in the area again, I will be back to try more on their menu. This is a all day banger for me!

Found this by doing a Yelp search for a place to eat with my dad. So glad I stopped by. The food was delicious. I tried the #9 which gives you a taste of everything, so I can say I love everything The young lady who helped us was super friendly and explained everything to us first timers. When the food came to our table she explained how the beets and carrots went with the different selections, which I forgot for 1/2 of them. Love the look of the place as well. Definitely coming back. read more

Will never be returning to this place again, soggy nachos foe chila quiles that I ordered. Not very good to say the least. I paid good money to eat here very disappointing I love Mexican good but maybe better practices would help. Also my wife hated the food and she's from mexico. read more

This place was a nice discovery in Pharr. Delicious Pupusas, tacos, and other Central American offerings set this place apart in a good way. Interesting salsas and sides such as shredded beets or cabbage to top the entree. We four had a Platter and a couple of extra entree plates with 22-oz draft beers. Very flavorful. Oh man it has been over 5 years since I've had good pupusas. I'm originally from California where I was introduced to pupusas by a close friend. Her mom set the bar high for pupusas. Since relocating to Texas I've tried a couple places but none came close to my friends mom. I've been out in the Valley since the end of February and unfortunately due to businesses closing down due to covid-19 I was unable to try this place until today. OOOOOOOOOHHHH MAAAAAANNNN this place is AMAZING!!!! I have now found my pupusa place. Already planing my next order. I would have taken a picture of my food but I took a bite and couldn't resist eating it all. Highly recommend this place. read more

I have been coming here for years I ordered Chilaquiles with a sunny side up egg on top. Since it's always busy I ordered and went to sit to waited on my plate. They brought out my wife's order with mine and they didn't put the sunny side up egg it was scrambled eggs. So I told the waiter that it was incorrect he took it back I was expecting them to make me a new one since I took about three small bites until I noticed that they didn't put a sunny side up egg. So they brought me the same plate back and told me the sunny side up egg will come soon. I was amazed they just didn't remake it all new. So it took 15 minutes for the egg to come and my Chilaquiles got cold I told him can you just make me a new one please they said "NO" he stated didn't you check you ticket sir and was being rude and pressure on me to just shut up and take the food. So he left and came back and said we can give you a desert as an apology I was like no I would like my money back he said we don't do that I was so amazed they didn't honor nothing of my request. So I sat there waiting on my wife to finish her food and then the manager came over and she always said we can give you a complimentary dessert I said no that I just wanted a simple remake of my food that got cold she kept on blaming the cooks I said ma'am I just want a new hot meal I don't go back and fourth arguing and complaining about who's fault it was. I did tell her the food is very good here but the service I got all around from the waiter to the manager was awful. I hate to say this but I will never come back here ever again and will not recommend it to any of my friends and family and I will tell them about my experience I had. read more

I'd been wanting to try Pupusas for a really long time, and was out with my mom when I saw this place and we decided to stop in. We were helped by Jasmine and Jessica, who were very sweet and patiently explained the menu items to us. I had the atácate plate and everything was DELICIOUS. The Gordita was the best one I'd ever had. And the Pupusas were AMAZING. My mom tried a bite of mine and said it was her favorite thing there, and I agree. I also really liked the pickled veggies and the hot sauce. Overall it was a wonderful experience and the food was so so good. We will definitely be back. read more

Found this place just searching for something good and local. This one is a GEM! Really good food! Super friendly service! Really glad I found it! They have a lot more than just Pupusas, but their Pupusas are REALLY good! Like, if the average pupusa was half as good as these ones, I'd be a much bigger fan of pupusas in general! Super cute place, amazing food. The pupusas are amazing, the gorditas de chicharrón are the best in town. But my favorite is the breakfast...you HAVE to try the chilaquiles with chicharrón en salsa verde, they're to die for. The molletes are very very good... tip: add huevo con chorizo (on top). Sorry I don't how it is rated #1, I had the pupusa plate, it was gross the pupusas were cooked in maybe last weeks grease and the flauta plate my mom had a wierd smell and left you and after taste. I don't recommend this place at all. read more

Great Great Great! I love El Itacate, the reketes cafe de olla and pan de elote are delicious the taste and quality of everything they make is amazing but I'm writing this review because I was so impressed on the extraordinary customer service! Today on my way to pick up my takeout order my car broke down and I couldn't make it, I kept them notified and the restaurant was about to close but the staff went the extra mile, not only did they wait for me but they helped me and with their help I was able to get my food and enjoy it after all the car troubles, plus they were so nice to me the whole time. I cannot tell you how much I appreciate what they did! This was above and beyond their duties but they are just great people. I hope next time I go to El Itacate I can repay them read more

Excellent restaurant, from the moment I walked in I was very impressed. The cashier was well informed on the ingredients used in each dish and what pairings of food and salsa worked best together. All I can say to the staff is keep it up and you will have a customer for as long as your doors are open! The Rio Grande valley needs more restaurants like this one. BTW the tacos llorarás ( taco with a whole battered and fried jalapeño inside) is absolute man food. read more

We were visiting the area from San Antonio, and we thought it would be nice to try something different. We had one pupusa plate (three pupusas: bean & cheese, original pork, beef), one ovni, and one pork torta. Everything was DELICIOUS! The pork was my favorite pupusa; the beef was a bit spicy for me...that's not to say it's spicy though. Everything we tried (except the orange hot sauce) is very mild. It's just good flavor...not really hot! We really enjoyed everything! The ovni was a big hit with me and my 18 month old, too! The manager was very kind to let us try a mostachòn...which is like a pizelle cookie kinda! Our baby LOVED IT!!! The girls at the counter explained what everything was and were very patient with us as we um-ed and ah-ed our way through ordering, and they were cheerful and interested when delivering our food, checking on us, and clearing our table. We were also impressed with the cleanliness!! Great experience!! read more

I come down from Houston weekly and this is my favorite spot in the valley to eat breakfast. Everything I've had is great with my favorites being chillaquilles reketes, pupusas and the torta. Why aren't Pupusas available everywhere? I can't get enough of them.. After searching through Texas we have found only two TWO! (2,) Restaurants with them But, it's worth it to finally bite into a pork and bean and cheese pupusa with that corn goodness . This place is modern and clean and super friendly with samples! My dining companions had never eaten anything but tacos and burritos before and are hesitant to try ANYTHING new, now they want to go back tomorrow for more. read more

Very good food for a great price. The pupusas are like crepes or pancakes filled with cheese, meat, veggies or beans. They also have tacos and tortas that are pretty good too. The inside is super cute and clean! I'm a regular now :) read more

The Bomb Dot Com! I will eat here every time I'm McAllen. Alyssa & Edith took care of us this evening. Super nice, explained all menu items & made recommendation on the #9 Atacate. Holy Toledo Batman!!!! Blown away by the food, flavors, presentation. Restaurant itself is super nice & super clean, very roomy large open space floor plan. HIGHLY RECOMMEND! Come! What a gem this place is I really enjoyed everything about it from the food to the atmosphere and everything in between! Claudia gave us the run down on the menu in what poposas really are...honestly I couldn't have done it better. I ate the plate that had four diff verieties of food they had but the poposas really stole the show. So glad I finally went to give this place a go it was worth the time. read more

First time we went for breakfast. Coffee was very good it had a cinnamon taste due to how they make it. Food was excellent with the fresh cream and the cheese they use made the flavor mix and taste very good. Sauce was a little hot for a gringo like me but food was so good i could not stop eating. Price was reasonable. Very busy it show it has a good reputation. I plan on going back again soon. read more

This place was a great find. I never would have thought to find an El Salvadoran food joint in McAllen, TX. I went on a whim with a couple of co-workers. First impressions at this place had me taken aback. The whole restaurant is immaculately clean. From the dining area to the restrooms, this place is pleasantly appointed and super clean. Oh, did I mention how clean this place is? In addition to the cleanliness of the restaurant, the staff was superlative! Everyone was extremely friendly and courteous. I thought to myself, can the food be just as good as everything else? Not only was the staff great, but the food was also delicious and fresh! The pupusas were hot and tasty. The pork, beef and poblano pupusas were hot and moist on the inside and crispy and soft at the same time on the outside. Monserrat and her crew were awesome and treated us like we've been there a million times. Chalk this place up as a winner. Winner, winner pupusa dinner! Yelp my peeps, yelp on! read more
