My Wife and I went to La Justicia Restaurant for breakfast and my order and Wife's was wrong and the waiter forgot part of order. He also promised to bring salsa for our chips and he forgo. We ordered a pancake which they forgot to do. I the waiter what happened to the pancake. He went back to the kitchen and through the window it looked like he was making our pancake. He brought out the pancake finally and it us it was still raw. Warning: the food and service was terrible. I'm not sure why as there were only very few customer. read more

I got the breakfast special which happens M-F from 7AM-11AM. I recommend the migas! Their sauces are to die for. The red one especially :) It's very spicy and tasty. And the prices are very reasonable. I've been coming here since I was a kid and have nothing bad to say as an adult. The service is wonderful! Overall we enjoyed our meal. This is a yelp review so I'm going to give you my opinion. I noticed that the floor was not kept swept and the tables that were already clean did not look like whoever did it was doing it mindfully. We did not like the ice tea it was super weak and had a weird aftertaste. We asked the waitress to bring us waters instead. She did bring us waters and she never cleared off the old ice teas from the table the entire meal. I ordered a fajita steak burrito and my husband ordered chicken fajitas. I have to say my burrito was very good. While the fajitas work good , I thought they were a bit overcooked and the style of preparation did not allow that sizzling fajita flavor to come through. It was served with too many green bell peppers and tomatoes mixed throughout the meat. The chips and salsa were good. The chips were a bit oily but still tasted good. The Salsa was super spicy. We like the green sauce test. The bathroom was kept clean though it did have a weird kind of smell but I think that was due to the age of the building. The Decour and artwork throughout the restaurant was nice. Manager and waitstaff were all super friendly and helpful. We do not live in this area but if we do it's debatable weather we'd come back or not. And that's because the fajitas were exactly what my husband taste good said set on. I've eaten at Justicia before covid and I remember the food being really. So this is post covid and the food was more of a 2-star experience. I used a Groupon this time and ordered it to go.... Fairly simple order... enchiladas verdes and the fajitas. My wife said the fajita was good.. nothing over the top but good. She said the same for the rice and beans. I had the enchiladas verdes and I was a little disappointed. I love enchiladas verdes with a tomatillo base...I didn't taste that tangy, slightly sour taste of them (maybe needed more salt?) Plus, the bottom of the enchiladas were so soggy they would simply break apart when I would pick them up with a fork. The filling was shredded chicken which is a bad idea because those release more water which combined with the salsa added up to soggy enchiladas. Granted....I did take out...maybe eaten right when made they would've been better? I don't know...but the texture was very soggy. Overall decent place...prices are good...food might be hit or miss...and if you're doing enchiladas don't do to-go. read more

We have been there a few times. The server brought us some chips and salsa. The chips were over-fried and were old and hard as a rock. We ordered breakfast burritos. The waiter told us it was now 11:00 exactly. We no longer have any burritos for breakfast or tacos. So we ordered the more expensive lunch. The lunch was tacos and burritos. We ordered the tacos that they did not have for breakfast, but had the same thing for lunch?? We waited for 45 minutes for two orders of 3 tacos a piece. We told the manager/owner that it was way too long and he just walked away without apologizing or anything. We ended up leaving without any food. There were only a few other patrons. I have to not recommend this place for the lack of caring and not taking care of and respecting seniors. read more

I was very disappointed with this place. Bottom line, I won't be back. The chilaquiles rojos were merely chips topped with tons of shredded cheese, a scrambled egg, a salsa that the one they serve with chips as guests are seated. The cook just dumped whatever was available in the kitchen. These are not chilaquiles. The chicken on top was chicken guisado and cold. The plate looked more like a tostada, but plain gross. I informed the waiter and he took the plate back. I then asked for two potato/egg tacos...and even these two were not tasty. Seemed like the potatoes were fried in rancid oil. When we paid the waiter said we were not charged for the tacos, which I thought was not fair...since I did have the tacos but not the so-called chilaquiles. Do your homework people! La Justicia was one of my favorite McAllen restaurants, so this review is heart wrenching to write. the La Justicia that I knew and loved provided excellent service, delicious food and an overall enjoyable experience..... Lesson learned- if the restaurant is out of drink and food options on the menu- LEAVE. If no one is in the restaurant.....that may be another indicator that you should seek nourishment elsewhere......If the table has crumbs from the previous customers and the server does not wipe it.......Leave.....unfortunately we overlooked these red flags because we were hungry. This proved to be an err in judgment on our part. This review is my experience. I do hope others have positive experiences. I love locally owned restaurants and frequent them often. During these tough times, I do not want others to have the same experience that I had. We were the only patrons in the restaurant when we arrived in the afternoon. First, We placed our drink order (No Mexican coke, no horchata, no jamicia, no straws). Then, the meal started with chips and salsa.....the chips were super salty and greasy but the salsa was tasty. Thee chips just seemed kinda stale and not fresh- like they had been sitting around for awhile in the open air (I could be wrong). Then we endured the long wait for our food.....we surprisingly waited about 25 minutes for the food to start to arrive. Of the three plates ordered, only one was served at a time.......then five minutes later another plate of food arrived......and about 7 minutes after that the last plate of food arrived. The server said there was a to go order placed before ours (I saw a man pick up what seemed to be one plate of food) and that caused the delay. Nevertheless there was not an apology or acceptance that there was a super long delay and no timeframe of when the food would be ready was given. The server did not seem bothered by any of this. The three of us in our group did not eat together, even though we were at the same table and ordered our food at the same time. Our table ordered 3 dishes: tampiquena, chicken suizas and sopes. The tampiquena had a good portion of beef and was tasty, the sides were ok, but nothing to shout about like in previous visits. The chicken suizas had hair embedded in the cheese......yuck. We told a worker whose only response was "you won't be charged for it." There was no apology and no offer to replace it, so the person who ordered it ended up eating food from the other two plates. I should have canceled the sopes, but they were being delivered as awareness was raised about the hair in the chicken plate.........The sopes were not worth the price of $8.69....About half the lettuce was brown (had a problem uploading a picture of the brown lettuce to this review) and the cheese was not very tasty. in the past, the lemonade was freshly squeezed and delicious.....tastes like the lemonade served nowadays is from the soda foundation. The server did not check up on us.....did not refill drinks, did not even stop by to say that there was a delay with the food, nada....That is not the service previously provided by La Justicia staff...... In a nutshell, if you ok with waiting over half an hour for a simple meal, having meals for your table being served piecemeal, finding hair in your food and eating meals prepared with low quality ingredients, then this is the place for you. La Justicia please bring back the high quality meals and dining experiences that were provided in the past. read more

Come here from time to time for breakfast. The restaurant always gives you free chips and salsa with your meal and the chips are homemade and the salsa has alittle kick to it which I like. The coffee mugs are a good size and the coffee is ok, nothing spectacular. The food is ok, nothing to brag about but they do give you healthy portions so you wont leave feeling like you got ripped off. Service is good but I'm not sure if the A/C was messing up,felt very warm when I was there. I'd recommend trying this place if you wanna break out of the normal places you go to. read more

I cannot do anything but rave positively about this location. The restaurant is fantastic. Staff was amazing. Our waitress was great, very approachable, attentive and friendly. We dined here for lunch. I highly recommend their infamous plate, their caldo de res. It is delicious! If you love traditional Mexican food, specifically soups, than really order this soup. You can smell how good it is from miles away. It is cooked to perfection, the broth flavor is out of this world and the meat is tender and flavorful. Their tacos, tortas, and gorditas are very good. Their meat is just so tender and flavorful. Overall, the restaurant offers delicious food! I highly recommend their soups, service is fantastic and the food is authentic Mexican food. The only good thing about this place was the refried beans!!!! Service was extremely slow, we waited about an hour for our food. there was no orange juice for the kiddos after advertising there was on the menu. As we were giving our order, we had let the waitress know that our little side of the table would be on one check together. Chose this restaurant because of a groupon and reviews. I wish I hadn't. My main complaint was the 45 minute wait to get our food. The other complaint is the orange juice. It might be freshly squeezed but half of the 16 oz glass was water. It tasted not much better than cool aid. Hubby and I both ordered the Desai I Justica. The skirt steak refried beans and potatoes were delicious. The eggs on tortillas were not to our liking. I could find very little egg and it was overwhelmed with green sauce. Too make our experience worse there were 4 babies under the age of 2 that screamed so loud at times it hurt my ears ( not the restaurant fault). Food was good and reasonably priced. Service needs improvement. We sat for about 5 minutes, both waitresses and owner looked our way but, just continued chatting away. Other people walked in after us and were greeted, welcomed and tended to immediately. I finally asked if someone was assigned to our table; they yelled for our waitress, who came over promptly and apologized for not seeing us. Definitely not one of the most glamorous of restaurants, but has, by far, the best panchos in the Valley.

I have been to this place twice. Each time service was excellent but the food was horrible. If I had not come in with my work clothes on, I would have asked for good food. Fajita was old, and had the texture of being reheated several times. Even the chips tasted bad. How do you make chips taste so bad? On the other hand, a coworker had leftovers, and they were delicious. French fries and nuggets are easier than chips for a Mexican restaurant, perhaps? Even though, I doubt I will give them another chance anytime soon. read more

Ordered the mixed botana for 4, it was enough to feed 6 of us and it was delicious. The rice was probably the best Mexican rice I've ever had. My only complaints are 1. When you order mixed, they really combine the chicken and beef, which was a hassle to separate for my family member who hates chicken. 2. The nachos underneath the botana were very soggy, but this is quite common, and hubby said he likes them that way, go figure. Everything was fresh tasting with lots of flavor. Good Mexican food. My dad likes the botanas from here, and I really enjoy their rice and beans. Good flavor. I had their caldo de marisco's and it's pretty good and well served. My husband, on one occasion ordered a sizzling combo plate with chicken, fajita, and shrimp, and he was disappointed. The serving was a lot smaller than we expected and not enough tortillas.
