    Ribeye burrito
    Shawn V.

We were in town for 36 hours and decided to give this place a try - good decision. It's a smaller place and you order at the counter. We walked in just before the crowd which was great. The whole time we were there folks kept coming in! We tried the bacon egg and cheese biscuit. The sandwich was huge! The biscuit was buttery and flaky and very good - it was a 'different' flavor than 'traditional' biscuits - but it was great! We shared an order of biscuits and gravy. It was very good - again, a different flavor than any I've ever had - but again, really really good. It almost had a chicken fried chicken flavor to the gravy - whatever it was - very good. We shared a side of black refried beans. Honestly, I don't think I've ever had black refried beans - refried pinto beans all the time but not black refried. These did not disappoint - they had the definite homemade flavor of truly great refried beans - I would eat these again for sure. I had the ribeye burrito which came with medium rare strips of ribeye; strips of avocado; cheese; potatoes; and refried black beans. I don't like sour cream so I left that off. The burrito itself was grilled which added to it. The salsa was good and had a good balance of heat. Another win. One of our group had the oatmeal with blueberries and strawberries due to dietary restrictions. It was also very good - which was surprising for oatmeal. The oatmeal itself was baked, which is also rarely done. We would definitely come back when we ate in town next time. Different flavors than the 'norm' and all of them very good. Do yourself a favor and check this place out - you'll be glad you did!

The food was absolutely delicious and fresh. Everything was filled with flavor! As soon as we walked in, we were greeted and asked if it was our first time. The lady at the counter took her time to explain everything to us. You grab your menu, take a seat and once you're ready to order you go to the front to request your order. The ambiance felt like I was at a relatives house, having a great meal and a chit chat. If you ask for water/soda, you get it yourself along with your utensils, napkins and condiments. I can't wait to come back! Down side is there is limited seating. And in a short moment it got packed. But it's definitely a place everyone must go try out!

The food was amazing, and the service was excellent. We stayed in the area for a couple of days and went back the next day.

Decided to go here for breakfast, I got the mild chilaquiles, a pancake & their white chocolate mocha iced coffee. Their chilaquiles are so unique and delicious, I could eat them everyday!!! THEIR PANCAKES ARE THE BEST PANCAKES IVE EVER ATE. Their coffee was also good. The restaurant is small and cozy, and they have extra parking space in the back of the restaurant! You order your food at the register, sit yourself down and get your own utensils. Their customer service is great. Loved this place.

This is supposed to be biscuits and gravy. They didn't seem to think anything was wrong with the plate.

Food was cold and over cooked. The workers that I called over to point out the food were of no help. We asked if we could get our tip back since we left a 20 %tip but were told since we paid with a credit card they refused.

Food and space were ok! Friendly staff. Looking forward to coming back and try different menu items.

Tried this place based on reviews. Staff was friendly, food was just ok. Maybe would try something different next time. The best thing we ate was the waffles.

After reading so many positive reviews I decided to try this place out for myself and was not disappointed! The staff were so friendly and helpful, and the atmosphere felt so cozy and homely. I tried the chilaquiles and they were so delicious along with the sides. My friend got the avocado BLT and commented on how flavorful it was. Such a nice spot to have lunch or get a coffee with friends!

Food is good. Has an Austin feel along with the Austin price tag. Would go back but seating is limited.

I was in McAllen for a day or two when I spent some time on South Padre Island. Enter Sweet Paris Creperie and Cafe. It's in what seems to be the area's biggest shopping mall and on the side closest to the 2 Expressway and its frontage road, and very close to the airport. I went in one evening and the mall was hopping. You will immediately see this understated store and restaurant ... a French creperie. (I don't remember where to put the circonflexe, accent grave, and accent aigu from 3 years of Catholic high school French, nor am I going to look for them on the keyboard.) So, while a little different from the other chain goings-on in this area, Sweet Paris is tastefully decked out. Crepes tend to be slightly expensive in general. It's all about marketing ... I'm going to sell you something "French" and charge a little more for it. However, I was very hungry. I would be ordering 2 crepes - a dinner crepe with chicken and a dessert crepe with Nutella. Both of the crepes were very good. They offer quite a few options on their menu. From the photos, I saw that they have these "nifty" coffees with a foam design shaped like the Eiffel Tower, but I would not be partaking later in the evening. The service was good. Most people in the Rio Grande Valley tend to be more polite than in most American places I've lived or visited. The interior is very clean and inviting and you should definitely eat in. The mall is so popular, which is a good thing these days, that I had to go out toward the edge of the parking lot to get a space. There was also one of those "blue lights" (not as in a "blue light special") positioned in the parking lot ... and I don't see those too often. Like everything else in this area, things and places are spacious and spread out. But let me get back to Sweet Paris Creperie and Cafe. The crepes here were the real deal. Again, they were indeed good. I also like that, in this smaller urban area, they offer a unique concept like this, hence I'm going with 4 stars for this restaurant.
