Amazing food and quick service! Also the desserts are worth it even if you dont want a meal. Just take it home.

Ate this past Saturday with a party of 8 with the place nearly full but no waiting line, so we're seated quickly. The waitress took orders quickly and served and refilled coffee regularly, but the food took over an hour to arrive. It was ridiculous considering the plates were just omelets with beans or potatoes. Other customers who arrived after ate and left before we ever got our food, which was okay but nothing better than Denny's omelet. They didn't bother apologizing for the long wait nor offering a piece of bread to bide our hunger, but were sure to include their tip in the bill. Will never eat here again read more

So if I could give 1/2 stars, this place would get 4 1/2. We were in town and decided to stop by for breakfast. The place is very busy, but despite that the wait was only 10 minutes at 10:00 am on a Saturday. The hostess and our server were both very friendly. The place advertises that it specializes in home cooked comfort foods so we figured we'd have to see how their biscuits and gravy were. We ordered a 1/2 order and it came with a biscuit split in half and covered with gravy and sausage. The flavor was perfect - it definitely lived up to 'home cooked comfort food'. I ordered an omelette - three cheeses, sausage, bacon and ham with onions, cilantro and jalapeños - which came with refried (black) beans. The omelette was very good - flavorful and fresh. They actually use slices of cheese inside and on top - I've never had an omelette prepared that way but it was very good. When I first tasted the salsa I was not a fan - it was warm and had a different flavor - then I put it on the omelette and - great pairing and great flavor combo. The refried black beans were sadly underwhelming - no real flavor. I know they were homemade but they were missing the flavor that usually comes with refried beans (black or pinto) My wife had the quiche which had onions, peppers, sausage, mushrooms and cheese. It was very good. Even the crust was good. She ordered the breakfast potatoes as the side. The flavor of the potatoes was excellent. Half of them were lightly crispy on the outside and soft on the inside which were great; the other half were overcooked and became potato chips - good flavor but not a breakfast potato. We will definitely come back to try their lunch food and dessert (we were too full today). They have a good variety of breakfast, lunch and dinner items on the menu so there is something for everyone. We were glad we stopped in. read more

I've now had 3 visits here. 2 breakfasts and 1 lunch. All were absolutely fantastic meals that created the desire to return. The owner/operators are very personable and kind people as well. The staff are attentive and take great care of you. Food comes out promptly and in my 3 visits, precisely as ordered. I don't believe I've ever felt more welcomed into a restaurant than here. Seriously this is what other restaurants should strive to deliver. Fantastic food, great environment to eat in and welcoming staff. Breakfast: both the works omelet and migas were great (especially with the added salsa). 1000% get the fruit. The dip they provide is of similar idea to that which Jason's deli gives. With the primary difference that this one makes Jason's seem entirely inadequate. Lunch: The chicken Parmesan is an excellent choice, I got pasta instead of potatoes. It was a very healthy portion and filled me up. Even the veggies it comes with are properly seasoned and cooked. The tea is wonderful, they do offer flavored teas but I did not try that. TLDR: great establishment, give them a try. read more

A great place to get a sandwich and soup for lunch. We ordered hot tea, which they came with a quaint teapot and several choices of tea. The service staff were great and the food was excellent. The potatoes were beyond good, with each of them being a variant of sizes along with crispy... they were delicious. They have a salsa which you have to ask for, but it gave the potatoes another pop. This is a TINY little mom and pop run restaurant in McAllen. One that could easily be missed if you blink! And that would be a shame. It's open basically 7 to 3 for breakfast, lunch and even an early supper. I see they also sell whole pies and cakes but be sure to order ahead. The food all seems made in house and fresh. They also do a heck of a delivery business by the number of meals we saw going out the door in bags. I had a half order of Biscuits and Gravy, a half order of bacon and a side of breakfast potatoes. All were very tasty. The biscuit was decent size, not "cakey", but like my mom made. The sausage gravy was interesting because they seemed to use a cased sausage cut into small 1/4 rounds. The gravy itself was of good consistency, not runny or "gloppy" and tasted good. It didn't need salt, just a good dash of black pepper. Evidently an order of thick cut, 1/4" bacon, is two slices, as I got one slice with my half order. It was really good bacon, a little smokey and not overly salty. The breakfast potatoes were unique in that they were more like thick cut potato chips, but not deep fried. They had a reddish seasoning on top, maybe a little paprika seasoned salt? Anyway, they were excellent. And the coffee...... oh my..... deep rich flavor without tasting burnt! The service was excellent! Our coffees never ran dry, waters were always full. The price was reasonable - a 1/2 order of B&G was $4.99, 1/2 order of bacon was $1.99 and the potatoes were $2.49 I think. I don't remember how much the coffee cost. All in all I was pleased. It's a drive for us to get there but IF I'm in the McAllen area, on 10th St up near Trenton, I'll definitely drop in again. read more

Staff and store: The staff was incredibly friendly and knowledgeable. I asked for recommendations and was given a description of the Migas that sold me. Had everything I needed and was given it with a warm smile. Food: this place knocked my socks off. The food was incredibly simple but out of this world good. It really reminded me of the classic diner quality food but not like Dennys, more like a straight out of the 1950s, all the food is real and made from scratch type quality. Price: place was a steal. I couldn't believe how reasonable the prices were. Everything else is experiencing inflation but not this place. Worth every penny and a 30% tip. Summary: place is a total experience worth having weekly. The 17$ Banana Caramel Pie made New Years, and was gone before I had a slice. Lesson learned: buy more. read more

This review is for the savory breakfast, not the sweet selection of desserts they have on display. I have been frequenting the area for business and seeking out my favorite TexMex morning cuisine. The restaurant has a cozy dining area with a nice home kitchen feel. Service is attentive and the food and coffee hit the spot for breakfast. I had the Migas a la Mexicana (2 days in a row now) and like how they do it here. I think for this dish, the onion and jalapeños really drive the flavors. They do it well here. Jalapeños have just enough heat to carry the dish and onions add a nice savory punch. The signature migas ingredient, fried corn tortilla chips, add a nice crunch. The chips are relatively small here so the dish appears more like straight Huevos a la Mexicana than migas, but it works for me. They also have a good coffee selection and kept my cup full. Cozy little place that welcomes you at the door. We ordered several items. The pancake, juevos rancheros and side potatoes were great. The potatoes are sliced like chips-fantastic and unique twist. I would not recommend the French toast- it was basically warm sandwich bread dusted with powdered sugar. The bacon was thick but rubbery and tasteless. All servers were very attentive to their sections. Coffee was always refilled. The price points were fair. I like that you can basically order a la carte to get a variety. As a traveling nurse I try to find new and unique places and support local shops. Found this place to have an outdoor patio and allows dogs, as I am traveling with my 4 legged co-pilot. I was impressed by the pictures so gave it a shot. I was NOT disappointed!! We, the dog and I, were seated to the side of the building with a small table on a patch of grass. This place is adorable with very cozy decor. The breakfast is AMAZING! Best Belgian waffle I've ever had (and I kinda thought waffles were all the same before this one)! The scrambled eggs were fluffy and flavorful. The breakfast sausage is really tasty and not too greasy. My husband's omelet was filled with fresh ingredients and perfectly cooked. The coffee they serve here is DELICIOUS - it's a strong and full-bodied roast that's complemented perfectly by a little cream & sugar, if you choose!
