It Texas for business and really wanted Mexican food. Most of the locals that I've met kept raving about this place, so I definitely had to try it out. Here goes! Delia's is famous for their tamales and I happen to be an Arizona boy who knows good authentic tamales when I see/taste one. Dalia's pretty much hit the mark in regards to what a delicious tamale should taste like, the only problem is, they're super skinny. I ordered a half dozen of the beef tamales and was shocked when they were only asking 6 bucks and some change. A half dozen back home is going to hit you for roughly $15, give or take, but you get some fat a$$ tamales! The flavor of the meat was great, as well as the masa, so no complaints about taste. Another item of note is this restaurant basically only sells tamales. No rice. No beans. No tacos. Just tamales. You also want to be prepared to wait in the drive thru for at least a half hour because half the state of Texas showed up to get these amazing tamales! Overall, great prices and great food, just a lot smaller than what I'm used to back home. Two thumbs and toe toes up for this joint! Happy eating, my foodies! read more

I was recently visiting the lower Rio Grande Valley from Houston, and someone suggested to me that I try the tamales at Delia's. Folks, those are the best tamales I've ever had in my life! You order in bunches of 6 or 12, and you cannot mix and match, so I ordered a half dozen chicken tamales, which was the perfect amount for lunch. They came with a side salad. The tamales were steaming hot and incredibly moist, and my goodness they were delicious! I can't wait to get back to the RGV again to try more tamales from Delia's! read more

I love Delia's tamales, I always get some when I visit. For some reason the frozen tamales are $2 more than fresh ones. The restaurant looked clean and there were plenty of workers. It did take 10 minutes to get my frozen tamales though. read more

Customer service was good but the tamales not so much I don't get the hype of this place. The tamales tasted awful and they were very greasy as well. Also the salsas didn't taste well either. I really don't recommend this place at all spend your money somewhere else. read more

We bought some pork and spicy pork tamales here for Christmas this year. The tamales tasted great and the ordering and pick up process was very efficient, but every single tamale that I tried had gristle. Every. Single. One. We've gotten tamales from Delia's before, but not this location. I don't know what it was. Maybe with the holidays they hired extra help or were just trying to work quickly or something, but the gristle was nasty. I could understand maybe in one, but every one that I tried? Unacceptable. I didnt really know what to expect of this place that looks like a super high fast food chain for tamales.. but the issues of parking aside...the people were busy and get in and get you out with your order. They have a ton of different choices, so for the faint of heart when seeing a menu for their indecisiveness.... try one of each! We got 1/2 packs of pretty much pork, chicken in green sauce, cream cheese and bean, bean and cheese and some other that I can't remember because I did not get to write the review right away, but those mentioned were very memorable. I still carry them the taste with me, aawwww~ I wish I remembered to go back to this place before coming to ATX....but most definitely know where I'll get my tamale fix next time I'm in town! This is probably the best place I have ever bought tamales. No one makes them like my wife and my suegra, but this place is awesome, has a variety of options, and is very cheap. So in SA, the norm for tamale pricing by the dozen is between $11-$13. That's just what they cost here, and we're used to t already. At Delia's, the most expensive option is about $12 a dozen. Only one flavor at that price. All other options are between $7 - $9 a dozen. That is already good pricing, but wait, IT. GETS. BETTER! If you choose the frozen option, the tamales are $6 a dozen....WHAT...?! Yes, you read correctly, $6 a dozen. That is just awesome pricing in my book. We bought some as we were leaving San Juan yesterday, and I had them this morning, OMG.... they were the DELISH BOMB! I just can't say enough how much we loved the tamales. Next time I will buy at least 10 dozens. They're just that good. If you haven't tried Delia's, please, please, do so. You won't regret it. read more

The food is great as in all Delia's but the location and entry/exit is horrible the drive thru line flows onto Jackson st blocking anyone from being able to drive into the parking lot and eat inside. This happened to me Sunday March 31, 2019 and the security was just standing by the building not doing anything about the traffic situation. read more

The tamales at this location are as good as the ones at the other locations. However, we're not fans of the fact that their drink fountain is behind the counter, mostly because we'd rather refill our own drinks rather than ask someone. Also, their parking seems a bit limited at times. read more

I went to Delias drive thru today. I asked for a tamal veracruzano, when I was asked if I wanted anything else with my order I said yes, I would like some corn chips. Inside the restaurant they have all-you-can-eat salad salsa and corn chips all I wanted was a little handful of corn chips to eat with my meal. I was told that they don't serve corn chips for the drive-through people. How does that make any sense !! he refused to give me any corn chips at all I offered to pay extra for them and he said no I will not be returning to that Delias again and they've lost a very valuable customer because I shop there a lot, for my office personal and office Christmas parties. Delia's tamales I considered to be the best you can buy. Twice now I have gotten home (3miles away) and the tamales look like a soiled diaper. Extremely soggy, undercooked and dripping with grease. I believe they make them by the bunches and freeze them. Which is why they would be soggy due to the ice defrosting. Anyways they were disgusting and I'm not going there anymore. Came in this morning to pick up my Xmas tamales as I have done for years. Delia's tamales are a special request of my family in Austin. I arrived today and was told I was late, and that my tamales had been sold. I was not late - my order had been recorded incorrectly. But even if I had been late, I'm not sure why they would not have my tamales when the restaurant was closed - and only selling preordered tamales! Then, they proceeded to tell me I could come back in 4 hours. And when I responded "that's not possible, I am on my way to Austin for the holidays", they sent over a policeman to ask me to leave. I told him I wasn't leaving without my order, he threatened to have arrested. That's right, ARRESTED!!! I sat down on the bench and s told him to do what he's gotta do, I can't leave without my order. Finally, Jessica, came over and told me she could sell me my order frozen. She was the only person in the building with a brain and sense of customer service. I left with my order. If Delia's has a policy about pick up times, they should ensure that policy is communicated by every employee taking orders. And when a mistake happens, they should REALLY reconsider threatening customers with arrest to resolve the issue!!! I've been purchasing 7-12 dozen tamales every Christmas and driving an hour out of my way to pick them up. No more. Delia's has lost my business forever. I'll be buying my holiday tamales in Brownsville for now on. Any business that threatens their customers for one of their employees mistakes is undeserving of my business- AND YOURS. read more

Nobody and I mean nobody does tamales like Delia's (my own opinion). I'm from out of towm and this is one place that I have to visit while I'm in the RGV. I love the green chilie pork tamales. Also, they have a red salsa and a green salsa (HOT) to dip them in. Delias may have tamales down to a science or art but her tamales first and foremost always taste home made. Way to go Delia's.
