BISCUIT BEIGNETS W/HONEY MARMALADE

GREAT SPOT! Atmosphere Service Ask for Bulmaro - great service! Food...EXCELLENT!! Tried the Corn beef and Brussels hash the Hubby had the Louisiana Benedict (both seasonal, can't wait to come back and try the next seasonal menu) so glad we were able to taste these delicious dishes. Can't wait till they bring them back. Mom had the Buttermilk Pancakes with Ham, once again they hit the mark with such a simple dish. In addition, their Spiked Hot Coffees were really good. This will definitely be a come back place for us.

Cinnamon roll French toast. Scrambled eggs and house made sausage

This restaurant just opened in McAllen and boy was it packed. Good thing you can join the wait list online. Service was ok as we got a new waitress and she seemed a bit lost. Still we were patient with her as we know they have to start somewhere. The food idk what to think I was expecting idk really really good flavors but it just didn't quite hit the spot for me. The home made sausage had a distinct taste of spices and a bit of sweetness that I just didn't like. The cinnamon roll French toast was meh, something was missing and the bread consistency was not there for a French toast bread. My husband had the chicken and waffles and as seen in the pictures it was 3 Chicken tenders and one waffle. Was expecting more for the price ( more as in in flavor or something that makes it stand out). The ambiance in my opinion was very loud by that IMO.

Biscuits and gravy plate with breakfast potatoes, egg whites and sausage

This place was so busy, I highly recommend getting there early or make sure you're willing to wait for a table! That being said, the wait is totally worth it imo. We ordered regular coffee and it was nice, not too strong. The prices are a bit steep but they do give you huge portions. I ordered the supreme omelet with potatoes and wheat toast. The potatoes were nicely seasoned and the omelet was huge! I would have liked my toast a bit toastier but other than that, my breakfast was delicious. My mom ordered biscuits and gravy and they make their sausage and gravy in house and it tasted so good! Their gravy was tasty and the biscuits were nice and fluffy! Our service was fantastic! Our waitress was nice and helpful with any questions we had about the menu and the food and the manager even stopped by our table to check in on us and told us that everything is made fresh and in house. Give this place a try! The space is nice and modern but still makes you feel homey. I can't wait to go back and try something different!

Personally, I was a fan of the chicken and waffles. The waffle was crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside. The chicken was good, and the syrup had a nice kick. My husband got the broken chicken biscuit with country potatoes. It was very good. Unfortunately, we were given dirty silverware. Thankfully, the hostess quickly gave us new sets. The service was mediocre, perhaps because we came in at 1:40, close to closing time. Our server didn't check on us much, and forgot our apple juice. The food was good though and I enjoyed the coffee.

As a Yelper, I should have looked up these reviews before I wasted my time not only driving 30'mins this way but dining here this morning. I took my son to breakfast/brunch and from the beginning it was not a very pleasant experience. Upon entering, the ambiance is unimpressive. It just looks like a big crowded cafeteria. There was a long wait and no "waiting" area other than one small bench available. God forbid you have to stand. The staff make you feel like you are in their way the entire time. Hostess were very unfriendly and seemed bothered most of the time. Our Server was very kind but overwhelmed and busy. It took forever to receive our food. When the food came, it looked pretty, but the flavors fell short. Other than the soup, everything was pretty basic and unexciting. $17 for a fishy tasting crab cake Benedict (which has been a favorite breakfast item of mine for years) it was absolutely terrible. I don't think it was crab at all. The hollandaise non existent and I'm pretty sure the egg was over easy. My son had chicken tenders, hard to mess that up, but he too was unimpressed. It is rare my 12 year old tells me they don't ever want to go back there, but I will not be back and do not recommend wasting your time or $$ at this place. Very disappointing considering I use to love First Watch when I was living in Houston and I heard they are affiliated.

The supreme omelette with an English muffin and fresh fruit. Delicious and huge portions!!

The wait was about 20 minutes for 3 of us, but they texted us as soon as our table was ready. There wasn't much of a waiting area, however, so we went and waited in the car. Food was WONDERFUL and so was the coffee (I had the medium roast). The server we had was friendly, prompt and the food came out relatively quickly. It was a little loud but nothing crazy, that would be expected on a Sunday morning. I'll definitely be going back soon!

Apple Fritter pancakes and Hey Lucy

Great service great food great drinks overall great place for brunch enjoyed everything

Spinach scramble with fruit also comes with an English muffin but I don't eat bread.

A brand new breakfast place. Hubs had the cinnamon roll French toast. With eggs and sausage. He said it was super yummy. I had the spinach scramble with fresh fruit. Very tasty. The building is industrial and has quite an echo factor. So it's a tad loud and hen busy.

Been here a few different times, really like the seasonal menus. The Brussel sprout hash in November was amazing.

Cowboy Chicken

I have been to McAllen TX ... and have even eaten there (2 of 2)…read more I saw that many reviewers are awarding Cowboy Chicken 5 stars. I was going to go with 4 stars, but then thought about it ... they did everything right. I happened to be in this general area, while visiting the famous main branch of the McAllen Public Library, which holds the record for being the largest library on one level in either the U.S., North America, or the world. Dinnertime was approaching and a barbecue place sounded just like what I needed. Cowboy Chicken is in a strip mall close enough to the library. Parking is easy and, once inside, you go through a short line to order what you want to eat, with some people eating in and others taking out. I do like to eat this regional barbeque food on occasion, and it's something I do at least once every time I'm in the Houston metro area. I always go for the 2 item combination platter. However, in the Houston area, I don't seem to land on places that offer both brisket and boneless chicken. So, in Houston, I get brisket and turkey ... and I'm still a happy camper. At this Cowboy Chicken, I asked if I could get chicken as one of the 2 meats and if it could be (a) boneless piece(s). The young lady helping me said that I could and was very helpful. I took my tray to the simple but airy eating area and started to dig in. Everything, including the sides, was delicious. The chicken and the brisket were very much to my liking. I'm not being a big baby by always asking for boneless stuff, but who wants to mess with bones and scales when eating outside of their home or at a backyard event? I wanted to add that the portion size was satisfying and that the pricing was appropriate. This "main" Cowboy Chicken has a lot of good things going for it - the food, the service, the portions, the value, and, above all, what I perceived to be a strong focus on the customer. So there you have it. If visiting the impressive main branch of the McAllen Public Library and get hungry, you might stop by Cowboy Chicken for a meal. How does that sound for a field trip?

Cracker Barrel Old Country Store - Buttermilk Biscuits

Cracker Barrel Old Country Store

We were looking for a place to grab breakfast with the family on New Year's Day and decided on…read moreCracker Barrel since we've had positive experiences here in the past. It felt like a safe, familiar choice for a holiday morning. When we arrived, we were told the wait would be about 30 minutes. To our surprise, we were called back closer to 10 minutes after signing in, which was a very welcome start. That said, once we were called, we ended up waiting a bit longer while our table was cleaned. Unfortunately, it wasn't fully ready when we were seated. There was still trash on the floor, which I nudged aside with my foot until someone eventually came by and picked it up. Our server came over fairly quickly to ask for drink orders, and we were promptly served coffee and water, which we appreciated. After that, things slowed down. It seemed clear the restaurant was short-staffed. Our waiter was visibly running around, and it took quite a while for our food order to be taken even though we were ready. When the food finally arrived, most of the plates were incomplete. I ordered the Country Boy Breakfast with three eggs, sirloin steak tips, a biscuit with gravy, and two breakfast sides. I chose grits and the fried sweet apples. What arrived initially was the eggs, steak tips, and grits. The biscuit and gravy didn't show up until another 15-20 minutes later. The eggs were cooked sunny-side up as requested, but the steak tips were unfortunately very overcooked and, in my opinion, over-seasoned. The grits were honestly pretty bad. On the bright side, the fried sweet apples were amazing and easily the highlight of my meal. Others in our party had similar issues. Some people received eggs but not their pancakes. One person in our group of five, who ordered only French toast and bacon, didn't receive any food at all until the rest of us finally got our missing pancakes and biscuits. We didn't want to start eating until everyone had something, and by the time everything arrived, much of the food was cold. We also asked multiple times for basic accompaniments like jelly for the biscuits and salsa for the eggs and steak tips. These took a long time to arrive and required several reminders. I could sense our waiter's frustration, which I genuinely understand given the circumstances, but we were equally frustrated and disappointed with the service. Overall, the food was mid. The steak was very bad, the grits were disappointing, while the pancakes and biscuits seemed to be solid for everyone else. The eggs were fine, and the apples really stood out in a good way. I'd recommend sticking to the basics here. The prices were reasonable, but the service issues took away significantly from the experience. With better staffing, this location could likely do much better. As it stands, I can't give it more than 3 stars for average food and poor service, and even that feels a bit generous, offered in the spirit of starting the new year with positive vibes.

Situation: Needed to reserve a table for 7 at Cracker Barrel for lunch…read more First Attempted to make reservation by calling, however they only have an online/app Waiting List. Second: Put Name on waiting, however timing was too soon so that did not work for group or business. Third: Put Name on waiting list through the app for the my expected time of arrival. Waited a bit at the when arrived. We got our table and it was a bit of a wait for the waiter to get to us for drink/food order. Separation of tickets may have slowed down the whole process, So business should let parties know it is not an option. We had to leave before food was ready.
