a whole fish on a plate

Good food! There was plenty of parking so I really liked how I didn't have to deal with trying to find a parking spot. We got in during lunch hours on a Sunday. The place was pretty packed, but we got seated right away. The salsa was really good. I liked it a lot. I really don't have any complaints about any of the food. Everything I tried was good. I tried the whole tilapia and the tilapia was really huge! It was fried perfectly. It wasn't overcooked or undercooked. Their rice was also really good. I really loved the birria tacos here. I also tried their strawberries and cream and that was also pretty good. The people here were pretty nice. Our server dropped the food off and then we never saw her again, but it was understandable since they were pretty busy during lunch. In all, I had a really good experience and would be back.

I love it when an old fast food place is transformed into a real local spot for great food. That's very much the case here--lots of parking and a roomy interior. Prompt gracious service. All of the basics covered. But the food easily separates this place from the city's many good Mexican restaurants. We started with an excellent choriqueso and homemade salsa--the chips better than most. The mole chicken was superb, rich, earthy but a bit of sweet in the sauce--the chicken was so tender too. The other dish was chicken smothered in peppers and mushrooms. Tasty and not overcooked. The fruit drinks were refreshing but not overly sweet. They also have beer and margaritas--a small bar, the only drawback to this casual reasonably price restaurant.

Service quick and easy to pick up. Jalapeño avocado dipping sauce my favorite here. Got the heat level to my taste.

Carnitas Taco

The BRC was my favorite. I've never seen a carnitas Taco that had cubed pork. It was super dry. Usually with carnitas the fat is almost the same texture as the meat, but this was not good. The meat was dry. Same with the tamale. It's was dry. Loved the man at the drive thru. He has such a positive personality. I will definitely try again. Maybe it was an off day.

This was highly rated so my daughter and I tried it to confirm or deny.... We confirm the service and the food taste were both 5 stars. Not as Americanized as other "Mexican " restaurants. We chose the chicken enchiladas and the chicken was not shredded it was more cubed or diced. I thought that it was better than the shredded chicken at most Mexican restaurants. We really enjoyed the food and service. Great experience.

Love this place. One of the only places you can find an authentic mole in Murfreesboro. Prices are fair and the food is delicious. Come give them a try

Soft chicken taco, where's the chicken?

Craving some good Mexican food but was disappointed! Went to the old Burger King, this restaurant still seems like the same fast food restaurant. No Mexican flare which you expect.. Tried the tacos, tasteless chicken and when I ordered a soft taco you would think it would be a flour tortilla, nope! A raw corn one was served to me. Asked for a DR. Pepper, came in a bottle, no ice in cup until I requested it. Service was slow and the chips were awful and greasy! Salsa was decent though. Ordered a Tamale, it was still served in the husk! Who wants to unwrap those? On top of it, it was dry and hardly any pork in it. Sad to say but I was not impressed with this place.

I recommend this place to any of my friends or family. Probably the closest you can get when it comes to authenticity here in the boro!

Way too expensive. $65 for 3 people. Chicken cheesy rice, a taco plate, and carne asada. Food tasted fine. Service was pretty non existent.

Out of all states I have traveled and ate Mexican food, this place is by far the best place to eat traditional and authentic Mexican food!

We've been…read moresearching for so long and I had honestly given up multiple times, but like all great explorers, we endured and persevered. Taqueria Lupita is a great spot nestled inside a gas station market. As soon as we walked in, I knew we were in for a treat. The smell of meat on the griddle and the aroma of toasted tortillas met our noses and it made my mouth instantly start salivating. The team behind the counter was working fast and got our order out super quick. I opted for a chicken burrito and it took all of my self control to keep from eating it on the drive home. But like all great explorers of old, we had to take our bounty back to the motherland for all to enjoy. I cut it open and see what the cross section looked like, and it was practically perfect. I forgot to ask for avocado, so that's on me. We got the red and green salsas with it and they were both great. I loved the roasty undertones and heat of the red salsa. The first bite of this burrito took me back to another place, far from Tennessee. It was a glorious first bite. The melty cheese, the rice, beans and the chicken combined to make the most delicious symphony of flavors. I can't say enough good things about this burrito, you have to try it for yourself. I'm eager to try more things on their menu, especially the torta, it looked amazing.

As soon as we saw the (previously Oakland) Raiders logo, we knew it was gonna be good! I got the steak (asada) burrito - it came with rice, beans, meat, sour cream, and lettuce. If I had to give a critique, I'd say it's just missing a little guac. But oh my word, this burrito transported me right back to California! The flavors were spot on, the ratios were perfect. It may have taken us five years, but we finally found a Mexican spot that will definitely be in our rotation. It's located inside a small gas station, which confused us at first. But once we walked in, it was clear where to order. Both guys working seemed extremely kind and helpful, and overall just happy to be serving people incredible food.

It appeared that they had a group of people in the center of the restaurant whom everyone was trying to take care of. The taste of the food in all honesty was 1 step above Taco Bell, and I love some Taco Bell, so that isn't a dis at all. My boyfriend and I both had burritos, mine had carnitas and his had the option of ground beef and chicken. He said the chicken was so bland, that the only way he knew it was there is that it fell out of the burrito. Would I go back, yes, because it reminded me of when I lived in Chattanooga.

I arrived and my server Raquel got me set up with a beer and brought me some chips and salsa. The Pozole Verde is HUGE, enough for three people because I was only able to make a small dent in it. The chips were crispy and the salsa surprised me, great flavor! The Pozole is a rich stew loaded a solid green tomatillo/chile broth, shredded chicken, hominy, while you add the sides of radish, lime juice, lettuce, cilantro, and onions. The spice level (I am a wimp) on this stew is close to the top of my range causing some sweating and sniffles. The downside...the furnishing could use some rehab. Upside...good food and service, I'll visit again to try their Birria Ramen.
