Delicious Location. The decor is fresh and light and the bar area is updated and clean. The chips and salsa were good. Good flavor on the salsa. I ordered the Buddha Bowl with chicken and steak. The meat seems to be better than other spots, it could be what they marinate it in. My major complaint is the beans in the bowl were super salty. But after mixing them in made it less noticeable. Great! Came on a Saturday around 6:30 and they were pretty busy, but was brought chips and salsa right away. Ordered the tacos al pastor which came with plenty of filling! A little bit too salty for me, but was still very good. I appreciate that they have white rice as an option instead of Mexican rice. It also came with delicious refried beans. Our waitress was very kind and helpful and did a great job even with how busy she was. I will definitely be back to try the street corn tacos and a margarita!!! read more

Stopped in for lunch and was pleasantly surprised. We ordered an Asada (steak) burrito and added cilantro and onion which was delicious! It ate more like a giant flour taco though. Lol The quesadilla San Luis was ok, I didn't realize it came with like every meat they make and I totally missed that. I would not order it that way again. Nice neighborhood Mexican restaurant. Expansive menu with some twists on traditional American/Mexican cuisine. They offer a Buddha Bowls in 3 or 4 variations that were well reviewed by our group. We ask for the spicy salsa that did not disappoint for our spicy lovers. Fish tacos were missing fish and left something to be desired. Bar service has a lot to improve on. Table service was great. We ordered the guac fajita bowl with steak and Mexican street tacos. The bowl was tasty and filling. The Mexican street tacos came with your choice of three tacos with rice and beans. I choose carnitas, chorizo, and steak. The tacos were enjoyable. I'm very particular with carnitas and theirs is one of the better tasting ones in town. They were cooked and seasoned perfectly. The chorizo had a char which helped enhance its flavor. I've had a better steak taco elsewhere but it was still good, so no complaints really. I can't wait to come back and explore more of their menu! read more

First time to this place and overall pretty good. Salsa, guacamole and enchiladas were tasty but the fajitas did not have any flavor. They came out within 5 minutes of ordering so I assume the chicken was all ready prepared. It was dry and had no color besides what looked like black pepper. read more

We were on our way to eat pizza and salad at Luca's when we passed this spot and remembered how much we'd wanted to try it, and so... It's a nice, clean Mexican spot with a great environment and friendly staff. They were ramping up for the dinner rush, so everyone seemed a bit more tense but less fuss is a plus for me. We've been in love with birria tacos for a few years now so it's nice there's a few places to eat them here (West 22!) in the Boro, and we were stoked to see them on the menu and both ordered them (it's extremely rare we both order the same thing, but it's birria...). Unfortunately, it was a bust. The rice and black beans are phenomenal! I could eat them weekly! The birria tacos were not-too-great. They are t fries in the grease like they should be, the consume has very little flavor, and there was very little cheese and it was all at the bottom. We'll go back, for sure! It was a great experience and I look forward to trying a new dish, but I'll definitely stick to West 22 Tacos or Mexico Tipico for my beloved birria tacos. read more

I have no idea how this place has such a high rating. I was so disappointed in the service, the brown avocados and raw shrimp that I couldn't bring myself to ask for a manager. In a city where there's a Mexican restaurant every mile, I roll my eyes when another one opens. Let me tell you something though - Los Barriles is the BEST Mexican in town. I've tried almost all of them. The Cowboy Bites appetizer? Amazing. Steak, chicken, shrimp, and jalapeños with queso in a cast iron- it's what dreams are made of The steak fajitas are amazing. The steak is always cooked so well! The Guaca Fajita bowl is next level and such an awesome option! I always get it with steak. The real shining star? The chicken tortilla soup. Y'all. It's SO good. When the weather is cooler, I get it once a week. One week I had it FOUR TIMES between ordering it and having leftovers. It's such a comfort food and it's SO good every time The blackberry margaritas are fire and the guacamole is unmatched- no gross puréed avocado in a bowl. It's chunky and fresh and just delicious. Place is legit. I came here from Southern California, and it's been a challenge to find Mexican food that's similar and NOT Tex Mex. This place was recommended to me by another SoCal native and it was spot on. The beans, rice, and salsa (the basics) are very good and definitely taste homemade. Went there for lunch after finding a new home in the area. Was seated immediately and quickly were brought drinks and salsa and chips. My wife ordered Mexican street tacos and loved the steak that they grilled and I had veggie fajitas and they did not disappoint. Veggies seemed fresh and the sides were all really good - very good flour fajitas. Service was very good - we asked to have a channel changed to a live soccer game and they had no problem accommodating. Food was good, quick for lunch, and a good price. We will be back. read more

The chicken had a lot of flavor and was very tender. The chips were fresh and the guacamole was very fresh and super flavorful. Took off a star because of the margaritas. I orders the Diablo which should have had muddled jalapeños, blanco tequila, orange liqueur, fresh lime juice and simple syrup. When the waiter brought it to the table I knew it was made with the simple syrup lime juice which gives it a fluorescent green color and a nasty flavor. There were muddle jalapeños but three sitting on top. I had them remake it with lout simple syrup but with lime juice and a little agave. Fairly certain it still wasn't fresh lime juice and believed they just used a little less of the simple syrup. Not everyone goes for margaritas and just the food and the food was excellent.
