El Caporal is a venerable Bend establishment which tops the list of many Bendite's favorite Mexican restaurants. They offer an expansive menu with all the usual options, a really nice interior with comfortable seating and ambiance, and a separate bar with TVs. Food is high quality and the service is attentive (they have staffing issues like everyone else though). Prices are higher than you might expect but that seems to be the way things are these days - restaurants struggle with sourcing affordable ingredients. Recommended.

I'm here in Bend OR on business and the hostess at the Hotel I'm staying at highly recommended this restaurant. Nice atmosphere with Mexican music playing is very nice. The restaurant is very large and clean. The staff is attentive and my waiter Pablo was great. I had Chicken Chipotle Enchiladas with beans and rice. Huge portion, great flavor, and very satisfying. If your ever in Bend OR you will definitely want to enjoy a great meal by coming here.

Upon discovering they use a syrupy pre-mix for their margaritas, I would have preferred my Hornitos on the rocks. Noted for next time. The salsa packs a punch, which I love, but might be overwhelming for those less tolerant to spice. The rice was perfectly cooked, with a subtle crispness and al dente texture, avoiding any mushiness. As for the mole, it was a revelation! Unlike some Mexican-American moles, which can be overly acidic or dense, this one struck a delightful balance between sweet and savory. The beans were expertly seasoned, neither over nor under-salted, with a pleasingly consistent texture--neither too runny nor too thick. Salute- to the temperature and texture of the dishes--impeccably executed.

Good food, and very good service. It's what you hope for when choosing a Mexican restaurant. Their Macha burrito is my favorite.

After all that hard work, our family always ends up back at El Rodeo. It's our go-to spot and has been for years. The service is always great and the people working there are genuinely friendly and kind. It feels like a real family restaurant where they're happy you showed up. The bar is also a fantastic place to grab a drink or margarita, play a little video poker, and end up talking to half the locals in Bend. Somehow you go in for dinner and leave feeling like you attended a neighborhood reunion. The food is exactly what you want when you're craving Mexican: hot, good, and a lot of it. I have never once left there hungry or disappointed. Plates show up looking like they were designed for a lumberjack who skipped lunch. They recently remodeled the bar, which looks nice... but personally I believe Mexican restaurants should be built once in about 1987 and then left exactly the same forever. It's part of the charm. That said, the remodel won't stop me from going back regularly. Great people, great food, strong margaritas, and the kind of place that makes Bend feel like home. Five stars all day.

Pair it with an ice-cold draft beer in a frosty mug and you're set. The menu covers all the staples, and portions are generous without being over the top. Everything comes out hot, flavorful, and consistent, which is why it's a place people here keep coming back to year after year. The owner is super friendly and we have the same few servers every time who even Renee our go to orders. My parents love their Chile Rellano with green sauce. They also have one of the best happy hours in Bend -- great prices, plenty of options, and that friendly, familiar vibe that makes it feel like a neighborhood favorite.

The calling and pickup experience was good. The super supreme burrito was definitely not super and was not enough to fill my appetite. It felt like there were ingredients missing and all I could taste was a lot of refried beans and some meat. Definitely was not super or supreme. I hope that it was a one time experience at this location. I tried the chicken fajita burrito with was quite watery and I was not expecting raw green onions in it, but overall left me craving for a better version of a burrito. Super Nachos were good, not the best that I've had but quite good for the price. Overall I'll try this location again just to see if it was just not the best day for the restaurant.

They cater to their clientele, the people of Bend. I don't blame them at all for catering to their customer's tastes. I ordered an all meat burrito, some fish tacos and a couple of carne asada tacos. Let's talk first about their tacos. The tortillas are flour tortillas. Most Mexican joints use corn tortillas. The fish tacos are made with tilapia. They are grilled, not fried. Not quite the same fish tacos that we have in Southern California. The carne asada was grilled. However, both tacos seemed to be missing flavor. Adding salsa did not help. The all meat burrito was indeed all meat. I thought I asked for carne asada, instead, I got a burrito full of shredded beef. Again, adding seasoning would've helped. I'll be super nice to them and give them 3 stars. But, if you come from an area with lots of Mexican food, you won't like this spot.
