I've passed by El Cabron almost daily for years and never tried it until recently--BIG MISTAKE--I should have walked on by! The consensus by reviewers seems to be that the tacos are good and worth a visit. I won't be joining this group--I found them lacking in flavor for a cuisine that's usually bursting with the flavors of cilantro, ancho, chipotle and guajillo chilies . I enjoy cooking and in particular Mexican food. Now, what's Mexican food without rice and beans--at El Cabron it's definitely worth skipping entirely! It taste as if they opened up a can of beans put it in the pot and heated it up--flavors--nonexistent!!! Rice wasn't any better! today i went for the chorizo and spicy shrimp tacos $4.75 each. my goodness. 10/10. the chorizo was at a perfect spice level. the texture was amazing. the taco was stuffed with veggies n meat. the shrimp tasted super good. i love the green and red sauce. they give a generous amount of sour cream and guac. i also got the $3 horchata which was fresh and refreshing. i put my friends on, and they love it here i come here all the time. the prices are really good considering the quality and taste and service. i've been a loyal customer for like 4 years already. recently they added more seating! i love the music and atmosphere. there's also a restroom. come eat here i'm serious!!! read more

Tacos, burritos and crepes all in one place? What's not to like? The burritos are good. I got the burrito with shrimp (don't remember what its called), the shrimp was a bit cold but it was decent. Have to be honest -- Let's do a quick spoiler, then detailed bad news, then redemption format: Incredible taco. I think it'd be tame to say the food would be satisfying in any context. And mine was a borderline abusive wait in the deep labrynthian humidity that piled up in the seating area. It didn't look like anyone else was sweating like a gypsy with a mortgage, and there were no observable issues with cleanliness whatsoever-- You may just have to be okay with a surreal wait time and viscous O2 to get that lifetime-top-5 taco. I'm not ambivalent -- you should have one of their tacos. I assume they were having a very off night in terms of air thickness and summer-cupboard heat in the dining section, but even if they weren't, I'd still order from here and just wait outside. Authentic fresh and delicious , this place has the best spicy shrimp tacos. You get a lot for your buck here as each taco comes win a fresh medley of cilantro, onions, thinly sliced radishes and ample seafood or meat. The steak taco was so so, meat texture was a bit too well done and dry. Who doesn't love tacos? I know I do. I passed by this place a few times and finally decided to check it out one night when I was on the verge of passing out and needed something real quick. My boyfriend and I got the carnitas and chicken tacos and boy, were they good. They are generous with the meat and the tacos are a decent size. You can get the hot sauce and the salsa verde aka green sauce in the front and put them on your tacos as much as you want. The tacos came with lime and thin radish slices on the side. Price was decent, especially for the size of the tacos. As for the seating, they have a little table with three chairs and one bench with no table. I've seen people eating while standing up before on the sidewalk so if you can snatch a seat, great. If not, no biggie. You won't be standing for too long since you'll probably gobble it up, whatever you're eating in under five minutes. I'll definitely be back next time to try their burritos. This is a really small place which can seat about 10 people in Total inside. The lady at the counter service was really nice. The tacos take a while to come out but they taste very fresh. I had the steak, Spicy shrimp and chicken tacos. The steak taco was my favorite. The spicy shrimp taco were good also. My least favorite was the chicken taco. It was very bland. Each taco comes out to about four bucks each. If you add guacamole they will charge you .50 cents for each taco you choose to put Guacamole on. It takes a little time to cook your food, as they make it as you order and have limited space, but the tacos were all FULL of meat, a little onion and cilantro, with thinly sliced radishes and lime wedges. Salsa verde & hot salsa is conveniently available in squeeze bottles on the side. We had steak and chicken tacos. Friends had lamb, al pastor, and more. They were good. This spot is super authentic, and by authentic I mean homemade/made with love and not some chain bullsht. It is a small indoor stand that has a tiny table in the front and a ledge for sauces. It only fits about two workers and can be overwhelming when ordering. This place serves crepe (which I thought was weirdly interestingly, but didn't get a chance to try), tacos and burrito! Pricing is pretty decent and not at all expensive. I was starving so me and my sister ordered particularly one of each taco they had. First to review! This is a cute crepe spot in the lower east. It's a window shop so seating is limited to 2 tables and a few chairs outside but I think it gives it a nice character. I stuck with the original and got a hazelnut crepe - strawberries, banana, and Nutella - yum! The crepe was made perfectly - soft and smooth - the fruit was fresh and just enough Nutella was added - pet peeve of mine when a crepe is ruined by too much Nutella. The menu is split between sweet and savory crepes along with a few options for lemonades. Cute spot to grab a quick bite or dessert. The place has a nice neighborhood/ divey feel. These guys make some mean tacos. I don't usually drop a review on a place I intend to hoard as a secret, and I don't usually drop five stars, but as Les Crepes is 1.) off the beaten path, 2.) easy to pass unnoticed, and 3.) relatively new and (possibly) not getting the crowds they deserve, I believe that some recognition is in order. This is thus far the best taco I've had in New York, ahead of Otto's, Los Tacos No 1, Taqueria St Marks (FKA Taqueria LES), Taco Mix--you name it. This L.A. native would safely score it as a 4-to-5-star taco by Los Angeles standards. This place is fuego. The lamb taco was amaze and the carnitas taco was so juicy that it completely killed the sting of the picante salsa, which was great because it meant I could keep adding more. This place hits the spot for late night taco runs. It's not the best tacos in the world, but it's good enough in New York standards. The lamb and carnitas are juicy and nicely grilled. The tacos themselves have a copious amount of sauce and other toppings, and the tortilla is very standard. The tacos are the larger tacos most places in New York sell. 2-3 is a full meal and for $3-4 each its a pretty standard price. Bring cash! read more

I used to like this place because the tacos weren't bad and they are open until late night. So if i ever need a snack late at night, I could come here. However, my last encounter I was very disappointed. I ordered 3 tacos: chicken, carnitas, and steak to go to bring home for my brother. They gave me the regular rectangular paper plates when I told him it's to go, he said he had no more to go plates left. Can a stand really have no to go plates? Then I saw them right on top. Like really you're gonna lie to your customers? I'm obviously asking for it to go because I'm traveling with the food and not eating it right away. So I was left walking home with my food all exposed. Didn't feel comfortable walking to any stores because of this reason as well. Then when I got home to taste the tacos they don't taste like they used to. The tacos were bland especially the chicken it's just white, it definitely needs spices. I got the chorizo nachos, which were delicious, with the exception of the beans. The meat was absolutely amazing. I also had a shrimp taco and an al pastor taco. They were both great. The shrimp was seasoned really well, and was not over cooked. I also loved the pineapple on the al pastor taco. Would definitely recommend this place. So this is a crepe stand that also sells tacos lol yes, you heard it. Ambiance: What can I say, it's literally a shack. Although they have three chairs right in front, you're better off going to the park across the street. Food: I had the chicken and carnitas tacos. They were both tasty although I did not like that they top them with radish. I do like they use two tortillas per tacos so it doesn't break and fall all over like most tacos do. One tacos doesn't fill you up yet two tacos leave you extra stuffed (so think about how hungry you are). I also had their veggie burrito and although quite big and tasty, I wish they were more generous with the veggies. I had one of their savory crepes, "From the Alps"...the prosciutto was too salty for my taste. Finally, the sweet crepes selection is quite small (about 4-5) so I have yet to try them but will update review if I do. Prices: Tacos are $3.50; burritos $8 and crepes $8-10. Ordered the chorizo burrito. First bite was absolutely delicious, it had a nice kick to it and the flavor was there. 2 major huge disappointments, it was extremely salty and very small portion.
