My first issue is that prices are not displayed so I found out the hard way that a chicken Torta is $11.5 and birria ramen $13.5. Slightly overpriced in my opinion compared to what we get locally. The torta was good (as it should for that price) but the birria meat was so hard... I couldn't chew on it. Lot of fat (too much!) as well on top of the broth (see my photo). Horrible customer service. Called they hung up, called back and Waited 20 minutes on the phone for them to take my order. I should've know then it was going to be all bad. She said it would be ready in 20 minutes so I get there 20 minutes later and paid. Waited for her to call my order for another 15minutes. Everyone else was being called except me. I finally go and ask and she's like oh your order is here. My food had been sitting there this whole time. They need to get it together, food is okay but customer service sucks!!!! read more

Literally THE best tacos on your roadtrip to the Bay Area or to Vegas (depending on which way you're coming from). Off of the Lamont exit and across the street from a gas station next to the truck wash. Service is friendly, welcoming. Ambiance is literally a taco truck, a tent of sorts and some outside seating. I've only tried the tacos ($3.11 each) comes with jalapeño and grilled onions upon request and both hot and mild salsas on the side. Also treat yourself to an aguas Fresca made fresh and not out of the fountain. Have a little patience after you order as the food is made to order and it's usually a decent crowd waiting for their orders as well. read more

Had a reservation at 8pm, multiple phone calls for confirmation, once we got here said it was 30-45 min wait, but letting people from 8:30 reservations know it was a 10 Min wait. It is 8:40 & we are still waiting. Definetly a disappointment! Lady upfront was rude, we understand it is Valentines but our reservation was made 5 days prior. Everybody around had been waiting 30 minutes. Tables were available! Had to ask for chips, customer around us that got seated after us had drinks food & chips before us. Well, I've been Yelping for many years now and this one hurts. I have been coming to El Buen Pastor for 10 years or more and today was our first bad experience. So i took my family like I do some Sundays after church to grab our favorite tacos and found these tacos reduced in size by at least 50%. While the price of them went up some. The tortillas were never toasted to a crisp and today they were and they hardly had any tripa. Yesterday on my way to work I ordered a tripa burrito and I asked for extra meat and I paid for extra meat and the burrito was so mediocre and bland. I only ate it because I had no food and everything else was miles away. I am so saddened by the changes now and I unfortunately will not be taking my family there again. Good luck with the business guys I really mean it. I hope things get better for y'all. As for ambience, well it's always busy and there's lots of semis around. I really wanted to like this since the east side is growing and this is a nice restaurant on that side but unfortunately I did not. The wait to even get chips and drinks was so long and we got here before the lunch rush. The wait was so bad a table neighboring us left before getting drinks. The michelada was very underwhelming with zero garnish. I'm posting a photo of my food, it is MISERABLE that I paid $25 for two burnt eggs (when the menu said three and I asked for over medium) and the size of the steak is literally laughable. The owner was really nice though and appreciated the honesty, which was refreshing and he even threw in a free flan, so they get 2 stars instead of one. I hope this place gets it together since they're so young and have a lot of potential to make the east side happy. read more

Excellent Mexican food! We ordered the chilaquiles with chorizo on the side and tacos de lengua, tripa and chorizo. Chilaquiles-The sauce that comes with them was delicious and very flavorful. The egg I ordered over easy and it was over hard lol. The rice and beans were really good too. My fave part tho was the chorizo. Omg Delicious! Greasy and full or spices and flavor. The tacos were delicious as well. The tripa was crispy, the chorizo flavorful and not overcooked and the lengua really soft. We also ordered agua de fresa and it was my fave thing overall. It was so fresh, fruity and natural. It had the perfect balance of fruit and sugar. A fave place in Bakersfield for sure :0) read more

I ordered the asada and pastor tacos and both were incredibly delicious. I wished I ordered another taco since they are small. My husband ordered the birria tacos which were also delicious according to him. They were also larger than the street tacos. Service was also good. They have a covered outdoor dining area that was fairly clean and a portable handwashing station. My only complaint were the flies but nothing that would deter me from coming back again. read more

I went there for Mother's Day with my family. I will say it was busy. But I loved how the waitress kept checking in on us. The food was amazing. My intention is to do a video review of every taco truck in the Bakersfield area. It's a tough job, but someone's got to do it. One of my early reviews was of El Buen Pastor. I consider this to be one of the best trucks I've been to so far. They're in the process of opening a brick and mortar restaurant on Brundage near Morning, but it's not there yet. I'll definitely review it as soon as it opens. This truck has AMAZING breakfast burritos, all their street tacos are perfectly done. My personal favorite is the lengua. And their tamales are fantastic. My favorite is the fresca, or strawberry. If you haven't tried sweet tamales, you need to do that right away. They have a nice covered seating area, with misters going when it's hot. Very clean, well taken care of. The workers are always nice, which helps a lot when you might not understand everything on the menu. read more

Quesabirra tacos are really flavorful but their burritos are the hidden gems in this establishment. I've also had their shrimp tacos, which is really a lite refreshing item when I don't feel like having something heavy. Food truck is big, they take cash or card, pricing is normal. This truck is to say the least---interesting. I have ordered Asada Mulitas, one tripe taco and Asada Nachos. The Mulitas are good. I have to melt the cheese, but that was ok. The service is sketchy. The woman who is normally the cashier is an angry soul. She was not mentally well tonight. I asked her for an additional sauce and she loudly SAUCE SHAMED me challenging me saying "YOU NEED 3 SAUCES?" in front of a crowd of Tuesday Taco Goers. Not one other person did she apply this challenge. I won't be back, but I do wish to know who the owner is because as an indentured servant she is running your business away. The food is always great here despite the poor customer service. However last time I went I ordered a carne asada burrito and bit into a long piece of metal almost chipped my beautiful teeth! Despite the mishap the Flavor was fantastic but I couldn't continue eating after that. I tried calling to report the issue but had no luck in contacting anyone. Don't go here past 9 PM. They stop serving everything except carne asada and pastor burritos and tacos. So no birria, lengua, pollo, tripas, etc. and the meat they serve last at night tastes old. We asked for asada fries the lady responded with "we turned off our frier". Mind you, they close at 11 pm. We asked for nachos, she said they had no more chips. And this wasn't a one time experience. The night before they pulled the same shit on me and my family. They people taking the order are rude and give you attitude when you ask why can't they provide things on the menu. As much as I love this place, they're going downhill. (This is the 3rd time I've visited in the last month....I'm not basing this review based on 1 visit.) Portions of meat are the same but it lacking in the flavorful seasoning, service is slower and they charge taxes on their tacos. When you order al pastor tacos, you expect for a great "al pastor / adobada" flavor and not straight up chorizo flavor. The asada tacos I ordered were OK....there was a lot more fat in the meat. What really disappointed me, was that there was no salsa on the tacos. They either overlooked to put it on the tacos or they are now charging for it....who knows. Once the jewel of the taco world, it pains me to write this review. Hopefully, EBP gets their head back in the game. read more
