We started with Hummus and Tata Chips, which was crispy pita chips with a standard (but delicious) hummus. The Tata chips had great flavor, like Stacy's Pita Chips but better! The firat course was White Bean Fahsulia, which was a rich and hearty bean stew that packed huge flavor! Second course was Falafel with Tahini Sauce. These were a nice little bite between dishes. The center of the falafel was light, fluffy, and flavorful! Course 3 was Masaka-Ah served with Timan Asfur Rice. While this dish was good, it was my least favorite of the evening. I ate half of the stew and passed the rest off to my husband, who loved it! Course 4 brought us Dolma's served with Roasted Vegetables. I LOVE stuffed grape leaves and these were seriously on point! Tart and tangy up front followed by a whole lot of savory. Course 5, my favorite, was the Spicy Curry Chicken served with White Rice. This was the dish that made me fall in love with Fast Eddy's food and had me coming back for more. I took a couple bites and got a to-go container to enjoy this later at home. Finally, we reached the end of our dinner and Course 6, dessert, came out. Freshly made, sweet and decadent, traditional baklava. Filo dough, crushed walnuts, butter, and honey. This just melted away once it hit my mouth. I don't eat a whole lot of sweets but this had me closing my eyes and enjoying every bite. Every time I've visited Fast Eddy's the staff has been amazing, friendly, and hospitable. And of course, the place being completely decked out with rock and metal music memorabilia, i feel right at home here. Oh, and there's never a time where I leave that place without an order of the Pasta Anatoli to-go!

The love for people was so so prevalent that you can see why it's a success and why the food is so excellent. The food is all family recipes and you can tell that they truly do love what they do. Today I had a steak pita, and it was out of this world! My friend had the falafel pita - the fact that she ate the whole thing only proves and demonstrates without a doubt how great it was. If you want to come a place where you're embraced loved and where they treat you like family then this is where you wanna go! Sidenote, mama's cheesecake and carrot cake out of this world! Eureka (I have found it)! Hollywood in Florida!!!!…read more JUST like Dr. Indiana Jones combing through the jungles seeking his ancient museum artifacts, I was navigating the curvy wilds of the Jacksonville Southpoint area, located near I-95 and JTB. The best things in life require some effort to build your appetite, and whereas I did not collect a golden idol like Dr. Jones, I was rewarded instead with a cheerful new friend and one of the absolute FRESHEST sandwiches in JAX! Nestled between the sparse woods and surrounding offices you will find happy, loyal diners who fill Hollywood Heroes and Subs each lunchtime to the point where the line stretches out the door. I had just seen the last of the lunch crowd smiling and saying goodbye for the day to our energetic and upbeat host, Founder, sandwich artist and Jacksonville native Kevin Porter, an actor turned restaurateur -- known for roles including "Lazer" in Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story, plus appearances in Daredevil and General Hospital. Something that cannot be "acted" around was his genuine welcome and desire to roll out the red Hollywood carpet for all who make the journey (yes, it's a REAL red carpet)!! This sweet shop is the perfect size, and has a significant amount of Hollywood memorabilia all around to keep you engaged while chatting with Kevin as he works his magic. And what he produced was a treasure of cheese and meats that made me forget about whatever might have been chasing me through those woods to get there! J/K In between wonderful conversation with Kevin, each bite of my MASSIVE "The Towering Inferno" hot hero (pepperoni, Genoa salami, cappy and melted provolone) on fresh baked Village Bread made me realize just how huge and delicious this thing was. Kevin promised that the one pictured is exactly what every customer will get...he prides himself on highly generous portions at fair prices...and man, did he deliver!! I would have been completely satisfied with HALF, but NO!!!! There sat its twin, begging for sacrifice to the stomach Gods. I was only too happy to oblige! The owner Kevin = engaging, friendly, talented with his craft, makes you feel like you drove through the woods to come home to your happy place. The ambiance = bright, colorful, great memorabilia, puts you as the star of the show. The sandwiches = creative in name and product with fresh being the operative word, this sandwich hit above its price point and I can't wait to try to the rest of the menu! So no, I didn't get chased by a boulder, or leave with Dr. Jones' golden idol, but I did get a Golden Belly from my experience, and the knowledge of why hundreds of hungry lunch- goers seek this "Temple of Delish" every day!! Crack the whip and corral your family into the car for this absolute treat in the core of "ancient Jacksonville!!"

I ordered from the Dynamic Duo (sandwich & soup combo) menu. I picked the Reuben and Chicken Tortilla Soup because it's been a minute since I've had either. The Reuben was good with my one critique being that I could've used a little more Thousand Island on it. The soup was good as well and not too spicy. I always order Chicken Tortilla and hope for the best because I've had it swing way past my threshold for heat but this didn't. It has a kick for sure but not too bad. My wife ordered the Hot Honey Chicken & Yolk Biscuit Sandwich. She really liked it with the biscuit itself exceeding what she expected. Like me, her only small issue with that she liked that hot honey so much, she would've liked a little more on it. That's something she knows to ask for next time though, so no biggie. We sat at the bar and service was great from everyone we interacted with. This was out third time here since they opened. My wife pointed out that she liked her first visit and this one better than the second. She had a regular platter the second time, so she thinks sticking with their specialties is the best way to go. When we arrived we checked in for our reservation and even though we got here early, they were able to seat us. Since we were early we were able to order one cocktail on happy hour. I will say, I understand they want to have craft distilleries or alcohol, I wish they would have some of the bigger brands of alcohol. Some of the smaller brands just don't taste the same. Our server was attentive and knowledgeable. I believe his name was John. He let us know that they just launched this menu. We were a little bummed bc we were looking forward to the strip steak with Bernaise sauce. We started with the fig pizza , meatballs, and bread. Word to the wise because they have an open kitchen, if you run hot be sure to dress appropriately. It gets pretty warm in there. The pizza was delicious. I loved the combo of blue cheese and sweet figs. The meatballs were flavorful and the sauce was really good. I liked the bread plate, just wish there were more dipping options. For dinner we all ordered the strip with the truffle fries and the peppercorn sauce. We really enjoyed the steak, but I liked the one with bernaise better. The steaks were all cooked to our liking. They knew it was my sister's birthday, so they brought out their ice cream with olive oil and sea salt. It's different but super delicious. We will back!

Actually, I think the one time I went when I was already in the area, they told me the coupon I had had to be used at dinner time. So, I ended up leaving. I finally tried this place over a year after it opened and I didn't find it to be anything too special. I like the fact that they had a number of chicken subs and I was torn between the chicken teriyaki and the steak bomb. I ended up deciding I wanted to try sort of a Philly cheesesteak and so I got the steak bomb without mayo. We also got a half tuna sub and a kids turkey sub combo. I was very disappointed by the cheesesteak. I'm not exactly sure what "bomb" means, but I was expecting it to sort of be bursting with flavor. It really had no flavor, despite visibly having onions, peppers, mushrooms, tomatoes, and cheese. There was oddly a strip of bacon sitting on top (not chopped into the meat) , which was really the only component that added any seasoning as it was a little salty. I ended up having to put both ketchup and barbecue sauce on it at home to give it some seasoning. The tuna sub fared better, although it was a bit liquidy so the bread was soggy. The kids turkey sub combo was just that, turkey and white bread. The portion was very good though for a kids meal as it appeared to be an entire 6-inch sub and a small order of fries with a drink. that was definitely a good deal. If you haven't been, note that they only offer white bread, no bread, or sandwich toppings put on a salad All in all, this probably wouldn't be a place I would return to unless I wanted to try the chicken teriyaki sub. But I will say that the worker who packaged my order was very friendly and the restaurant was clean. I was a little concerned about the fate of this place as nobody was in there eating, but hopefully they are doing well.
