I believe this location may be cursed. pollo Tropical had a great product at greta pricing, but they couldn't manage staff well. This building is a redesigned Pollo Tropical. The decor is trendy and utilitarian and the space was clean. Employees were friendly and professional. Our food was ready on time and was hot. the French fries were crispy and very heavily seasoned. The real travesty here is the chicken. Form the very first bite I had a mouth of dry spices, with the gritty texture to go alone with it. The taste of cumin is so overwhelming that it is making me gag and I use cumin regularly in cooking. I don't get it. Quite literally the worst chicken I have ever had. Like eating chicken that someone dropped in the garden and just shook off. Truly awful. Sorry, Dave's, but what we got was a joke right? I just wanted to add that I did try to reach out to Dave's. If you call the restaurant, it won't let you talk to anyone there and instead you get a message that recommends sending a message through their website. So that's what I did. This is the second time I've let my 11-year-old talk me into going to some chicken place because he heard about it online. This was significantly better than the last place (see my Raising Canes review). The menu at Dave's hot chicken is pretty lean, but that's not a bad thing if you're great at the few things you do. Wanting to have some variety my son ordered the 2 chicken tenders meal. He did not want to tackle the Reaper level heat, but I was able to deploy the Dad lean and get him to go Medium. I went with the Dave's bites (boneless wings basically), went with Hot. I've already done a Reaper challenge and wasn't planning to put either end of my digestive system through that again. Food came out quickly and the portions are solid. Tenders are HUGE. Fries were tasty and well seasoned. Pickles are tasty. Signature sauce is really good. Flavor on the medium heat was really nice. Not hot, had a bit of paprika sweetness in there. The Hot flavor on my bites was, in fact, hot. Not an uncomfortable or unpleasant flavor, just spicy. But good with the sauce. We stopped in to Dave's hot chicken on Sunday and I was surprised to see a large seating space full of diners. However, I also saw many caution signs on the floors as well as garbage. We ordered our food to go. 2 orders of chicken bites, one medium, one no spice. We waited about 15 minutes for food, when it was handed over, the labels put on the boxes to keep them closed were not put on correctly so the boxes were open and the labels were dirty. And both orders were medium, not as we requested. I liked the food and thankfully after the long wait it came out hot. I think they could be extremely successful if they added additional staff, especially on the weekend. read more

This was our second visit to this location, and unfortunately it confirmed that our first experience wasn't just a one-time mistake. After our first visit, we left an honest review on multiple review sites because my husband's Hot Mozz sandwich was served cold. Even after that disappointing experience, we decided to give this location another chance because we genuinely wanted to support Dave's Hot Chicken and hoped things had improved. This time, we even politely asked for my husband's food to be made fresh. While his sandwich was hot, everything else fell short. He ordered cheese fries with his meal, but they were completely left out of the order. I ordered the 10-piece Extra Hot Bites with fries. My food was barely warm, had almost no seasoning, and the fries tasted like they had been cooked in old grease. They weren't fresh, crispy, or hot--just disappointing. What makes this even more frustrating is that we've eaten at other Dave's Hot Chicken locations and have never had these issues. This location simply does not reflect the quality we've come to expect from the brand. We gave this restaurant a second chance after already sharing our concerns publicly, and instead of restoring our confidence, it reinforced why we were disappointed in the first place. At this point, we won't be returning to this location. Management seriously needs to reevaluate the operation of this store. Consistency, food quality, accuracy, and freshness should be the standard--not something customers have to request. I been trying to get to this place since it opened. I been wanting to try the reaper seasoned chicken I heard so much about. I was not disappointed. The parking is not easy to get. The parking lot is shared with all other stores in that area. The inside is in great condition. Everything is perfectly clean. You will order when you enter. The drinks are self serve. There is no napkins on the tables. I had the two chicken strips with fries meal. Their meals do not come with drinks. That is a let down. I ordered my chicken with reaper level heat. I had to sign a waiver to order that seasoning. I originally thought it was a joke. My family does grow our own carolina reaper peppers. I was wrong. The reaper seasoning they use is powerful. I did not have dip into some ice chips. Tasted little over seasoned though. I do not know if they sprinkled extra on mine when they heard I grow my own reapers. The texture of the food sure felt that way. A dry coat of seasoning on top of the chicken original seasoning made mine very dry tasting. The scoville heat level was top notch. It was middle of the day at the location and there wasn't a single person in the building minus the employees Very strange because it was the middle of the town center, but I still had faith when I went up to order, the girl was very uninterested in conversation and didn't even make me feel as if she was interested in taking my order if I was purely to base this off of that reaction I would not say to go back, but I'm not going to do that and instead I'm going to talk about how clean it was even though they were working on the soda machine while I was there and this is a new location. Additionally, I ended up ordering my food to go and the food still was delicious. Very well cooked and a great amount of food for the price just like every other Dave's location if this is your first time ever having days if you like any type of heat, I have a recon recommend going for the hot as the medium had no heat to be my boyfriend on the other hand is not a fan of heat and thought the medium was great The loaded fries were very interesting but do you remember they're not loaded fries that you would be able to reheat due to the coleslaw overall. I wanted to love it, but my meal was just OK at best. I stopped in around 6:30 pm a weeknight and the place was about half full. The folks at the counter were nice. I love when a place has vegetarian options and ordered the two cauliflower slider combo. I was a bit startled to see that with even the middle suggested tip (which was calculated at full service percentages even though this is a counter service location), it would come out to around $20 -- and I was even more startled to learn that this was without a drink. So right off the bat, I learned this is on the pricier side of counter service restaurants. (Cauliflower is apparently a seasonal offering here and wasn't priced out on the online menu, so I wasn't sure what to expect.) I went to grab a table, and a few were a bit sticky, so I grabbed a cleaner one. It was near the tray dropoff and trash bin area, which was cleaned and emptied twice in my time eating. On the one hand, at least they were staying on top of it, but on the other, it wasn't exactly pleasant to be hit by the smell of open garbage while eating. Maybe there just shouldn't be a table there? My food was pretty disappointing. The cauliflower sliders came out with small nugget-sized pieces on each bun, whereas I was expecting one larger "patty". In the way it was served, it was pretty much impossible to take a bite of the slider without the other pieces falling out the back, so I ended up just deconstructing them. The flavor of the seasoning was just OK, not as flavorful as I was expecting for a place that seems like they'd prioritize that. The medium spice level I ordered felt somewhat accurate (on the milder side of medium, in my opinion), but I didn't find the cauliflower texture very pleasant -- it was rather mushy and watery. I've had fried cauliflower plenty of times with a sturdier texture elsewhere. The fries were decent, though. However, the entire meal was really salty, and I say that as someone who likes salt. It tasted like what I'd expect someone ordering "extra salty" to receive. I'll probably give it another chance whenever they have cauliflower, but it wasn't the best first impression. read more

The mini sliders come with 4 and was the perfect amount for me. They are bite sized but packed with flavor with pickles and kale slaw on a delicious, buttery, soft bun. I'm so glad Dave's made its way to Jax! I popped in randomly on a Tuesday and ordered the Slider/Tender combo, medium. The line was short, and I waited under 10 minutes for my food. The staff were all friendly; the restaurant was clean. The food was even better than I remembered! The one thing I will say is I'm normally a medium spice girl, but I'll probably go up to hot the next time I stop by because the medium felt more mildish. But even so, wow! The slider was phenomenal, the bun was a key player in its own right, the slaw was the perfect complement, and the chicken was sooo flavorful, crunchy, yet soft. Tried Dave's Hot Chicken for the first time and it was a solid experience! I got the hot chicken slider with mac and cheese -- both were super flavorful and came out quickly, even though the place was busy. They have a self-serve soda fountain, which is always a plus, and the inside was bright and inviting with some really cool graffiti-style artwork on the walls. There's plenty of seating both indoors and outside, so even with the crowd, it didn't feel cramped. Only small downside was the indoor trash bin filling up pretty quickly, but there's another one outside that helped keep things clean. All in all, great spot for some spicy chicken and chill vibes.
